good luck.

To be honest bro, the thing that concerns/scars me the MOST about accutane is how it reduces the healing ability of your skin (i.e. your acne is more likely to scar).

Joint painn... crohns disease.... all that other nonsense, while a possibility, isn't something that i am overly worried about (obviously i do not want it).

also looking at your photos, do you get any pus filled lesions?

Couldn't agree more, but my acne was causing scars before 'tane.

Prior to my course, I competed in many powerlifting meets, but have decided to take some time off during my course. I have continued to train in the gym with little or no decline in strength, but the joint pain (esp. when waking up) is worse.

Chron's Disease/ UC are def. scary to think of having. Here shows a study, but to me the results sound inconclusive.

Pus filled lesions....same as a cyst? if so....yes, I did get them prior to 'Tane. Very painful and unpoppable.

scars as in indents?? Did you get any before going on tane? How long did you have acne before going on tane??

Pus filled lesions is not always the same as a cyst. Pus filled lesion is basically a typical pimple or pustule, it is moderate in size, and the head of tip of the bump has pus in it.

Yes, some indents and I got those probably from picking too much prior to tane. I had acne since I was a teen, probably started around age 15? I'll be 22 this week.

holy shit, we are identical in terms of acne. I have had it for 6 years, its a fucking pain in the ass.

I have been following this log and other logs, and i am seriously considering accutane. But the side effects (mainly more scarring) scare the shit out of me.

I saw your photos, and you do have some very tiny scars, but your overall skin and face structure is so good (no homo) that the scars are negligible. You kind of look like that one dood from transformers (The white soldier guy).

Anyways, i will be following your thread.

DAY 95

New pics!

PIC #1

PIC #2

PIC #3

Crazy to think it's been nearly 100 days and I have under 2 months left... I really hope these last 2 months of 80mg really knock this acne out for good. I'm very satisfied with the results, but like everyone else, I'd like to be as close to perfect as possible. Side effects are a daily thing now, it is going to be weird when they go after post-course. Ya i'm getting ahead of myself... anyway the dry lips are the worst side effect i think bc they are consistent... back pain isn't an everyday thing but still annoying.

Nearly August and I feel like I haven't done anything all summer, but I may have some big plans for August. I have kinda stayed away from pools, amusement parks, etc to avoid the sun... If my acne is gone for good, I will have no complaints for giving up one summer!!

Have a good week guys!

hey, im on day 8 currently, also doing 40mg/day. the itchy scalp kicked in today, as well as my ears getting extremely hot for no reason as you mentioned earlier i think. acne hasn't really changed since the beginning, im guessing its going to be IB in the next week or so? haha, only time can tell. well regardless, i'll probably continue to follow this blog, keep us posted!

The ears flushing is so strange.... I try to blame it on dehydration, so I chug some water when I feel them getting hot. If you are going to have an IB I think it'll be within the first 2 weeks. However, I broke out some bit each dose increase and hardly when starting the drug.

Once I started Tane, I really haven't had any cysts form to be honest. Prior to... oh gosh, it was anywhere from a week to a few. Whenever i thought I saw them come to a head i would pop it... probably wasn't the best idea!

Looking good!

Thanks!

Hey guys, quick update... I'm currently clear of any actives, but I still have some blackheads. However, they are still being pushed through and I occasionally get a inflamed/red pore. If I see the blackhead nearly at the surface i will extract it myself, and have had good results doing this gently.

My derm is planning on ending my course at 5 months. Honestly, I would feel better to do a 6th month. September 20th marks the end of my 5th month, so we'll see how my appointment goes next week.

Side effects are just another daily occurrence that I adapted to.

QUESTION: After a course of accutane, has anyone still suffered from blackheads that weren't pushed out? what did you do?
