Katie your skin looks great - you can really see it in the comparison photos. I think our bodies are like cars too, they break down and it's such a pain! You poor baby with the tonsil and toe at the same time. My son had an issue with an ingrown toenail from his soccer cleats but I caught it before it was bad and we soaked his foot in epsom salts a few times a day for a few days and we were able to gently pry it out. He was horrible about keeping his toenails cut (such a teenage boy, grooming is not usually their strong suit) but that ingrown incident cured him. He didn't like it at all, especially when I told him that if we couldn't fix it we'd have to make a trip to the doctor - "argh, not the doctor!!" Hahaha. Hope you're feeling better and have success getting an appointment.
Day 101
Not too much to say besides...
- My nostril is so sore and dry. First it was the left one, now the right one.
- No new actives!
- I became extremely light-headed last night after standing up. Probably lack of sleep...woops.
- I have toe surgery on Monday and I'm so nervous. Yes, I am a big baby.
I get tonsil stones too... they're gross! I got them for a bit last year and they suddenly made a new appearance yesterday. It may be because I've not been using mouthwash as frequently, I'm not too sure
I think I'll be looking into getting mine removed at some point when my body's recovered from accutane because they smell foul and when I cough one up I heave for ages afterwards because they're so vile! Glad to hear the accutane is going well for you
Wow, I didn't think they were that common! They are quite nasty. They definitely make me feel nauseated. They were really bad in October and November of last year for me. I remember being able to FEEL them in my throat, and eventually they would come out. I'd like to have my tonsils removed after the Accutane, as well. I wish they were removed when I was a kid!
Thank you! I'm very pleased with the results so far!

Thank you, Stacey!
I'm pretty bummed about these things that randomly go wrong at the same time, haha. Ingrown toenails are just plain awful. I usually get them, but not so deep in the skin, and I can usually soak the toe and gently get it out of there. But this one seems to be embedded into the skin of my toe. I'm scared it's only going to get worse. I'm wearing nice flip-flops at work today because I don't want anything rubbing against the toe. I usually wear flats that are too small (for some reason, no stores sell flats in half sizes so I get a half size smaller) and I'm sure that's a big factor to why I have this stupid thing. Thanks! I lucked out and found an office that is open and scheduled it for Monday at 5! The doctor's office literally walking distance from my work, which is cool, haha.
Now I'm super nervous about the appointment.
Tonsil stones?! What the hell is that? It sounds horrific... I had my tonsils and adenoids out when I was little because of a breathing issue when I slept. I guess that's why I have no idea what they are. But they sound scary.
They're so annoying, Rachel!
Wikipedia says:
Tonsilloliths, also known as tonsil stones, are clusters of calcified material that form in the crevices of the tonsils.[1] While they occur most commonly in the palatine tonsils, they may also occur in the lingual tonsils.[1] Tonsilloliths have been recorded weighing from 300 mg to 42 g.[1] They are composed mostly of calcium, but may contain other minerals such as phosphorus and magnesium, as well as ammonia and carbonate.[1]
Be glad that you don't have them. I wish that my tonsils would've been taken out at a young age, but I never had a problem with anything up until my teenage years when I first started getting these buggers.
Skin Update:
So, I mentioned that I do have one very small active on my jawline that has been there for a long time. Well...I felt it, and it felt a little bigger...so being the compulsive skin-picker that I am, I picked it. It bled. Woops. There's probably a red mark there now that I should cover up because I'm at work.
Must. Stop. Picking.
Yikes! Tonsil stones sound terrible.
Would you get your tonsils removed??
STOP PICKING!!!
They kind of are! I had wanted to before my acne got bad, I was actually planning on seeing an ENT specialist...but then the acne took over, and of course, I put my tonsil stone problem on the back-burner. 🙁
Haha, I need special gloves or acrylic nails because I'm so bad!!!
YOU GUYSSSS.. In 20 minutes I am leaving to get my hair cut, and I mean cut! I am so sick of my thick, long, dry, dead hair, that I need something cute and healthy!
I will be posting a picture at 830 tonight cause after my haircut I work!
WOOOOO!! I'm excited to see your new hair Taylor!
I'm sure it'll look fantastic! 😀
I am a picker too Katie! It was such a challenge for me during my IB to not pick - I was better than normal but I couldn't give it up entirely. Now my picking has moved to my scabbed up arms - I feel like I have small scabs everywhere from all the scratches and nicks. I don't really have any on my legs just my arms and my back because my back is so itchy I keep scratching it and then I leave myself with little cuts all over it. I actually feel a little light headed today but I think it may be cuz I haven't had much water to drink and normally I'm pretty good at getting that water in. Sooooooo, I think I'll go get a bottle of water here very shortly.
Glad to hear you've got your surgery set - that will be good to get it taken care of. I actually went and got a pedicure today and it was awesome! Maybe you can reward yourself with that once you're all healed up.

