Day 78

I woke up at 5am this morning with excruciating cramp-like pains near my ovaries, except for the fact that I didn™t get my period and this was much different than the cramps I get during my cycle. I told my mom, and she said, œI hope you don™t have an ovarian cyst. So, now I™m kinda freaked out. The pain actually woke me up from a deep sleep, it was pretty intense. I™m hoping it wasn™t anything serious, but we™ll see about that¦ ermm.gif

I™ve also noticed that my joints are ridiculously creaky, I guess that™s the word to describe it. Every time I turn corners my ankles make a creaky noise. My knees have been cracking too. Not bothersome, just weird.

My lips are even more bothersome. I constantly apply Burt™s Bees or Clinique Superbalm in work. Then Aquaphor when I™m home. I don™t know what to do about the corners of my mouth. The skin is really dry there and yesterday I had little pieces of dead skin hanging out there. I try to exfoliate as best as I can, but every day it™s like there™s a new layer of dead skin waiting to be peeled off. Gross. Can I have my normal lips back?

Acne-wise “ No new actives! cheer.gif

The little bump from yesterday on my right cheek is in fact a zit. But, I don™t think it™s going to be a big one. It™s small in comparison to the other two buggers.

My jaw-line is still healing, and I feel like my face hasn™t looked this clear in months.

I see my derm tomorrow. I can™t believe I™m almost at month four!!

YAY FOR BEING CLEARR!!

Yikes on that pain.. you better get that checked out, I hope it's nothing serious!!

Hey Kaydon, I posted on Betsy's log this but, I have been taking the generic form of Yaz: Gianvi, for 2 weeks now. I absolutely hate it. I liked Yaz a ton, and my mom is getting it filled today. Would it be okay to start taking Yaz tonight, on day 15 of my cycle, or do I have to wait 2 weeks to finish this pack :(? I don't want to at all but bleh.

That's a good question...hmm. If you hate it that much, you could definitely switch. Just put the day that you start on the pill pack (those little sticker things that come with it) and throw the generic ones away?

But you might mess your cycle up if you do that, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

Well I'm dumb and just looked and I have 8 days left of the generic before my period, so I think I'm just going to get those 8 days over with. Bleh!

That's probably the best thing to do! 8 days isn't that long, you can do it! 🙂

Hi Katie! Maybe you were just ovulating, even though it sounds like it was more pain than that usually causes. I do notice that I'm more sensitive to pain on this med so maybe you were ovulating and it was just extra sensitive because of the accutane.

Are you taking fish oil? That might help with the creaky joints, ya know? Yay for no new actives, that's a great feeling!! 🙂

The pains might have been caused by Accutane since it can cause abdominal pains. Not sure if it's anything to worry about. The only reason I even know that is because when I was at my derm's today they asked if I had any abdominal pain.

My ankles have been creaking too! Weird. I hadn't thought much of it though.

Glad you don't have any new actives! It sounds like you're definitely on your way to clear skin! :)

Hey Stacey! That's what my mom said last night. I really hope it's nothing serious and that I was just ovulating.

I am not taking fish oil, however, we do have some at home. I'll start taking some to see if it helps.

I'm crossing my fingers I don't jinx myself...I'm sure I'm going to experience some new buggers soon just because I said how good I was doing, hahaha.

Oh wow, I didn't know that. I haven't had any pain since yesterday, so I'm not worried, but if it comes back I'm going to be.

It is weird! I'm like a creaky old woman! huh.png

Thanks, I'm really happy that month three is going well! I hope that things are going better in two weeks for my birthday. That would be so amazing!

Glad to hear you haven't had any pains since yesterday! I don't think it's anything to worry about right now. If it comes back and it doesn't go away, then I'd have it checked out! I'd think if Accutane was doing something, the pain wouldn't go away.

I think two weeks is plenty of time to clear up. You'll be looking great for your birthday! :D

Good luck at your derm appointment today!

Everything is still flattening each day, so maybe you're right! What an awesome birthday gift. Skin that is clear! surprised.gif

Thanks, I hope it goes well! I'm worried that my last blood-test came back bad for some reason. But I guess they would've called me if it did.

