Hey guys, so i have come to the conclusion i probably have lupus. I have so many of the symptoms that i will be going to my DR the second i get home and demanding they test me for it. The sun exposure i have had whilst i have been in florida has helped me spot that i probably have lupus, i still have the mouth ulcers (which have got worse as of late) my hairloss has sped up, my skin becomes extremely itchy after sun exposure, along with strang rashes, i'm always dizzy, i have something similar to rosecea but not quite it.... This is a true living nightmare and i wish the fucking hairloss was my only problem i really do...

My former doctor suspected it too but my ANA test came negative... my new army docs also can't explain whats going on with me but they let me stay in the basic training:)

Yes Ron your symptoms sound as if it could well be a auto immune disease aswell. This is what im worried about though, i will probably have to live with my symptoms as my tests will come back negative....living nightmare hey?

Ron, do you lift weights by any chance? like resistance training. If you do i have some information which may help your condition. I think i have spotted how i will be able to keep my condition under control.... I'm pretty confident i have anyway!!

Yes some times i do couse i'm now in the Golani brigade of the IDF.

auto immune may be also our body kiling the celles that have too much accutane damge so the simptoms look alike but the reason is not what it is usualy.

Well i have a theory, lupus is related to hormones. The ratio of men to women is 10:1. I found that when i started working out before i came on holiday (which raises testosterone), i had alot of regrowth and a slow in my shedding (to almost nothing) so i will try working out again when i get home. I hope this will be of some health

I.ve seen that article before yeah. After numerous hours of reasearch, im sure working out will help our condition ron, serum testosterone levels increase ALOT after a workout, testosterone is a potent anti inflamatory substance, lupus is an inflamatory disease, i will do tests as soon as i get home to see if i can slow my hairloss back down to how it was, if i can get it down to the 50 hairs a day i had it down to before i think i will be able to keep a decent head of hair for a good while!!

I'm close to 8 months.. i think i now enterd another time of too much shedding, yet no regrowth.

I fear the worse... but still maintain hope as my hair receded only at the temples(which is O.k in accutane TE.

I thought I'd post about how I saw new hairs.

1. Wet your hair and part it anywhere.

2. In the bald line that forms, look for small hairs that stick up. Tilt your head in various ways in front of the mirror. They should be much shorter than the rest of your hairs.

I know i have or had some regrowth.. some of it became terminal hair the other shed also...the hair that shed is somehow thicker than my original.. acctualy my hair got darker in the past 8 months.. the drug is still in me couse my eyes and nose and mouth and skin is realy dry.. but less than at the beginning. my tempels are almost gone..very very thin.

by the way i also found some hairs that was wery thin like the tiny hairs that in mpb on the top but thickned realy starting from the middle and then it shed..

Hey guys its been 3 months post accutane and Im still shedding and only my right temple is receding or receded. Should I go the derm. and get on some hair med.? Or should I just wait and see if it subsides? Im nervous about taking any meds. now seeing what accutane has done to me.

my right temple receded first also... and you should see a derm... but be careful with propecia from my reading it did not help much the people with our situation..and the doctors are quick on the rx for it... my derm who gave me roaccutane actualy told me to do minoxi but not prop.. other derm said its AGA and told me get propecia..but i told him evrything and he said to wait for a year to pass.. my shed is now something like 30-50 a day.. it was some thing like 200-250 the first 4 and a half months... so i think it shure is TE but the trigger still in me so it can't regrow realy god yet..

Lol, thats sounds very familiar "after seeing what accutane has done to me" i think that is all of our thoughts on the drug. I would wait as long as you can if i were you. I have been shedding 3 and a half months, no signs of slowing, but as i have mentioned i think it is down to having mild lupus (from accutane)...

Wait until your hair gets to a situation where you feel you NEED to do something, not before. I agree with the propecia comment from ron try minox first, if that fails, then maybe try propecia as a last resort....

P.s. My right temple is worse than my left, which is kinda strange, but probably just a coincidence...

Well.. I counted 97 hairs in the shower today. How can any regrowth we see be significant if were losing up to 1000 hairs a week? Another bad sign is that practically the only regrowth I see is at the very front of my hairline. I can part my hair in places and look for short hairs but I only see a few in the parting.

Wow, thanks for the replies guys. I just want some honest opinion and not some false hope which I see a lot going here about hair loss. Should I face the truth that Im going to be bald? I only taken Accutane for 2 months and each on low dosage.(30mg - 40mg) When I come here people are telling each other its only temporary and yet in other forums people are reporting that it is permanent. I never experienced loosing 200 hairs but more like 30 or so hairs daily. What do you guys plan on doing? If it is permanent, do you guys plan on getting hair transplant of some sort?

Should I go on Biotin and MSM? Could these meds. make it worse??

