Day 91
Everything worked out with my doctors office and iPledge and I picked up my script yesterday. Woohoo. 
So today things are looking¦meh. :/ Could be better, could be worse. Ya know¦the usual lately.
I have a total of three actives; one on the right side of my forehead that has grew in the past few days since I first noticed it. It™s a whitehead. I tried popping it this morning, but that didn™t work. I popped my cheek pimple last night and now there™s a decent sized red mark on my face. Then I noticed that this bump that has been between my eyes on the right side is getting a little bigger. It actually looks like a zit now, before it was just a bump that wasn™t doing anything. I wasn™t sure if it was a zit or not, but now I™m pretty sure it is.
I think I will start to feel much better once I stop breaking out. It™s hard to remain so hopeful as you get further into this treatment and you™re still getting new zits. Sometimes I can™t believe that I am already at month four! My acne is MUCH more resistant this time around. It is very, very stubborn and I have no idea why. I think that my dermatologist thought that I would be clear by now. Yes, I have improved a lot; but why am I still breaking out? It baffles me because by this time in my last course I wasn™t breaking out like this.
I just have to remain patient. That™s all there is to it. Worrying about this medication not working for me isn™t going to make this any eaiser.
The good news? My jawline is smooth and all that™s left are some pink marks from where the acne used to be. This is awesome.
Just remember to think about it how Betsy is... There's been a lot of improvement since you started. And that's a great thing!
Accutane WILL work for you. It's just going to take a little more time, but you'll get there!
That is true. I need to stop thinking so much about this all the time, but it's hard. Two more months is a lot of time to heal, I think. And I'll be over my cumulative dose by the end of this, so I feel like there's no reason why it won't work.
Gotta remain patient and calm. 🙂

I feel like I always say this but acne has always given me ups and downs and false hope. I mean just when it's getting better all hell breaks loose. I find myself thinking if this spot goes away I'll be clear but then another spot shows up and another and the cycle goes on and on, my dreams are crushed. Plus let's not forget my least favorite red marks they love hanging around forever.
Anyway I think venting and supporting each other is awesome and you guys have a great forum here, for everyone to help each other out, thanks kaydon! Let's all keep our heads up! I'm also finding it really hard bring on tane in the summer sun, ah, anyone else?

No, I did not just wake up haha.
So I woke up this morning and my hands were flaking, it's soooo weird. The rest of my body is fine, but my hands are flaking, very noticeably, isn't that strange!?
My area around my mouth is still being a poop, thankfully the whiteheads came to a head, and I'm just going to leave them and let them go away. Instead of 4 actives, I have 3, it's weird.. one just disappeared? But that is fineeee by me!

I'm going mini-golfing today with my boyfriend, my bestie, and her boyfriend! That should be fun. On Thursday it's supposed to be 97 here, holy crapppp.. so us 4 are going to Port Washington, which is an area where Lake Michigan is and a beach
.. time for Taylor to put sunscreen on. I actually won't mind putting on the sunscreen cause I realized it does not break me out, I was more nervous to wear it, thinking it would break me out. I'm also going on a night swim with two of my girly friends later tonight and a bonfire, so that should be very relaxing!
I'm pretty excited for today. I'm trying to focus all my attention on my summer, considering I go back to school in 2 months, which I feel are going to go by fast... SENIOR YEAR THOUGH

You're 15 days ahead of me! Are you on a 5 month or 6 month course? I'm kind of worried because mine is 5 months, but I think everything should clear by then. I was just thinking the same thing about how whenever a mark disappears, a new zit forms. It's SO annoying.
It's easy to get down about it, but sometimes you have to look at how far you have came since starting. Do you see improvement? I can't get so upset about a few zits when I had like 25-30 zits at the same time, before starting 'tane.
I'm glad we all have each other for support! This journey is too tough to stick out alone.

My hands have been flaking too. Not even eczema...just flakey and dry. Yuck. I've been moisturizing a lot.
I'm glad things are clearing up for you! Hopefully those pesky whiteheads are gone by the weekend. I'm hoping mine are! I guess clear skin by my birthday isn't possible, but oh well. I would have it expected it to go this way from the beginning.
Ahh! Your plans sound super exciting! I'm jealous. I love swimming, and I LOVE bonfires. Have fun!! And definitely bring the sunscreen. I always thought it would break me out, too. But it never has. And senior year is exciting!!! You'll be going back with clear skin and you'll have the time of your life!

You should definitely do something different with your hair! I've been feeling like I want a cut but I promised myself years ago I was done with short hair. I'm trying to see how long I can grow mine before I go nuts and cut it again, hahaha. But a clear face & a new hair-do will make you feel great! Go for it! 🙂

I honestly had nothing but awful days where I found it hard to socialize and live my life the way that I used to all the way up until the start of month three. It was a very rough 60 days to go through. I know exactly how that feels. Remain patient, you will get to that point where things start to really change, I promise! And it will go by faster than you think!! 😀

Thank you! It just gets hard....when I think it won't get any worse, it does....and for me, at least, appearance has been a big deal since I was a little kid. So now as a young adult having to face such a disfiguring and gross malady sucks ass.
I am amazed at how strong all of us are though. Acne does a lot to self esteem!