It's my worst habit. I used to do it without even noticing I was doing it; that's pretty bad haha. I haven't messed around with this one lingering zit since yesterday. I'm just going to leave it alone. I hate feeling light-headed. I know it was lack of sleep - I need to start going to bed earlier. I get into the habit of staying up late, and it's hard for me to stop. I love water! I had a bottle last night before bed and my mom said, "That's boring!" I told her how much I love it now that I'm on Accutane. It's hard to understand just how thirsty this drug makes us!
Ahhh, pedicures! I love them, except I always laugh because I'm so ticklish. But I haven't had one in over a year. I'm going to when I'm healed up from my surgery. 🙂
HEYYYY!
Sorry I've been MIA, I stayed at my friends last night, and just got home a lil bit ago and had to get ready for work.
TADAAAA

Aww Taylor your hair looks adorable! 😀
2 days without actives is awesome! Just wait and it will turn into a week! I've somehow managed to go almost two weeks without any new actives appearing! 🙂
gorgeous, taylor!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it looks *really* good on you. do you blow dry your hair in general? mine is so dry and nasty that i feel like I can't blow dry it. i try to only wash it every other day, but it still feels dry and gross, despite having a haircut a few weeks ago. i used to have really oily and smooth hair. it's so WEIRD.
Day 103
So it's been ridiculously HOT -- it was 100 degrees yesterday, but I think the heat index was 115. Pretty ridiculous. I didn't leave the house until 7pm, and it was still muggy and sticky out. Not a fan of the excessive heat.
I don't think I drank enough water yesterday, plus I only had one small meal so I developed a shitty headache...that went away when I went out for drinks later that night. My friend told me that Redbull & Vodka cures headaches, and I was surprised when it worked.
Anyway. My skin. My two week long record of not developing any new actives was broken today. I'm constantly running my hands along my face when I'm home out of habit. So today I felt a very tiny baby zit right above my cupid's bow near my lip. Then I looked in the mirror to notice it's a whitehead. Meh, whatever. I'm just hoping it doesn't decide to grow into something large and lovely. Then, yesterday, while I was getting ready I noticed an under the skin bump on my right cheek. It actually feels like something is there -- but it doesn't look or feel like it's a zit yet? I'm waiting for something to pop up on my cheek now.
So I have a few errands to run today. I'm going to go to the pharmacy today (finally) to get Simply Saline because my nose is really bugging me. The dried blood is getting old.
Hey Kaydon! Sorry about the bump and the whitehead, but at least that's all it is right?
Thank you all for the compliments!
Gina - I do not blow dry my hair. I used to, but my hair has gotten soooo damn dry, that I refuse to kill it some more. Even though I got about 6 inches cut off, my hair still feels sort of like hay cause Accutane is making it so dry, and I don't even straighten or curl is a ton.

It has been really hot here too! I am getting sick of it! I just want the windows open without all the heat and the humidity outside! Like 82 and breezy. Thats is what I want. I am so sick of 100's ughhh.
Haha redbull and vodka cure headaches. Enough of any booze cures my headaches 🙂 Although I am not a vodka fan. Im a Tequila fan... mmmmm makes my mouth water in a good way. I like rum a lot too! You would usually find me with a beer in my hand though. Mich Golden light mmmmm. Haha look at me going on about booze, I sound like a drunk now haha.
Let me know how the saline spray works for you, I have just been doing the aquaphor or vaseline up the nose. Gross but it works!

Hey Taylor! Yes, things could be much worse & things have improved A LOT! So I am very happy. 🙂
You're welcome! I love the curls. I wish I could curl my hair!!

