Is this true?
"Yes, Accutane can accelerate MPB by prompting the growth of new, crappier hairs after the old, good ones are shed. MPB is a function of time. One does not progress toward MPB with each new cycle, but generally through one's lifespan. In other words, at a specific age."
Im having a hard time understanding this as it seems to contradict itself. She said yes it can accelerate mpb because it jumps the hair ahead a cycle. But then she says that hair cycles do not matter and one only pregresses towards mpb as they age.
I think it means that it can't give you mpb.. unless you should have it without the te in the next hair cycle... but who knows... my hair loss is all over the scalp not only the mpb areas and looks the same thikness whole over. so this plus my family hsitory tells me that fuck i should not have any hair loss at all at least till i'm 60+ like my dad(whose sides are thicker than mine).
8 months with almost no big regrowth.. meybe after a year?..
I have read from a couple different sites on the internet that chronic TE is something that occurs in women, not men.
p.s. I have now been shedding for 3 months. It may be slowing down, its hard to tell. I try to not run my hands through my hair because I hate seeing hairs fall out.
Usually occurs in men yes, but i feel that some cases of ongoing shedding can be down to chronic TE, both in men and women...
you mean usually occurs in women... but it can be in men also .. right?
btw, i have been following this thread.. since it started.. just never posted.. im about 3 month post tane.... still having some shedding.. i never had like extreme shedding..(well maybe some days) but i stilll have lossed a fair amount of hair. my hair feels alot thinner. and when i take a shower you can easily see my scalp. My derm just assures me ittl all grow back and not to worry.
Do it for me... I probably started noticeably sheeding about 2 weeks into the treatment.. i took it about 2 more months , then i stopped.. so total time 2 months 2 weeks.. im still shedding maybe 20ish hairs a day? 3 months post accutane depending.. maybe less maybe more. only in the back of my head though. the front seems to have stoped shedding. O and I took 40mg 5 days out of 7 days a week

I'll try, man. Probably some time tomorrow. But I wonder if your hair loss is telogen effluvium. I have a theory that when it begins that early (2 weeks in, right), then it's "drug-induced hair loss" rather than TE. That means that the Accutane actually "shocked" the "hair matrix." There's a link I posted a few pages back that describes the difference. This does not mean that it won't grow back, but it might be a different scenario. Still, I'll assume it's pure TE and make your diagram tomorrow.

So if it is drug-induced.. is that worse then TE , better.. or just different haha?

It might just be different. It sounds like you're shedding an OK amount. 20 hairs isn't too bad.
I took accutane for 6 months, 80mg for 3 months and the rest for 60mg. And im still losing hair, and my hair loss is all around my hair not in a specific place, is that good?, I try not to wash my hair that much, like every 4 days or so, so the oil can stay there. Also im noticing my hair is alot more oily and my face is also and im getting a few pimples, maybe like 4 a month and they appear and leave quick also, the whitehead comes out and it goes away in about 2 days. Well im happy that im oily again. Is that a good thing dose this mean the accutane is wearing off. im on my 6th month.
Hey guys, so i have come to the conclusion i probably have lupus. I have so many of the symptoms that i will be going to my DR the second i get home and demanding they test me for it. The sun exposure i have had whilst i have been in florida has helped me spot that i probably have lupus, i still have the mouth ulcers (which have got worse as of late) my hairloss has sped up, my skin becomes extremely itchy after sun exposure, along with strang rashes, i'm always dizzy, i have something similar to rosecea but not quite it.... This is a true living nightmare and i wish the fucking hairloss was my only problem i really do...

Don't give up hope quite yet. When you go to the doctor, get an ANA test. I think that's what it's called, and it's for lupus. Even if you have symptoms of lupus, the hair loss is still not definitely permanent. The odds get worse, but there's still hope.
Hang in there.
my friend's mom has lupus and i've never noticed her hair to be thinner. does it only happen to certain people, or does everyone with lupus experience it?
lupus is an awful disease. i really hope you don't have it bud.
Apparently only a few. Also, it occurs at the onset and is not necessarily permanent.

Well i have been reading many lupus forums, damn those people are strong...the hairloss seems to come with the teritory, because if you don't get it from the onset of the disease you can get it from the drugs to control the symptoms. Most of them have it grow back though. Then again most of them are women.....
I should mention that I think my hair loss resembles the hair loss my father has/had. Not to get too depressing, but my father died when I was very young, so I don't have a point of comparison. But I found an album the other day and I see my hair future. I see hair growing back, and I guess I have to wait for it to get longer before I judge what's really going on, but I suspect I may have slipped into MPB.

Think it happens closer to 50% actually, it does fluctuate over time though yeah. I'm certain i have it though now, being out in the sun has made all my symptoms worse

Keep hope alive. Get the tests.

Thats another thing though mate, from reading up on the subject, it can take up to 4 tests to even detect it, when i say 4 tests i mean at different time periods, because the body fluctuates. And tbh when it is mild they won't be willing to even test me in the first place probably... I truely am in a terrible situation, if it was worse then they would be more willing to do the tests, but i will probably have to strugle on until it becomes visably significant....

Sorry to hear that man...The hair will continue to grow back in mate, it won't all come at once, over the last few days i found more posts/articles saying it took up to a year after the shedding stopped for it to return to normal.
P.s. i hate this new forum layout, makes it harder to read the threads in order!!

new forums layout?? check options at top of page
Lol thanks for pointing that out dolph, think i'm going slightly retarded aswell... i'm joking, but i actually wouldn't be suprised...
haha trust me no youre not it happened to me once as well and I was making posts everywhere complaining about the new layout, felt pretty dumb afterwards too.
by the way I have really good news I inspected my hair again and I still have some short hairs at the front of my hairline, but I have a lot of really short hairs filling in the spot where I noticed the most thinning to the point that there was NO hair at all, my left temple. I was already beginning to accept that I had lost it for good.

Rudolph, can I make a stupid diagram for you? I really want to see if these things can predict what's going on. That'd be pretty cool.
