Its like theres a little fairy version of late 80s Mike Tyson giving me a one two combo whenever i turn my neck

LOL

Have you ever gotten checked for food allergies, candida, or zinc deficiency?

The accutane will mos def clear you up, but getting checked for these may speed it up... after all, candida is often caused by taking too many antibiotics, and I read you took a lot of antibiotics before accutane.

Im on doxycycline now, but i just started taking zinc tea tree (topically), and coconut oil (for candida which I still don't know if I have) and my acne is improving.

I'm going to make a post where to get cheap suppliments and crap like that online (just dont want to tell you here of the mods will think im spamming :snooty: )

Wow! Thanks for the excellent book recs and synopsis. I've read 4 or 5 Stephen King books - I think my favorite vampire book of all time was Salem's Lot. The movie didn't do justice to the book as it always the case in my opinion. Man, that guy is a prolific writer isn't he? What an imagination.

Do you believe I was searching my book collection (7 bookcases full and books stored and piled EVERYWHERE) and I found the book my Marianne Williamson - I must have bought it awhile ago, then moved and forgot about it. I've read about 50 or so pages so far and it is a beautiful, enlightening and comforting book. I'm loving it so far.

I've never read anything by Douglas Adams but I will pick up a copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Gallaxy. I'm in the mood for something funny and zany as I have been reading too many history books lately and I need a break for some humor.

The Phillip Pullman series must be good if you so highly recommend it. Like I said, the next time I place a book order (gotta love Amazon's used book dealers and half.com) I'll pick them up as they sound very interesting.

Now I have a book for you - I just read A Long Way Gone by Ismeal Beal and it is an excellent and inspiring read. He lived this nice and peaceful life in Sierra Leone until the bloody civil war. His entire family was killed, he was captured by the Rebel troops at age 14, brainwashed and taught to be a child soldier. Now this book is intense and is often brutal but it also tells how he was rehabilitated. I won't tell you the ending, but if this kid could get through what he went through, we can be strong and persevere!

Back to skin, Cetaphil always breaks me out both the cleanser and the moisturizer. I hate that stuff. I've been using a cleanser by DDF but it is pricey - Ellen Lange also makes a good cleanser but I'm afraid that one is expensive too. A lot of people seem to like Alpha Hydroxy have you tried that one? Also, if you are drying up from the Accutane - I used to use Oil of Olay with Aloe for sensitive skin which was pretty good. The last two can be bought at your local drugstore and are much more affordable.

Aloe is good - I use mine straight from the plant but the gel is nice too. And ice, ice, ice! I think it is one of the best anti-inflammatories around. Try icing your whole face before you go to bed, dry it and then applying your topicals.

Have a good weekend and hope your team wins!

Alright just woke up and i'm gettin hyped. Nothing really doing with my acne, only that i have alot of annoying stuff right on the edges of my jawbone that makes sleeping on the side of my face .... frustrating. And that big deepy has gotten bigger but less deep becoming more flat which is in the end less painful.

Also i cant believe i forgot to mention the book The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien (outstanding war book)

I bid you good day now i have to go start gathering the ingredients for my Special Homemade Texas Victory Queso. Root for you team today, if your team is Texas root harder. Boomer sooner is headed for 0-2 in conference :)

Congrats Brandy although i wasn't too impressed with that early cheap shot, and the mysterious disappearance of the last 4 seconds of the game. Oh well :doubt: I'm going to go try and counteract my grief by dropping $300 on a Wii and Super Mario Strikers.

So i was lucky enough to be woken up by the ridiculously loud fire alarm today. Do they really need to make it so loud honestly, anyways turns out the building wasnt on fire (go figure) and I just stayed in my room with my pillows over my ears.

Turns out there is no Wiis in all of the greater San Antonio Area, or anywhere for that fact, so i will have to wait to slake my thirst for non frugal spending.

Today i have to start on my Research Paper that I've been pushing off for the last 4 weeks ... its due on tuesday, but dont worry because i found out in highschool that the only good writing I ever did was when i was under pressure.

Hope everyone is having a good day

Good morning my fellows welcome to another wonderful week. I must say this aloe is doing a mighty fine job at working on the red marks. My face is slowly looking better except for the big stuff down in the beard and this one stubborn streak from the corner of my mouth connecting to the big stuff. It looks like the cut the bad guy got from Pans Labyrinth when it was sewed back up. The big stuff however is still causing me grief when i try to sleep. I ran out of green tea extract last night which i had been using as a anti inflammitory and I found a rather large stockpile of Fish Oil (Omega 3) that i had but stopped using for some reason. So i'm going to start taking that instead.

I've got horrible amount left to do on that research paper tonight so i wouldn't expect any responses from me until tomorrow.

Good luck and Godspeed with your day.

Taking a break from the write-a-thon that will probably continue on through the night. I've reached the minimum but i havent even done a forth of my ideas. The teacher asked for an 8 pg paper, but what she is going to get is going to be closer to a 20 pg dissertation on why I kick ass at writing at the last minute.

I was a little saddened by the second straight day of no comments. I didn't used to care, but i was so spoiled with compliments, and conversations that i became addicted to them. You've created a monster! JK JK

Anyways I was parusing accutane logs, and the severe acne forum, and I kept running across people who were claiming super severe acne, and yet their pictures seemed so mild to me. I wanted to make a post and show them see it could be worse, but i wasn't sure if that would make me seem like an ass trying to "upstage" their misery.

My stuff is still looking promising although i doubt this all nighter is going to be conducive to a clearing face.

