The answers I got from my doctor about hair loss

Ok, i also don't seem to be tanning on my face, i also hate to admit it but i sometimes use fake tan (helps hide red marks) and for some strange reason i also wondered why my face didn't tan properly, now i have discovered the link...keratin, what's the main component of our skin, hair etc? this protein... Fake tan binds to it, for some reason i have a lack of keratin in my face, so does ithappens and ron...Related to our hairloss? almost certainly, i have no idea how we could possibly rectify the problem though....

So the reason I brought up tanning in the first place is because tanning is linked to how much iron you have in your system. And vitamin A interacts with iron. And iron is important to hair. I'll come up with some crazy, useless theory about this soon.

Also, is everyone aware that zinc is crucial to the metabolization of vitamin A? I know I've come across this fact in one of the "Accutane hair loss" websites (with the picture of the frustrated girl parting her hair with her hands). Zinc is also important to hair, probably because it interacts with iron ... somehow. I wonder if we have a zinc deficiency because a lot of zinc was used to metabolize a lot of vitamin A, hence hair loss. Just one more thought from crazy Uncle Andy.

We should give it time.. my face did got some tan after my first time but it took time and i'm prety much too white(with some red) at my face and body! but arms and legs seem to get tan.

the thing is i'm starting my basic trainig on sunday(if they won't kik me home for recovery time) so i will return here to get updates once a week/2/3.. hopefully as time goe's we all will get good recovery.

Also lets all try to warn people around us so they don't get the chance to join us... but damn i wouldn't beliave it if i didn't suffer from it! too drastic for us isn't it?

P.s andy my old derm gave me zink pills and vit E!.. also i had bad blood test at the time my shed started.. i had low b12 and too high iron. now it is pretty much o.k but still had to get some b12 shot(very painfull shit).

I really hate being depressive, but accutane has messed me up so badly, sure maybe most of it is superficial stuff, but i also seem to get dizzy all the time.

Since i have been on holiday in the heat, i seem to flush all the time, i have broken capilaries coming to the surface, i have so many scars (didn't have one before accutane) i really really can't take it much more, i seem to be falling apart. I can't think of one side effect i haven't experienced from the fucking drug (since starting and until now there isn't one side effect i can think of i haven't experienced) and i seem to be getting more and more depressed as time goes on. I really hope i get some sort of break soon coz i can't take much more, the hairloss is just one of the things im having to deal with............

my scars went away after almost a year after the drug (became with the skin color and all) but now they are noticible again as my face is dry and oily some times(couse of the climate here in israel) and now i'm preety much depressed as well but i have many other reasons to be.

http://www.baldrus.com makes some great points about not getting a hairpeice or translpants. I just realized that once i'm done with propecia for this month i'm not getting it again. i seen no point in becoming a slave to medication just because companies like to feed off peoples' insecurities. i think i'm going to shave my head sometime within the next month...

I will get some up when im back in the UK ina few weeks, i will show u pics of my hairline a few months ago and now... There is definate recession, all be it not major...I am the same other than my temples though, i'm not worried about the rest of my scalp as it seems to be regrowing at an amazing rate, yet i still see little in the way of strong regrowth at my temples, the hairs all seem to be miniturised :(

Gotta draw the line sumwhere mate... But yeah if my situation got dire, i would probably try propecia, if i look like i have a shaved head through choice then i would be content with that at this point in time, i really don't see how my temples will recover though....

i agree with ithappens. i mean, i'll never be content with losing my hair, but if it happened in my 40s where, you know, it's normal and i enjoyed my youth i'd be a lot more content with it. the thing i hate is this is destroying my youth. i'm only 19 and need to be enjoying life and i'm holding myself back because of this garbage. besides, me balding wouldn't look right. i'm a smaller guy and look about 16. balding just wouldn't make sense on me at this point in my life.

I agree that there are some guys out there who can pull off the buzz look and still look good. If it works for ya then more power to you. In my case though I really need a decent set of hair on my head because of my height and the fact that i have a bump on the back of my head, and hair pretty much makes up for both the problems and covers them up. The problem i'm having at the moment is not so much that it looks like i'm balding yet, but the fact that my hair is this wirery mess that goes everywhere and looks like shit. people stare at me a lot and they have to be thinking like what kind of fuckin mess is on this guy's head. anyway, i too agree that even if my loss does stop or propecia does help me regrow some of hair it will be pretty much impossible to regrow it back to what it once was. If i can just get the loss to stop, and grow back a lot of the hair on the front top part of my scalp i'll be content.

I'm hopeing i can pull it off, i used to be pretty big built and i know i can get it back in the gym, i'm also 6 ft 2, so i have got some hope...The bumps may not look as big as they feel btw...

Hey Im just gonna update.. Im at the 3 months mark post tane and Im still shedding but I do see some really short hairs at the front of my hairline, not many, but its still something.

Another thing Ive seen some of you mention is that you dont tan or burn as easily now.. its funny you should mention that. I just went to Spain for 5 days and the sun was blistering hot and I was in it a lot during the days and now that its over I havent tanned or burned much at all. I have a bit more color, but before accutane I would burn so easily in the sun and get blisters on my face. I guess its not such a bad thing now..

i'm still shedding but only about 20ish hairs per shower. in all honesty, my mom showed me the amount of hair she loses when she combs her hair after a shower and it was more than i lose. so who really knows if i'm still shedding at this point. i'm just happy it's not the 60-80 i'd lose in the shower before.

every 5 days or so. sounds gross, i know, but because of accutane my hair really doesn't become greasy.

Damn man, 20 hairs every 5 days, that is definenetly 100% fine, i'm getting about 100 every day in the shower alone....

i just showered and lost about 30 hairs. i'm still hoping this number goes down to about 10-15. i also think i've had regrowth all along, because my hair the last 2 weeks has looked almost as thick as it used to be after i shower instead of a depressing thin mess. weird.

So I am definitely seeing new hair. But, like Mark (Lamarr1986), the hairs I see appear slightly miniaturized/unpigmented. I've thought of 5 possibilities, beginning with the worst:

1. This is vellus hair. MPB. Game over or soon to be over.

2. This is intermediate hair. After TE, one will grow intermediate hair, which is like long vellus hair. When those hairs cycle out, terminal, or normal, hair will appear.

3. I am only seeing the tapered tips of the hairs, which will be unpigmented and fine.

4. The hair is back, but the hair coloring cells (melanocytes) are still resting. This lag time between the two groups of cells occurs during recovery from TE.

5. These are gray hairs.

The thing that really pisses me off the most right now is that the right side of my hairline has receded a long, long way. I see hairs here and there, which if they grew would fill in the missing hairline. But I am not optimistic. I could live with this new hairline, but if the hairline went back, then was this MPB or is MPB right around the corner?

Well buddy, the thing that really worries me is that i see perfectly healthy hairs on the top of my scalp, but no what i would class as properly healthy hairs at my temples, all much finer. People on hairloss forums do sometimes say they turn into terminal hairs, with time. But i don't hold out much hope...

Plus mate, 3 months from now you will be seeing even more regrowth from the minox, i don't think you will be pushed any further into mpb.... it should only get better for you. My shedding however is rediculous, the plug here in my holiday home has a grid to catch hair and it is shocking how much i am loosing every day, really is scary, i can see a physical change in my hairs appearance day by day (mainly my temples)