I am where you are with the acne, things could be better, and things could be worse. ( not a dare, accutane. Just a statement ) I seriously cannot stop popping these white heads, I just have a hard time letting a big ol whitehead chillin on my face. So I cannot blame you for popping that cheek pimple. That left cheek zit I have is really nasty looking today. All scabby and big. One of those I popped and things didn't just go down like I was hoping. I met up with a couple of friends today that I haven't seen in about 3 months and I had to see them with this big thing on my face. I suppose I looked better than usual though. I used to work with one of them and she saw me every week with new breakouts and stuff. So I wasn't too worried about it.
I will feel so much better when I can stop breaking out for a week, just one week! I know if I get there that things really will be getting better. Before accutane I would get a new zit everyday! I also can't believe how resistant my acne is being. I knew it was a pain in the ass, and antibiotics and topicals weren't going to clear it. But I did think that accutane would knock it out. I did not think that I would be breaking out at this point. That goes to show assuming things with this medication isn't a smart thing.
Woohoo for a smooth jawline though! At least you know the pink marks will go away though! I can't wait for that!!!

There at least one poopy area everywhere on my face right now! Nothing is smooth!! So count yourself lucky! It is interesting though, you were going quite awhile there without and zits popping up. It was more blackheads right? I thought you were in the clear with the IB. Guess no one is lucky enough to avoid it! At least none of us are lucky enough for acne to have stopped in it's track. Bummer. We will all get there though!

It is supposed to be 96 here tomorrow and feel like 106! We are having a ton of flooding here. I am on day 106, good to know there is other's at the same point in my course that is still breaking out! It really sucks doesn't it! I have seen the more hope on this medication though. I never saw improvement with antibiotics or topicals, so it is very encouraging to see any improvement with this stuff. Although for all the crazy warnings and all the shit we had to go through to get our hands on the medication, I thought I would be clear by now. Like NOTHING acne wise can survive with accutane in your system... WRONG. I've been going 4 months strong with acne pushing through. Crazy! All the red marks that are coming with the healers are shitty too.
Are you keeping a log on here at all? If not feel free to join in on ours! We are all pretty tight with each other on here. It is nice, you are nice a great group of people here, help each other out and whatnot! As far as having issues with the sun this summer. I seem to be doing well, as long as I use sunscreen I can handle being out in the sun just fine. Just have to make sure that I cover every inch of skin!!

I've also been watching some YouTube videos on accutane here and there to give me hope because this journey is really exhausting emotionally and physically and seeing how other people have made it through and coped with the ups and downs, as we are doing here, it gives me something to look forward too. Especially on bad bad days this week. But ugh I gotta go back to work tomorrow on overnights which I'm nervous about because my skin has been so good lately, but I always get through it. Plus I'm looking forward to NYC on Friday with my amazing husband, we have both never been and it will be fun. Only I wish I had clear skin but my husband makes me feel so beautiful that it doesn't matter when I'm with him. Ok sorry for the rant. Hope everyone else is finding time to enjoy themselves amongst this acne war,

Having acne as a young adult is very upsetting. I care very much about my appearance and I feel like the face is something that should always look good, and not have a bunch of zits on it. We're all strong for going through with so many things to try and treat our acne, only to having to resort to Accutane. Just try and keep your head up as best as you can through this crazy rollercoaster ride. We're all here for support.

Thanks Betsy! Ugh, I hate meeting up with people with these things on my face. It's easier now since it's not AS bad as it was, but I'm still self-conscious about my appearance. I ended up popping my forehead pimple as well as the little whitehead between my eyes. Three all for my birthday week. I also got my monthly gift...so I'm not sure if that's why I kind of broke out. But there's no way to tell since I've been randomly breaking out for as long as I can remember.
I wish I didn't start this course with such high expectations! I had no idea what I was in for as far as the IB and how long it would take for me to start to clear. Since we've both improved a lot I feel as though we are going to clear up for good. Maybe it's just the tail end of this awful resistant acne. It needs to go the hell away for both of us already because this is very frustrating.
We'll get there my 'tane twin! It's only a matter of time and patience.
Hey question for you all. I've read that some of you have tried neosporin over your healing spots, maybe that you've popped/picked at. Do you really think it helps. I have two that I'm trying it on now but I'm worried that it might clog the skin immediately around it or that it's pointless to even try.

I've been using Neosporin ointment on both actives and healing spots. I know Betsy uses Neosporin cream, which is probably better since it's not as greasy. But I have a full tube of the ointment at home so I've just been using that at night. I think it helps a lot, or at least I like to think that it does.

Well 20 minutes later we're talking and all of a sudden my lips felt weird, and I took a look, and they were swelled up so huge, I was freaking out! I remembered that I am allergic to raw eggs, not cooked, just raw, and I was like fkljdklsfjsl!!!!! So my boyfriend picked me up and took me to urgent care last night, and I went home after that. I woke up after sleeping 9 hours and they still are a tiny bit swollen.
I'm so dumb! Hahah.

Holy cow Taylor!! Did they give you an antihistimine? Just what you need on top of accutane, right? 🙂 I'm glad you're doing better - bummer about the raw eggs, that definitely shoots the pleasure out of raw cookie dough. Love the animal pics, they make me smile!!!
Hang in there Katie! I'm sure it will get better. My brother was on accutane as a teen and his acne was severe and he didn't clear until the last month but he's been clear ever since and he's in his 40s! 🙂 I had my derm apt. yesterday for end of month two. She said I'm doing good but my cholesterol and blood sugar are still high. I guess that can happen on accutane but it's freaking me out. She said she's not worried at all, that I have plenty of wiggle room until they are too high and she's keeping me at 40mg for now - I'd like to go higher but I don't want to mess up my bloodwork. My biggest issue right now are the five or so bumps that are from old cysts that haven't gone away. She seems to think they were just so deep that they are going to take a long time to go away but that they will go away. I hope so cuz they feel like they're going to be permanent - ugh. Congrats on the clear jawline! That's where two of my bumps are - that jawline really takes a hit for some reason so it's an accomplishment that yours is clear. 🙂

I woke up after sleeping 9 hours and they still are a tiny bit swollen.
