@gilang91astonishing the fact that it reacts so well and so quickly whereas there is only sulfur.
@Dsophobe this looks like a gel. if its a gel-
face has to be dry for application. start off by apply small amounts, I'd say pea size amount for chin mouth and nose area. leave it to dry for 30min then apply moisturizer over it if your skin feels dry.
if its a cleanser or wash, like a thick lotion then apply it on wet scalp amd face and leave for 2 minutes then wash it off.

I'm sure your serum has more than sulfur in it which makes it so effective. maybe he mixes benzoyl peroxide with sulfur?? it can't just be sulfur because I've never seen anyome have such good results.

i dont think there is bp on it, because i never had experience with dryness.
i had experience with bp long time ago. it made my skin very dry. and only worsen the condition. believe me, making your skin as dry as possible is not a good idea, you are totaly wrong, dryness will only make it worse. find a product that doesn't dry up your skin.
@silverlight22thanks. I finally succeeded to translate the instructions for use (the product come from Germany, the nearest country that sells BP cleanser without prescription...!) : the gel need to be applied only 1 to 5min an be rinced whereas the cleanser/wash have to be apply on a wet face then you have to scrub and rinse. It seems strange to put BP during 30 without rince it..

My new derm says he has treated somebody similar to me and they achieved full remission of symptoms. Can't find (m)any cases on this online though, really. But I have to say., he's the best Derm I've ever seen... and it's not close.
In the meantime, I'm focusing on trying to build my gut health as much as possible. That way, if I do decide to take the antibiotics I may face less damage to the microflora.
Yeah I have similar skin issues to you as well, I get occasional pustules on my chest and on my scalp. I'm almost 100% sure it's not rosacea.
Adding probiotics to my diet did help a bit, along with a healthy diet. But diet and supplementation alone hasn't fully gotten rid of the folliculitis.
I've been trying Defense soap out for the past few weeks after I shave, but it hasn't really done much. I'll continue to use the soap as a body wash after hockey though =D
I will try sulfur soap out soon. Just to note, my skin is quite good and I only have maybe 3-4 smaller pustules a week. I just colour them in with a purple sharpy marker and they look fine. BP once a night has been the best for me so far.
Regards,
@jcbdigger365@LazyHow is it going? Are you still successful with theAzelaic Acid? thx
@MaiconHey buddy! How strange I just thought Id give this feed a check and low and behold a question for me.
My skin is errr fantastic, had one pustule sprout up in the last two weeks, but Im not entirely surprised as I flew for 12hrs jet lagged and just generally exhausted. My parents have cant believe how much better my skin is, my dad even said you actually have some nice colour! Haha
What Ive noticed is environment and water have a huge effect on my skin... I travelled to Chicago and the water was soft and the humidity was high, my skin felt amazing.. I came home and the water is the hardest in the entire country where I live, skin felt dry oily however no pustules what so ever! After a couple of days skin readjusted and was fine the difference being during this period in the past Id have pustule outbreak well not anymore! Im back to work now where the water is chorinated a lot and Im stuck inside for 3 weeks, so this will be another good test. So far so good no pimples, pustules or anything, this one pustule I had went in a day, I just left it. Never have I been so happy with my skin!
@jcbdigger365 That's awesome! Thanks for the feedback. I also ordered the Finacea Gel and will try it soon.
I did some research and apparently Azeliac Acid is produced naturally by Malassezia furfur, a yeast that lives on normal skin (source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azelaic_acid ). Maybe for some reason we don't have enough of this yeast on our skin or some circumstances are disturbing the natural production. Who knows, but it's good to finally have something to support our skin
Hey guys my skin is clear after using benzoyl peroxide gel for about 2 weeks! I'll take dryness/flaking over pustules any day! Also, I think I might be able to shave again xD.
I might even switch to using azelaic acid sometime in the future as it doesn't cause dryness like BP does.

@FungalAcneLooks good! What's your BP routine?
Is that dryness around your mouth or facial seb derm? Not to alarm you, but I have similar flakyness around my mouth caused by seb derm. Keep me posted!

