Day 69
It has been a while since my last progress pictures, so here is one: The white stuff right beside my nose is some aspirin to calm down an upcoming pimple. Not sure if it works though, but I just couldn't resist to put some on it.
As you can see it's definitely way flatter than before. My skin feels so much smoother and softer which is amazing! Still getting pimples, but it's getting less and less every day, so I think I will be (totally) clear from active acne pretty soon. The main problem for now is the red marks all over my cheeks and forehead. It's pretty devastating because from a distance it still looks like I have pretty bad acne I am pretty sure it's gonna take at least a few months for them to fade away naturally. pfff....I am so impatient. Anybody has any tips? I already tried sudocrem but I am not sure if it works...
Day 77
Went to the derm today for the second time to check my blood and talk about how it's all been going for the last 2.5 months. I asked her what I should do to prevent the cracked corners of my mouth, but she said I couldn't do much besides using vaseline like every hour. Oh well...haha I guess I'll have to get through this period of dryness. I am still on 30mg/day by the way
I have the cracked corners of the mouth at the moment too! I've been recommended 1% hydracortisone cream - I started using it yesterday afternoon, applying 3 times a day. If I see no improvement by tomorrow I'm going to my local pharmacy to ask for advice. I'll let you know what happens!
@Astarte Thank god I'm not the only one with that problem. The right corner of my mouth has finally healed up, so just one side to go haha.
Day 91
And the 3 months mark has been reached! Yeeeyyy! The last 2 weeks my skin has definitely improved greatly. I can really see that the red marks are slowly fading away and even though I still do get some new pimples I am pretty sure it's not gonna take very long anymore till I'm totally clear from active acne The side effects haven't been that bad either for the last 2 weeks. I had a nose bleed, dry skin and some lower back pain, but other than that I should be very satisfied.
I am gonna post a picture very soon!
Day 117
It's been a while since my last update because I have been very busy with school, but here it is! I think I can finally say that I am clear for almost 100%, which is totally amazing My life has gotten so much better in such a short period, it's incredible. I feel way more comfortable in public, I am slowly getting back my self-selfesteem, I am eating whatever I want, I am enjoying life way more, I have less things to worry about, I finally started things I have been wanting to for a very long time etc. For now, I am pretty sure Accutane was one of the best decisions ever! Ofcourse, I am not totally ready yet, because I need to take Accutane for at least another 3 months, but so far the results have been amazing!
If you have a question, please ask! I would love to help you guys with anything!
Hey buddy. I'm on 20mg, around day 60 and your log is helping me keep my chin up! most people seem to be on a 40mg+ dosage so i wasn't sure if it'd take longer to start seeing results for me. i'm going to look forward to my day 100 haha, your skin is looking great!
I am really glad it's helping you keeping your chin up! I had trouble keeping my chin up and being positive as well so I know how you're feeling, but I am sure you're gonna see improvement very soon I got through it, so you can do it as well!!
Day 171
It's been a loongg time since my last update, I know haha, but there wasn't really anything to report. Today I went to the derm and she said I should stop using it because the results are very good and I am already about 6 months on accutane. (30mg/day) Although I am very happy I can finally stop taking accutane and let my skin heal, I am also a little bit afraid that my acne is gonna come back after a few months. 6 months of 30mg/day seems a little too less to me. I weigh 56kg and the cumulative dose of Accutane is 120mg/kg. (that's what I've read anyway) If I complete my last few pills I have taken about 180x30mg = 5400mg in total. The cumulative dosage = 56x120 = 6720mg. Should I be worried? I told my derm I was kinda sceptical, but she said 120mg/kg is really not necessary.
I'm soooooo jealousssss!!! U look great, I can't tell u had acne!

Haha thank you very much! I see you are on Accutane as well? I am sure your skin will look great in no time as well! Just keep on being positive and don't try to think to much about it. In the end it will be all worth it!
Week 14/15 post Accutane
My skin has been great since I got off Accutane. However, since a few weeks I'm getting more and more closed comedones / milia on my cheeks and I haven't changed anything in my routine...If I pinch a little, a tiny wisp? of hardened sebum comes out. I have also been getting some kind of acne under my eyes and arround my nose . It looks very different from the closed comedones though. It looks more like some kind of eczema.
Is it because of the dehydration the Accutane caused? Or is it some kind of side-effect?
I am really afraid my acne is all going to come back already. Anybody with the same experiences?Should I be worried? Should I go back to my derm?
Id try to get a topical or something so it doesn't come back

You should definitely go back to your derm for a post-accutane check up now that it has been about 3 months since you stopped. I also got what looked like very small acne-like bumps around my eye sockets and nose, and I still had some closed comedones pop in and out of existence a few months after stopping. My dermatologist recommended I use a topical (ziana) to prevent future breakouts and help with the closed comedones, and I can definitely see improvement (which is surprising since topicals did jack for me before accutane). In terms of the milia, I have that too. My dermatologist said they are very common post-accutane and a mild retinoid will help. They are basically what's left over from the inflammatory havoc cysts wreak in your pores. I think of them as little cyst gravestones, ha-ha.
You'll feel much better if you go to your dermatologist and talk to him / her about a post-accutane maintenance plan now that it's been a while since your last dose and your skin has had time to heal.
