Hey guys, Derm. Appointment today. This will be the complete of my 4th month and start of my last month. I may suggest a 6th month, but I'm not sure. I'd say I'm 85% clear.... Is the FINAL MONTH really that magical? lol

Hey guys, quick update... I'm currently clear of any actives, but I still have some blackheads. However, they are still being pushed through and I occasionally get a inflamed/red pore. If I see the blackhead nearly at the surface i will extract it myself, and have had good results doing this gently.

My derm is planning on ending my course at 5 months. Honestly, I would feel better to do a 6th month. September 20th marks the end of my 5th month, so we'll see how my appointment goes next week.

Side effects are just another daily occurrence that I adapted to.

QUESTION: After a course of accutane, has anyone still suffered from blackheads that weren't pushed out? what did you do?

Hey, I think that a 6th month might be a good idea. I feel like you should be clear just about around now, so it might be beneficial, but hey what do I know. I can't really answer your question, but for me, I have only been on accutane for almost a month and all my blackheads are almost all gone. I am a little surprised it happened so fast.

well, he upped me to 100mg for my final month (5th)... I'm not so sure I like this bc i feel that I am going to break out from the increase and then my course will be over and I'll be stuck with new actives.... My derm. did not agree when i suggested a 6th month.... not too happy with the whole situation... 100mg seems kind of high; although, i really had no problems with 80mg...any thoughts guys? have many of you even been on 100mg for your final month?..... ...not happy

Ya, I mentioned that to him and he said the 100mg will push them out. To me it sounds like I'm going to have a hell of a breakout...

I honestly wouldn't worry too much. I think you'll do fine. I was on 120mg from month 3-5 on my last accutane course and was completely fine. And, I'm sure that you weigh more than me, so try not to worry.

I would say good to hear, but i know that means your acne is prob. worse than before. But the good news is you are going on accutane and will see results in a few months.

Did your derm. ok it? When are you getting your blood work done? What dose do you plan on starting?

Think about it, if I weigh 120lbs and they've got me on 80mg for 3 months, you'll be alright @ 100mg.

my derm okayed it. I am getting blood work tommorow.

I think a low dose, something like 20-40 mg.

My acne is actually not worse than before.. i just get sporadic breakouts that are now seeming to give me fucking shallow indentations.

Isn't it pathetic/sad how a tiny pimple or moderate pimple, that looks undangerous (is that even a word?), is giving me minor indents?

sucks i know.

STARTING 5th MONTH 100MG...Final Round of me VS 'Tane

I'll Start With Pics:

PIC #1 FRONT

PIC #2 SIDE

PIC #3 OTHER SIDE

So this is it guys, final dose increase, final month. Derm. decided to up me to 100mg of claravis for the final month, to hopefully knock this acne shit out for good. It'll put me at 139mg/kg of body weight, so I'm within the range for the min. chance of a relapse. HOWEVER, I'm still getting some actives as you can see in the pics. Not really full breakouts, but an active here and there. The rest are just red marks from previous acne crap. My next derm. appointment is in 3 months, and he said that we can figure something out for scars then. but he wants to focus on the accutane now and give my skin time to recover. Did I mention i start my senior year of college in ONE WEEK? + I'm having a special visitor Labor Day weekend ;)...so I'd like to feel good about myself!...The last thing I want is another breakout from the dose increase....ughhhhhh

RESULTS: I'm def. happy with my results as of now. Like i said, i still get a few pimples here and there as well as some black heads have yet to push themselves out.... If this last month of 100mg takes care of that then i'll be happy with the entire course!

SIDE EFFECTS: I'm a believer 100% that the longer you stay on a certain dose, your body gets used to it and the side effects subside. My proof, I have basically zero side effects (aside from drier skin & lips) after my first month on 80mg. MY second month on 80mg, I had no body pain, nosebleeds, or really any less common side effect. I do believe that one must be MENTALLY TOUGH to take this drug, because with it's negative stigma, you can "develop" any side effect you want, psychologically. I'm not saying this med. does not cause anything negative, but going into it with a positive outlook will def. help.

I hope to update here in about 5 days with some good news of no breakouts and no more actives!

Take care everyone!

-Matt

My proof, I have basically zero side effects (aside from drier skin & lips) after my first month on 80mg. MY second month on 80mg, I had no body pain, nosebleeds, or really any less common side effect. I do believe that one must be MENTALLY TOUGH to take this drug, because with it's negative stigma, you can "develop" any side effect you want, psychologically. I'm not saying this med. does not cause anything negative, but going into it with a positive outlook will def. help.

I hope to update here in about 5 days with some good news of no breakouts and no more actives!

Take care everyone!