Thanks! All i do is apply BP gel around my nose, mouth and chin every night before i sleep. If i get flaky, i just exfoliate with oatmeal+water in the morning. It's very possible that i have seb derm, since ive been on the caveman regimen for almost a year. Its not really a concern of mine but i have been making a kombucha-like drink (full of probiotics) to hopefully apply topically onto my skin and replenish my skin biome (and ultimately get rid of these pustules forever). I still have to wait about a week or so until the kombucha is fullly fermented.
Ivebeen doing alot of research, and alot of papers are concerned with how skin products end up damaging the skin and stripping the skin barrier. So after a little more digging i came across a few YouTube videos where people have cured MRSA skin infections (in which various antibiotics were unable to treat) by applying probiotic substances like kefir and kombucha on their skin. That's how i came to a realization that we are in a similar situation and need a similar cure. There's a good possibility that this could 100% cure both the pustule problem and seb derm.
I had (yes, had) the problem with the pustules around mouth for about 2-3 years. I've already posted on this topic maybe on april, when I was just in to regime and I'd like to share what helped for me once again.
I'd like to reveal my history with acne:
14 yo - 19 yo i had what i call "normal acne" - only roaccutane helped, i had 2 courses of it, after each course acne slowly showed up again. For "normal acne" diet helped - for some reason my body don't like carbs. So i basically eat meat/fish/chicken/eggs/low carb veggies/nuts. And I'm relatively clear of "normal acne".
After some time when I was about 20, those weird pustules appeared in the area around mouth only. Tried all sort of things (lotions, antibiotics, caveman regime, you name it..) in those 2-3 years as you probably did too.
The only thing that helps me is:
1. Lotion made in local pharmacy (the same one that my dermatologist prescribed when I was on accutane first 2 rounds);
+
2. Extremelly low dose accutane (I do drink 1 capsule of 20 mg once a 10 days).
I don't know if it is the lotion or the accutane or both. I did start using both of these the same day. I personally believe it's the lotion as my pustules around mouth were clearing already after first day of using it. Accutane doesn't work that fast. Still, I'm using both, just in case.
It took me about a month to get completely clear (yes, completely), though i had like 2-3 little pustules left only after a week of this regime.
The lotion is made in local pharmacy (Lithuania) and it's like 4-5 euros, 1 bottle is enough for me for 2 months. I get recipe from my dermatologist. Don't know why, but you need recipe for it. The lotion consists of:
- Laevomycetini 2.0
- Ac. Salicylici 1.0
- Sulflur p.p. 2.5
- Glycerini 5.0
- Aethanoli 70o 100ml
I've learned my lesson and I won't say it will help for you. For me it does help. And I'm extremelly happy with my life now.
Sorry I don't have picture with pustules as I was too gloomy to take it. I will add picture of how my mouth area looks now (3 months + clear, not only 1 pustule).
I believed there is no solution for those weird pustules, but I found it. You will find too.

@Husky124That's great news, thanks for sharing. However,Laevomycetini seems to be an antibiotic...

True...
This studie confirms the interest for Azelaicacid https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1506349
Personally, I will not take Accutane. I've had more than one Derm try to push it on me, but I've read more than one article that states it can increaseS. Aureus on the skin. If anyone reading this is considering Accutane, please be aware of this and discuss it with your doctor. If they dismiss it or act dumbfounded, find a new one that will read the literature before making this recommendation to you. I believe it's this reason that some who have taken Accutane have reported folliculitis outbreaks after using it or during treatment. If you've ever had issues with S. Aureus, keep this in mind.

Paradoxically, Accutane has been a great help to me for reducing my folliculitis ...... However I don't know if I have gram negative or postive folliculitis (but I think this is gram positive : when you have it on the scalp, back and nostrile like me, this is often staph aureus..)
On 14/09/2018 at 12:14 AM, Thinker5 said:This is why I believe cultures are important to have done. How long has it been since your Accutane treatment?
I did two cultures (pustule + nostril) : nothing found...
I took Accutane during 6 month : my skin became clear very quickly and during 9month after the treatment it was pretty good (80% clear). It came back progressivly but less strong then before the treatment.
I read som articles about paleo diet :Some doctors like Loren Cordain think that many factors (stress, bad diet, alergy, gut dysbiosis etc.) can trigger problems with blood glucose and insulin resistance (which increases the production of sebum and dead cells) and chronic inflammation (weaker immunity, more bacteria on the skin).. wich leads to acne and certainly folliculitis.
This is exclatly what I think. This is not only bacterian and limited to the skin. There is a root cause. Since many month I suspect high glycemic food to increase my condition. For exemple, I try BP since several week. This is pretty good. But I continue to have folliculitis "crisis" after some days of bad diet : several pustules appears in the same time at several places of my face and scalp. It is not an hazard..

jcbdigger, Im very happy this worked for you. Can you please tell us if you continued with the diet as well ? No dairy foods and low sugar ?
For me is the worst when I eat eggs, milk, yoghurt, chocolate, anything that contains dairy, and sweets, high glycemic index foods. But is very hard to keep this diet, its making me frustrated and furious, I want to eat anything i please, without having to worry about breaking out later on.
If you use sulphur soap and BP, can you eat anything you want ?

Just FYI, Accutane was what caused my folliculitis in the first place. I tried a second course of Accutane and it did help, but the pustules came back a few weeks after.
Maverick, hey buddy! Havent been on here for a while now I keep checking back to see how youre all doing.. I havent had a pustule since which is probably 6 weeks now Ive lost track, its a great feeling. I can eat whatever I want with no problem.. good luck! Oh and I Azeliac acid not BP

Does your regiment work with any cleanser +Azeliac acid, or does it have to be the sulfur cleanser? Also, does it still work without the manuka honey mask? When I tried using a sulfur cleanser - it seriously dried my skin, and any kind of exfoliation used to irritate the hell out of my skin.
