I'm goooood! Today is my last day of work for the week! I have four days off for my birthday weekend. I took off tomorrow (my birthday) and Friday so I could have a four day weekend. I'm excited, even though I'm not sure what I'm doing tomorrow besides going out to dinner at my favorite restaurant with my family.

Hey question for you all. I've read that some of you have tried neosporin over your healing spots, maybe that you've popped/picked at. Do you really think it helps. I have two that I'm trying it on now but I'm worried that it might clog the skin immediately around it or that it's pointless to even try.

 

I've been using Neosporin ointment on both actives and healing spots. I know Betsy uses Neosporin cream, which is probably better since it's not as greasy. But I have a full tube of the ointment at home so I've just been using that at night. I think it helps a lot, or at least I like to think that it does.

 

Wow I don't know if it's just me wanting to make the neosporin work but my two bad spots look ways better. Ive been avoiding the mirror all day until i absolutely had to because i wasnt looking forward to what the damage was but it wasnt that bad! Its still not good. I mean I think it's a combo of me not doing anything to my face for the last 2 days except washing, moisturizing and the neosporin. But thank you guys for talking about it on here.mi have the ointment and it's fine but maybe I'll look into the cream.

Day 92

No new actives since Monday! The three buggers that I've popped in the past week are healing now. I hope they all go away quickly. The cheek zit is already flattening, so yay. It's the one in between my damn eyes that is pissing me off. Bah, go away!

I do have to say though that I am happy with the way that my face looked today with makeup on it. Despite the fact that it is obviously dry, it is looking SO much better than it did when I started Accutane. I'm feeling hopeful today, and I'm hoping that no new zits come out of nowhere. I really hope that from here on out things get better.

Side effects, meh. The only thing that's bothering me right now is the inside of my nose. It's SO dry and kind of bloody. I guess I'll just keep swabbing Aquaphor up there.

Hang in there Katie! I'm sure it will get better. My brother was on accutane as a teen and his acne was severe and he didn't clear until the last month but he's been clear ever since and he's in his 40s! I had my derm apt. yesterday for end of month two. She said I'm doing good but my cholesterol and blood sugar are still high. I guess that can happen on accutane but it's freaking me out. She said she's not worried at all, that I have plenty of wiggle room until they are too high and she's keeping me at 40mg for now - I'd like to go higher but I don't want to mess up my bloodwork. My biggest issue right now are the five or so bumps that are from old cysts that haven't gone away. She seems to think they were just so deep that they are going to take a long time to go away but that they will go away. I hope so cuz they feel like they're going to be permanent - ugh.Congrats on the clear jawline! That's where two of my bumps are - that jawline really takes a hit for some reason so it's an accomplishment that yours is clear.

 

Oh my goodness, how did I miss this earlier? I'm sorry!

I'm pretty sure my cholesterol is high, too, my dermatologist just hasn't mentioned it. I know it was high last time I was on this medication. Don't worry, it should go back down!

It's weird how this medication starts working at different points for everyone. I really hope that you start to clear soon! Just the fact that my jawline and all of those cysts healed gives me so much hope & I feel like I'm almost there!!! 🙂

Day 93

I am officially 23 years old! Well, "officially" as of 1:40pm today, but whatever! I'm off from work today, and tomorrow. I'm planning on enjoying my day. My sister and her friend are here so we're probably going to head to the pool. Then later I'm going to dinner with my family, and theeenn I'm going to my cousin's!

My face is looking a lot better. It's crazy. The whitehead on the left side of my cheek has like, shriveled up and is going away. The other two (in between my eyes, and on my forehead) are going away quickly, as well. Very happy about that. It's nice to wake up on your birthday and have a good skin day!

It was a great birthday. I spent two hours by the pool yesterday and I DID NOT BURN. Thank you, SPF 55! Lifesaver. I think I might have even gotten a little bit of color without burning. Pretty cool.

My face still has yesterday's makeup on it since I spent the night out last night and just got home a little bit ago, but my makeup still looks good. It's dry, but it's starting to remind me of my face after my first round of Accutane. I'm excited to have clear skin. That's honestly all I could ask for at age 23! Sayonara, acne!!

I'm super exhausted right now. I might take a nap, even though it looks like it's a beautiful day. Sleep sounds so good right now though.

So all three pimples from last week/earlier in the week are going away, almost gone! NO ACTIVES! I'm so happy with the way things are going right now.

My nose is still bleh, dry and bloody. Aquaphor kind of helps.

My skin is incredibly sensitive. Two days ago I itched the skin on my hand and it turned raw. Last night I was itching my wrist, and then I realized it hurt, and now I have a patch of raw skin. What the heck?! Also, I burnt my chest two weeks ago and it turned into a little scab that did go away, but it came back? Neosporin is going on all of this!

I missed yesterday's medicine because I went out to dinner and stayed over my cousin's house. No biggie though. I am going to go four days without meds later this month due to stupid iPledge and the whole blood test shananigans.

This is probably the most boring update from me, but that's okay! Bring it on, clear skin!

My skin goes raw really easily too. I posted somewhere else that I had gone out camping/fourwheeling and got about 35 mosquito bites...and itched them...and now my legs and arms are covered in scabs. It is super attractive!!!

Thanks Betsy! I have NO IDEA how my face just magically got better. The actives from last week went away SOOO fast! I'm shocked, really. I do have a really small guy on my jawline but I think that one is healing up. I'm happy, but who knows what will happen, I might get a new breakout. *crosses fingers that doesn't happen* I've come so far to go back to where I was!

I believe your day of clear skin is in the near future. I really do. We've both been through so much since starting this medication and we deserve to see results!

Today I slept late, and then I went to Hair Cuttery and got my hair trimmed. It looks awesome. I also bought RedKen shampoo & conditioner for 30 bucks. It's for dry hair, since the lady said my hair was a little dry. Now I am relaxing and I might head over to PA to hang out with a friend who wants to see me! Sorry to hear you haven't been sleeping good, do you think that's 'tane related? I hope you get a chance to catch up on sleep. I've been sleeping a lot during this time off from work I have. I feel like I can never get too much sleep.