Also I just realized I took some multivitamins that contained Vitamin A could this been the reason that I experienced more hair loss the usual?

I found this regimen that someone was on and experience some regrowth. Does it look good to you guys?

Morning:

Biotin 5mg

MSM 3000mg

Flax Oil 1000mg

Milk Thistle 400mg

Afternoon

Calcium 500mg

MSM 2000mg

Zinc 50mg

just a quick update here as I've been back at school living in my apartment and the internet has yet to be setup so i haven't been able to post for awhile. About two-three weeks ago my hair loss was showing signs of really slowing down. When I would shower I would say that I usually would only lose at times as low as 10 hairs but usually 15-20. Anyway over the past few days I've noticed my hair loss start to dramatically increase again to the point where I lost around 50-60 in the shower alone last night and around 20 more or so during the day. I don't really know what to make of it all, but I would say that instead of being concerned with solely the shedding I think it's more important to focus on the change of structure of the hair on your head. For instance I can assure pretty much all of you out there that i am an extreme case probably the worst out of anyone on the board soley because on top of the shedding my hair has gotten so so thin. The part is not only increasing in the middle of my hair but now the front portion of my hair is starting to diffuse away. I'm probably going down the same road as Julius so there isn't much I can really do besides get on propecia. I plan to start it in a couple weeks as soon as i can get ahold of some arimidex to counter the sides. But overall my advice would be not to focus as much on the shedding in general but the actual change in structure to your hair.

Perhaps you're right.

I got very depressed last night, when I looked at a mirror under bright, florescent lighting. I am still missing one hell of a lot of hell. But whenever I look at where I am missing hair, I see small hairs popping up through my head.

HOWEVER, as I have said before, these hairs are pretty damn crappy. Some of them are longer than 2mm (hence, not vellus hair) but some of them are not. Either they are just popping out of my head, and I have to wait for them to grow, or these are vellus hairs and I am screwed.

According to my mother and my roommate, these hairs are a very light brown. I, on the other hand, see them as white. Interestingly, I have about 4 to 5 long white hairs scattered through my head. Wouldn't it be hilarious if all my hairs grew back white?

Finally, to address Ithappen's point, I'm not sure I agree. Perhaps a bit. I don't know. The texture of my hair is still pretty crappy, and if my hair grows back, it looks like it might be white hair.

Again, SUPER-depressed. I just feel like I'm missing a crapload of hair. By the way, I've started Propecia. My left boob only hurts a little, and the pain seems to come and go. At this point, I don't care if I have MPB or not. If I can tolerate Propecia, I'm going to take it. As God as my witness, I'll never go bald again.

Frankly, my dear, who gives a damn. Thanks for listening/reading.

Well i will be starting propecia/minox only topically though, in the next few months (yes propecia (finesteride) works topically) i don't think my shedding will ever stop, of that i am pretty confident, sure you guys can say well you have only been shedding 3-4 months, but i know there is something up with my body, so i am going to aim to allow my hair to constantly shed and regrow, whilst ensureing the hair that regrows doesnt becoming miniturized by DHT, i only hope i can sport a decent 'buzz' cut as you guys call it, if i can do that for a good while i will be happy!!

i still won't resort to putting propecia into my body, you guy's should do some research on topical minox/fiinesteride combo, i will be going down that route plus encourperating my acne treatment into my hairloss treatment lol, meaning red light at 660nm is very effective at reducing inflamation (has been clinically proven and the laser comb (FDA approved) uses the same wavelength), so when i buzz my hair off i can increase my red light treatment whilst doing relaxation and im pretty certain this will help...

Last week or so i have given up careing about my hair to much, it is more pissing me off that anything i'm fed up with hair dropping on my face all the time!!

I will be going to the Drs when i have some more visable ulcers to show them, it's a sod that they would settle down a bit as soon as i want to visit them...I had the biggest mofo right by my front teeth the other day, plus several others, today i have none, Sods law...

Good luck guys, remember it is only hair though, yes the world is very superficial, but life goes on none the less. I'm sure i will be back soon balling my eyes out mind you, lol...

Oh yeah, ithappens mate, only take the arimidex every 2-3 days, it is a very powerfull anti estrogen as you probably know it will eliminate 99% of estrogen in your body, you will only need 1 tablet every 2-3 days at the most...

And Andy, the shorter hairs will most likely develope into terminal hairs, it takes time, they don't magically pop out at the same diameter as the rest, well they can do but generally don't they will slowly mature into terminal hairs, especially if you are on the propecia now!!

Trust me u will be fine man, it's people who have continous shedding that have most of the problems, my dad who is 54, started propecia about 5 months ago and now looks to be heading towards having more hair than me in the near future >< lol.

Funny you should say that, Mark. I've started shedding again. All my small hairs, falling. What the fuck do I do now? This is devastating.