It's pretty bad when the sun is down and it's still muggy out! YUCK. I hate sweating, so I hate when it's hot like this. I don't mind 90 degrees, but anything above that makes me want to stay in air conditioning all day.
I was skeptical about it, but halfway through my drink my friend asked me if I still had a headache, and I was like HOLY CRAP, NO! I loooove vodka. I can't really handle any dark liquor, I have a very week stomach. I've been sticking with beer though throughout my Tane course since pretty much every time I've had anything other than beer I've gotten sick from it. I was fine though this morning! 🙂 I love Miller Lite or Bud Lite Lime. SO GOOD. Hahahah now we both sound like little alcoholics on the forum...oh boy.
The saline spray seemed to help somewhat as far as dryness is concerned. However, my nostril is sooo sore. I hate the feel of Aquaphor up there, but I've been doing that a lot lately!

I HATE sweating too! So nasty, I feel just disgusting when I sweat. If I sweat on my face I feel like I am going to breakout all over the place. I freak when I sweat. Ughhhhhh
At least we sound like alcoholics together hahaha. I have have Bud Lite Lime once before and I thought it was good! I never think to order it when I am out or anything. I think of it as a summer beer though, something with lime reminds me of summer 🙂
Good luck with the toe surgery today!! I know it hurts like a son of a bitch! I hope that you feel better afterwards. I know it is such a relief to have it done once it is done. I dread getting it done though!

I start to freak out too! I always feel gross and prone to breaking out when I sweat.
Bud Lite Lime & Corona with lime are the best summer beers! They're actually refreshing. 🙂
Ahh thank you! I was ridiculously nervous before the surgery. The doctor told me that my toe was slightly infected, and he gave me a needle then I got light-headed so they gave me sugar pills! Hahaha. I felt better after that...and I couldn't look the whole time. But it's done, and it's over! Thank god. Now I have to soak it twice a day starting tomorrow in epsom salts for 15 minutes. Fun, fun. It's also on the foot that I drive with, so I'm not so sure how that's going to work out the rest of this week. I'm just glad to have it done before my insurance runs out. Thank god.
The podiatrist told me to get toe spacers though, and the reason why I got the ingrown was because the toe next to my big toe is so close to it, that the nail grows into the skin. I may look into them. I don't want another one of these things ever again!!!!

Glad your surgery went well, Katie! That does not sound fun!!
How's your skin? Is the new zit still lingering?
Day 104
Comparison of my face from two weeks ago (Day 90) and today (Day 104).
Woops, I have a little eyeliner smudge on my nose. I'm so happy with the way everything is going. The mini pimple near my lip went away after popping it. It never got any bigger, thank god. There are marks where zits were on my cheek, and underneath is the little bump that is probably going to turn into a zit? I'm not sure what's going on there, but with the improvement I have seen, I'm definitely not worried about not having success with this course.
Glad your surgery went well, Katie! That does not sound fun!!

Thanks Rachel! It was not fun at all. I'm glad to have it over with.
Skin is doing better than ever, the small zit is completely gone after popping it!
Your skin looks great Katie! Glad to hear the surgery went good - what a relief to have that over! Your lips look so good, how are you keeping them so moisturized? I am using the stupid aquaphor and lip balms and lotion but some days my lips just peel and peel and they are driving me nuts!

Thank you, Stacey! I'm so glad it's over. But I woke up last night around 3:30am in pain. I was actually crying, it was that bad. I couldn't sleep, and I've been awake since! Not sure what time it is where you are, but it's 10:30am here. I'm going to stick it out through this work day, and try not to be on my feet too much. Removing the bandages make me feel really disgusted, but I've got to do it. I can't wait for it to heal.
I don't know why my lips look good in pictures! They are actually quite chapped. I'm constantly applying Burt's Bees in work, then Aquaphor when I'm home. I really miss my normal lips, and nose.

Awwwww! I'm so sorry you're in pain and that sucks to be woken up by it. I can imagine it must be throbbing. I accidently kicked a kitchen cupboard yesterday and my big toe was killing me just from that so I can't imagine having surgery on it - ouch!! Did they give you any pain pills? Can you put your foot up at work? I'm sure having it down with all the blood rushing to it doesn't help. It's the same time here as where you are cuz I'm in FL - we're on the same coast. It's probably going to feel like a long day for you - I hope it goes quickly so you can get home and baby yourself! 🙂
