I also think there is something to the biotin/b complex in many cases, so all you guys need to get on those for sure...

All depends on why you are loosing hair, i just think that in alot of cases it can help...not all though. Rememeber these things will take months to begin working if they are going to..

Just a quick question, if you guys lean forward and brush your hair and shake your head over the sink at a certain time (not just after you showered) about how much hairs would you lose. I've lost 15 in the past 10 min.

If i haven't washed my hair in a while E.g. not that day, and if i haven't touched my hair much then i can get about 30 ? from doing like you say...

P.s. i see one of the best derms in the UK on wednesday, at a ridiculus price of A200 ($400) but i wasn't prepared to wait any more than a matter of weeks so an NHS refferal was out of the option. I will let you know what he says...

alright so usually when I wash my hair I notice a clump of hair in the drain. lately it has seemed like this clump is getting smaller, and within the last couple weeks it has gotten really small, with only a few hairs in it sometime, even after not washing for a few days.

however, i know for a fact that i'm not out of the doghouse. the reason i know this is because some of the hairs that i shed throughout the day are the short tapered ones. this is in my opinion one of the only true ways to tell if your hair cycle is back to normal, because if it was back to normal, you wouldn't lose short tapered hairs because they have only been in the anagen stage for a few weeks/months, whereas normal anagen hair is suppose to grow a few years.

sigh...

what i find weird is that none of the original people that were experiencing hair loss when this thread started have recovered. i guess the only one to really recover that we know of is farve?

HEY! okay so i have been experiencing a lot of hair loss since i finished accutane about 5 months ago.and so i have been doing a ton of online research. what i have gained is that you experience hair loss until all of the excess vitamin a is removed from your liver! i have been looking up liver detox methods and i have found one that i am definately going to try. ORGANIC UNFILTERED APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. add 1 tbsp to a glass of water three times a day. apple cider vinegar helps to remove buildup in the liver and removes toxins! i am going to give it a try and I will let everyone know how well it works!

weird. then it looks like NO ONE has receovered yet. it also seems we have a lot of new people that have hit the 5 months mark. perhaps the hairloss for accutane is a lot more drawnl out then most people think?

Interesting, sweetheart, please let us know how the detox is going so we can try it if it works.

Andys derm did say shortest time for recovery of her patients = 6 months, longest 8 months... and im sure there are many both longer and shorter....(by recovery she WILL be reffering to a stop in shedding)

First app with one of the best derms went terribly, don't ask why but i have DR chu to look foward to next week...

One thing i have learn't is that it is very hard to see regrowth other than along the top of your head (and hairline). The hair on the side of your head angles downwards so is laying flat with your head and will not poke out like it does on the top... As you go further back it becomes harder to see the hairs and thus appears not to be as many...

Also silver, you have a good chance of full recovery i don't think it will of effected your skin/scalp that much in a short 2.5 month period.

I don't know whether to be encouraged our discouraged that pretty much all the original posters are still experiencing shedding. It is discouraging because there is no recovery stories, but encouraging in the sense that surely only a small minority end up experience prolonged or permanent hair loss. So maybe this is just saying it takes a little longer than we all thought. Remember back to the original post where Andy's derm said that in here experience the minimum recovery time is 6 months and max in her experience was 8 months. I believe most of us are approaching or right around this mark, so hopefully the end is in sight. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

My shedding has decrease by at least 50%.

I've been using Rogaine for the last 6months almost.

Plus I've been using Nizoral shampoo helps with itchy scalp.

But my hair is still thin = ( So now I'm still waiting to see if I'll have regrowth or not.

Phan, if your shedding has decreased, you will surely see an improvement over the next few months in terms of appearance!!

For those of you that feel you may have a mpb aspect, or want to prevent mpb coming into play if your shedding continues, save this page...

Schindler, i feel you need to go through what we are to understand that we can tell our INCREASED hairloss is 100% due to accutane... Sure some of us (not me) may have some hairloss going on already. But you KNOW when you shedding dramatically increases when it never has before.

My hairloss began OVERNIGHT. i went from loosing very very few hairs, to hundreds all in the space of 24 hours and it has persisted for 6 months now. i agree though this thread probably does put people off... but it is a side effect that should be strongly considered imo.

I am on my 9 month post accutane mark and still shedding. However, there is very fast regrowth. Still full coverage. For some reason I had a weird shedding phase. During the first 5 months post accutane i did not really shed that much, but there was some increased shedding nonetheless. Then on the 6th month I started shedding a lot, like 60 hairs per day. Now it has started to slow down. What do you guys think about that? Does that mean that the accutane is still taking time to get washed out of my system? I am going to try to clean out my system with some very light organic apple cider vinegar mixed with water. That is very healthy, and can only benefit you in many ways.

I am not sure as to what the exact proportions are...but i am going to go to whole foods today and get organic apple cider vinegar....i will then mix like a teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar with water.....I will determine the exact proportions shortly...but the directions are relatively easy to find online, since it is a very old household remedy for many aches and paines that you come across...however, make sure you get ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR...not just any other vinegar.....