I hate waiting on my blood test results. How does it work for you? What I do is goto a Aurora healthcare by my house 3 days before my derm appointment and get my blood taken, and then when I'm at the derm (tomorrow) she tells me about my bloodwork then fills the script and I'm out the door haha :P.

I had a poopy nurse againnnn.. who kept jamming the needle into different veins trying to find "one" even though they were all poppin out at her! I would like to jam a needle in her arm and ask if that's okay.

Taylor's back by the way :) cheery cheery cheery!

Thank you! I didn't take my BC last night. I'm getting my script filled today once it's called in and just going to take that, I know my cycle will probably be extremely messed up but I don't care :P. I realized I only have 7 days left until my period, so do you think I should take 7 of my Yaz pills once I get it, and then take my placebo pills?

That's how it works for me too. Blood work three days before derm appointment. See my derm. Get my prescription!

And oucccchhhhh! It's their job to stick a needle in your arm. You'd think they'd have it down by now and wouldn't have to search for a vein. saywhat.gif I'd die if that happened to me. Someone would be getting punched in the face.

You could take your placebo pills starting today and then start your new month on sunday. Just treat this week like the last week of you BC pills. So I would take Thursdays placebo today and Friday's tomorrow and Saturday's on Saturday and then come Sunday I would start your new pack of Yaz. You want to make sure that your days are correct though so you don't get confused later in the month. Like you are taking wednesdays pill on sundays or something weird like that.

I'm doing better! No more pain. It's weird, but I'm glad. Maybe it wasn't anything serious. I hope ti doesn't come back...

Glad to hear you are doing better! Hopefully it was just a fluke. I am sure it was. Rachel mentioned that if the pain were from Accutane that it would have started and not gone away or gotten worse. She is right. My derm said that if the stomach pains or headaches are from the accutane the way you will be able to tell is if they get worse and don't go away. So that should make you feel alittle better anyways that it's not the tane doing it to you!

Day 79

Hey guys! Well, I had a busy day in work today so I couldn't post much to any logs.

UGH, feeling out of the loop now, haha. I was going through acne.org withdrawal. HAHAHA. Oh god.

SO. Today I had my derm appointment for the end of month three, going into month four. I have ten days medication left for this month. I talked to my derm and realized that I can't follow through with my blood test for this Saturday 'cause it hasn't been a full 30 days since my last one. DAMN IT. I completely forgot about that. So I scheduled it for next Saturday. I can only get my blood tests done on Saturday since I work full-time and Quest Diagnostics where I get it done only has hours WHEN I'M AT WORK. Meh. Bummer. Luckily, I will have enough medication to last me til I can re-fill next month's script.

I also scheduled July's blood test tonight. I made sure it was a full 30 days after this month's. So, that would be Saturday July 28th...and that means that I will have to go five stinkin' days without Accutane. I know it's fine to go a few days, but five seems like a lot. That makes me worry...but there's nothing I can do about it unless I take off, or go into work late just for a damn blood-test. I don't know.

I also figured out that if I want to do another month of Accutane, I'm going to really have to squeeze that shit in before the end of August when my insurance runs out because I'm quitting my job. I started mentally freaking out about this tonight, considering how close I am to being done. Hopefully 70 days is enough to clear me up. I can't help but be worried. If I need to, I'll do everything in my power to squeeze in an additional month. I really just want this to work out, I want five months to be enough for me and I want to be one of those people who proudly say that Accutane was some sort of miracle for them. Please, can I have that?

So - ACNE.

Bleh. It looks like some sort of papule is forming on my forehead. It's surfacing, and I have a bad feeling that this thing is going to become large. I'm bummed. My forehead was looking so damn good. sad.png

Everything else seems to be coming along; healing. My dermatologist was happy with the results.

I'm sure everything will be fine! Don't worry! smile.png

Everything was good! At least, my derm didn't tell me about anything, so I'm assuming it is! Haha. smile.png

I hate waiting on my blood test results. How does it work for you? What I do is goto a Aurora healthcare by my house 3 days before my derm appointment and get my blood taken, and then when I'm at the derm (tomorrow) she tells me about my bloodwork then fills the script and I'm out the door haha tongue.png.

