Finally the day has come - Today I started FMT therapy in the hope to address the root of this issue. It will last for 12 days and I assume in order to see any potential progress it will take around 2-3 weeks, I'll let you guys know how it went and perhaps post an update if there's anything worth mentioning in the meantime.
Hi Dude, any update of your FMT ? 🙂

Hi Dude, any update of your FMT ? 🙂
Yeah, didn't go very well. By the third day I had a very bad reaction to FMT, high fever, so I had to stop the treatment. After a few days I was fine, but overall it didn't make really any difference when it comes to zits.
Of course, I'm not giving up :)) I am currently experimenting with another possible solution, I'll report here in a few weeks if it makes any positive results.
Hey everybody! I have found my people finally. After so much research I've finally found this thread and it makes me really happy that other people have/are going through what I am. Hopefully we can all figure this out.
I've been having this problem for a little under 2 years now, and prior to this issue, I've had "amazing skin" as told by my friends.
I am an Asian (Chinese/Vietnamese/Japanese) 23m and this acne issue has began as soon as I began my body transformation. I was always really skinny my whole life, and I had decided to begin a dirty bulk and powerbuilding journey on October 13th, 2022. Since then I have put on 50lbs of both fat and muscle mass. I began at 110lbs and I am currently sitting at 162lbs as of June 25, 2024.
I went from eating a well balanced diet cooked by my parents, to moving out during university and bulking with a whole list of new foods to my diet. Most notably I have been eating a lot more fast food as well as drinking whole milk & protein powder. I drink at least 20oz of whole milk & two scoops of whey protein every single day for the past 1.5 years. I pretty much eat oily and fatty dense calorie foods to meet my calorie goals. A typical day of eating would look like: Banana, Yogurt, & Protein shake with whole milk for breakfast, Chipotle Bowl for lunch, Chips or granola bars or beef jerky for a snack, Mcdonalds for dinner, & A PBJ sandwich with another protein shake for a midnight snack.
The acne problem has been getting progressively worse since this journey. It could be that I am getting more testosterone from power-lifting and gaining weight. It could be the introduction of whole milk & simply eating more junk. It could be something else entirely and I have no idea. I just know that the timeframe lines up.
As of today, I am beginning to cut out milk from my diet and am replacing it with oat milk. I will not be cutting other forms of dairy such as yogurts and cheeses as I never had an issue with them before (I highly suspect whole milk).
I will be documenting my journey to solving this issue on this thread. Hopefully this can help someone in similar circumstances to me.
The first picture is from 2022 just prior to beginning this bulk, and the rest of the pictures are from my breakout today.
Sorry for the spam guys, but I forgot to mention that I am also cutting out ALL skincare routine and going caveman. I will be trying to do this as natural as possible as suggested by Eevs with the addition of cutting out milk since milk is one of the few new factors I have added to my life since my weightlifting journey.
I also want to mention that im adamant on not using any chemicals like BP or SA, and I will not be taking any medication like Doxycycline or Accutane. I have not yet seen a dermatologist for this condition. I am unwilling to do or take anything that can affect my performance in the gym.
More possibly important things to note:
- Not taking any steroids for my acne or for my weightlifting.
- Taking 5g of creatine daily.
- I vape nicotine & regularly take marijuana edibles.
- Not taking any medication whatsoever, not even an occasional simple antihistamine or ibuprofen - Nothing
- Never took antibiotics.
- The rest of my face besides mouth & chin are completely clear of any acne. The redness on my nose & cheeks are sunburns.

Welcome to the club! Wish you luck.
update i had been clear for a very long time, 100% clear just with very minimal skincare routine of BP face wash in the PM followed by a basic moisture and then gentle cleanser in the morning with shower. the face wash is a better method than the leave on gel as you can really massage it into the pores and also you can wash it off whenever you like.
this had worked incredibly well but i went on holiday recently and got a deep tan, when i returned after about 3-4 days i started getting the pustules again, its now been 2 weeks since ive been back and ive had the biggest breakout ive had in probbaly 3 years.
i think what has happened is
1) i got slightly burnt on my face which caused dryness = more oil production
2) my skin started peeling, i made the horrible mistake of exfoliating the dead skin off my face and pretty sure i overexfoliated and damaged the skin barrier - becasue now BP burns my face.
#1 advice and its been said here before do not exfoliate your skin, especially after a shower. ive had about 20 pustules since ive been back and a few of them raised and inflammed, they take weeks to fade.
Hey guys! m20 here and just read the whole thread and decided to have a simple skincare routine (gentle cleanser and moisturizer only), de la cruz sulfur ointment for spot treatment, vitamin D3 supplements, less carbs and sugar meals, and taking probiotic foods (ACV, greek yoghurt, kimchi, and stuff). I also decided to incorporate sunbathing for the immune boost stuff.
Had this condition since I was a teen, but not as severe. Had pustules and several nodular acne on the eyebrows, nose bridge (where my glasses rest), chin, nose crease, and both cheeks. Went to several derms but it doesn't seem to go away. Tried differin and it severely dried my skin out causing more pustules. Antibiotics cleared it instantly, but it is certainly not a sustainable solution. Hope I would solve this problem quickly cause this thing took a toll on my mental health.
I'm planning to use BP and azelaic acid if this doesn't work because I believe my skin barrier is compromised knowing from my flaking and bumpy skin texture although I routinely moisturize with a ceramide moisturizer at night.
Do you guys to wear sunscreen or just let the sun marinate your skin? I've heard derms say that the UV weakens skin barrier and stimulates oil production.
And do you guys double cleanse (w/ oil cleanser) to get the sebaceous filaments out before the facial wash?
@kswyl Does the protein powder that you take contain artificial sweeteners like aspartam or sucralose? Consider this also a reason, because these sweeteners can destroy good gut bacteria.
@maicon Yes it does contain aspartame and I also drink pre-workout & coke zero which also contains artificial sweeteners. Maybe you're onto something.
I've been following this thread for 9 years. I got clear in 2018 when I used healthyalmonds method of nasal and ear decolonization using chlorhexidine solution followed by daily use of BP to keep it away. Its the only thing that worked and what I've used for years. I've commented the whole process here somewhere in this thread in the past. Find it and give it a shot. I can now eat anything without worrying about if ill break out
Hello, I posted on this thread over 4 years ago. All this time I'd been struggling to find a solution. The good news is: I finally did! I always said I'd come back here to share if something truly worked.
What worked for me is squalane. I am 99% sure I was suffering from fungal acne, because many bacterial cures including oral antibiotics weren't effective. With fungal acne (malassezia) it's important not to use products that feed the microbes. Coconut oil was the worst for me. After reading up, I bought a big bottle of olive squalane and used it like an all-over moisturizer post-shower. I mix in a couple of drops of good quality tea tree oil too, but that might be optional. I don't need any other products; in fact I don't even use soap in the shower or moisturizer or actives afterwards anymore - just oil cleanse before bed. I top up the squalane a little in the morning in areas that used to be bad (e.g. chin) but once a day is probably enough.
There was some initial purging, but I saw results in only a few days. I don't mean to sound OTT but honestly, squalane was transformative for me. The only other thing I am doing is taking a daily dose of vitamin D along with supplements like magnesium and K1, which improved things a little before the squalane, however that might be unnecessary if you already have a good diet and plenty of sunlight.
If you try squalane I hope it helps you as much as it helped me. All the best.
My skin is clear for some months now and looks just amazing! I deleted my last post as I found a really effective and simple solution.
First I bought a shower head with a filter to filter out the minerals which certainly cause problems. Hard water is bad for your facial skin. I wash my face with water whenever I am under the shower, so every second day. I wash the face with water and a mild cleansing milk that doesn't dry out my skin.
On non shower days in the morning and the evening, I use cleansing wipes for babies on my face! I use the simplest one, they just contain water and BENZOIC ACID! This is a magic ingredient as iz has antifungal and antibacterial properties. Since the wipes are made out of natural fibre, they are really sensitive to my skin. I use these : https://www.dm.de/hipp-babysanft-feuchttuecher-soft-und-pur-18x48-st-p4062300446663.htmlIaIQobChMI3MiV5bqkiQMVXqloCR3JeCTnEAQYBCABEgKg8PD_BwE
Diet wise I now suggest a balanced diet. Avoid milk, cheese is fine. Avoid sugary foods. Eat vegetables, fruit, meat, whole grains, pseudograins, fermented stuff. Everything organic and most natural quality, especially the animal products.