I had a poopy nurse againnnn.. who kept jamming the needle into different veins trying to find "one" even though they were all poppin out at her! I would like to jam a needle in her arm and ask if that's okay.

Taylor's back by the way smile.png cheery cheery cheery!

I hate the whole process of getting Accutane each month. My blood-tests are usually right after my monthly derm appointment. Then they fax the results to my derm office, I call that Monday after the blood-work to make sure my derm does my iPledge, and THEENNNN I go get my script filled! Such a LOVELY process, hahaha. The things we all do for the 'tane. wink.png

Ahhh sorry to hear about your sucky nurse. I get so nervous before the blood-tests. Well, I used to. Now it's getting easier. But if they couldn't find my damn vein I'd be furious!

YAY for happy Taylor. smile.png

Don't worry, I think we've all had those days where we want to hide under a rock and not come out while on this medication. We're all strong for going through with this treatment!

Got my Yaz yay! Should I take it for 7 days then take my placebo pills? Since that's how many days left I had on my other one tongue.png? I get so confused with this shtuff.

I agree with Betsy. You can just skip to the Placebo pills and then go right to the Yaz. Or if you'd like you can just go right onto the Yaz - but you won't get your period.

Thank you!! I actually spoke with my derm who told me that it's normal to have pains as long as they don't happen often. I'm not worried anymore. I have had no pain since, thank god. smile.png

I totally have acne.org withdrawals too haha. So sad. Never thought I would be so connected to a acne board.

Good to hear you appointment went well. So lucky me after I got home from my derm appointment I got 3 new zits. Another damn one on my jaw so now I have one on both sides. One right between my fucking eyes and one on my chin. Excuse the f bomb. I figured it fits well in that sentence because god damn it another group of zits! I swear accutane is playing a cruel joke on me! So I went from having 2 actives at 10:00 am this morning to have 5 by 10:00 pm. The one I got on my jaw is a big one too. Awesome!

I'm glad that your derm said the stomach pain you had yesterday wasn't anything to worry about. I bet you feel relieved about that!

Hey everyone! Taylor is here :) I had a very unproductive (is that a word?) day! Yay! I woke up at 11, watched a chickflick, ate a huge breakfast, and then watched Supernatural and more movies when my boyfriend came over. He took me out to dinner since he knew I wasn't feeling too upbeat, it was sweet of him :)

Tomorrow is my derm at 930, and since it takes 45 mins to get there, I'll probably be up by 8 yay! Then I get to work 4-10pm, woohoooo! Haha.

Betsy and Kaydon - thank you for the advice! I'm going to take the placebo pills of the Yaz until sunday, and then sunday night start taking Yaz.. if I have that correct :P. Either way if my cycle gets messed up I won't be too upset about it.

I tried to take a bath tonight, baddd idea. My dry skin stung so bad while I was soakin in there, I had to get out after 10 minutes and rub moisturizer all over like crazy! This big honker seems to be surfacing... I think that's good cause that mean it's not a huge, giant cyst. I just want it to be a big ole whitehead that surfaces and goes away and leaves me alone! Overall, I had a good day, and can't wait to get Friday and Saturday (work both days) and get to Sunday, my day off <3.

Payday tomorrow and Taylor will be hitting up Bath & Body Works and Starbucks! I love Starbucks but I spend my money sparingly on it cause otherwise all my money would be gone.

Hey Everyone,

I just joined this website to keep a record of my accutane regimen which I will start in July!

Kaydon your treatment seems to going very well! I wish you the best of luck!

Also, I think the reason for your latest breakout may be because of the dose increase; think of it like another IB. It takes about 5 half-lives of the drug for it to reach a maintenance dose and have it's maximum effect as long as you keep up with the regimen and take the drug as you're supposed to. Accutane's half-life is about 21 hours so it seems like you got your breakout more than 5 days after your dose was upped, so that could be the reason why.

Good news is it'll go away soon! And breakouts will soon be a thing of the past!!!