I'm just now begining to feel the wrath of the dirty man challenge as my bangs get longer and longer they get more and more annoying. Its gotten to the extent that I wear a beanie when im in my room just to keep it out of my face. My beard hasnt been growing much, and has definitely been thinning as I lose more and more everytime i was my face. It kinda sucks because when it was thick it hid almost all of my jawline cysts and now they are becoming more and more visible everyday.

Ugh i dont want to go back to work i think ill play online scrabble for a while and then get back on it in an hour. Since its a new day i'll give yall a new quote (pretty soon my personal bank is going to run dry and i'm going to have to go find some new ones)

I will welcome happiness as it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul. I will acknowledge rewards for they are my due; yet I will welcome obstacles for they are my challenge.

Sorry you hadn't received any replies. I've been something of a lurker in your log, as I enjoy your writing style very much! So, I'll take this moment to say hello.

I never could do those all-nighters in college. I hate writing under pressure, even now as a professional researcher. I enjoy writing, but only if I am able to review it 20 times before I finish it.

What topic is your paper on?

Its a cause and effect research paper on the idea That there are too many people going to college. Its only 8 pgs double spaced and i could churn that out in like an hour, but it got to be completely unbiased, and completely in third person. I'm a narrative writer I can't write third person for long periods it just makes me feel ..... dirty. Also I like to takes sides I HATE being lukewarm on issues, but this is non argumentive. Basically its a boring paper thats supposed to introduce us freshman to the library. She did let the intro have a narrative intro so i kind of released some frustration by giving her a 3 page intro. I'll get points off for it for sure, but i'm not going to have any trouble getting an A in that class anyways. This is the only core class i havent tested out of and next semester im going to freaking rock the creative writing professors socks, and then jet to UT where i can get hardcore into screen writing.

Don't worry about not commenting I was just frustrated bc i've been having alot of acne related sleeping problems, and i finished my paper around 3ish so i had 4 hours to kill until the dining hall open and i could get coffee.

Also i was wondering if yall think that judging from my pictures that i should be recieving more than 20 mg because IMO like some people are getting like 80 mg for stuff thats not even close to my severity. I'm 160 lbs 6 ft. My doc held off from bumping me to 30 this month because he didnt like how severe my IB was, but I still feel thats on the low side. I bet my mother has something to do with it. Ohh and my liver just told me if I go to 80 mg he wont ever talk to me again

I'm going to go to Archaeology for the first time in weeks because im up so early and apparently i have a midterm on thursday. That the only class where i havent ruined a test curve in so the people mostly like me or pity me because of my acne. I'll likely play a couple rounds of pocket tanks because the professor is old boring and reads straight out of the book so i'm actually ahead of the class.

As for your concern with your Accutane dosage being too low, hopefully your derm will continue to raise it. But the low dosage very well may be because of your IB. After a few months, do ask your derm about raising the dosage.

Yeah, 20 mgs. is a very low dose for your height, weight and acne severity. If your IB was really bad, I don't understand why your derm didn't prescribe a short course of prednisone. Now that will deflate the cysts. A really good derm would know this and it can be taken at the beginning of the accutane course to lessen the IB. Also many will prescribe an antibiotic short term (none of the cyclines though). Do you have any other health issues? Often derms start the first couple of months at a low dosage to see how your body reacts to the Accutane but if it responds well, will up the dose each month.

It will take you a longer time to reach your cumulative dosage if he keeps you on a low dosage. If your skin is still bad the next time you see your derm, consider asking him/her about the prednisone or antibiotic (short term) to give you some relief and what he has in mind about increasing the dose and how long he plans to keep you on the accutane.

Is it possible that prednisone is a steroid? Because he did perscribe me a steroid, but instructed me to only take it if I felt that the breakout was too hard to deal with. However i would have to stop taking the accutane for a week. I was very emotionally prepared for the worst, so i took what came, and worked through it. In fact i didn't think that it was even that bad, but when i went to my 1 month derm appointment he seem horrified at my "redness" (it kind of miffed me that he couldnt say acne, pimple, or cyst, but his first name in Zoltan so i forgive him on principle) He asked me why i didn't take the steroid and I told him i didn't feel like it wass necessary so he said he wanted another round of twenty because of my "Redness". Really i didn't have these annoying jawline cysts in the first month, that have effectively replaced what once occupied my cheeks. I'm still against stopping the tane because i think that the jawliners are slowly but surely making an exit.

Oh i forgot to mention that this morning after i took my shower i had the craziest loss of balance. It felt like the whole room was tilted to one side and i kept stumbling in that direction. It went away after a couple minutes, but I couldn't help but laugh because it was like a comedy sketch with me trying to brush my teeth and stuff while falling over.

My paper went over well enough, my uber long intro made my teacher chuckle enough that she went easy on it.

Lol the way i write papers is i write what i want to write in the format they are wanting and i dont try and be professional. The one thing that makes a paper great and memorable it that it has have voice. Your personality and emotion has to ooze out between letters because people will feel it and be touched by it. I had a quote up a couple weeks ago that said,"People will forget what you did. People will forget what you said, but people will never forget how you made them feel." and its true that if you can make them feel just in the tiniest degree then your paper will have an impact. And teachers LOVE it. The paper i just wrote was supposed to be a cold formal research paper with no opinions, no heart, just words on paper, and if its just words on paper then whats the point. I wrote it with love, with passion, with my very essence so that the words could transcend the paper and become ideas. That caused my teacher to "overlook" my informality my opinions, and accept it for what it was. Thats my advice for anyone who wished to write more than just words for anything that they do

Oh and on a side note MY FACE IS GETTING BETTER BY THE DAY ... BOOYAH!

lol i slept through Geology though :( which is sad b/c i really enjoy that class, but its large enough that they dont take roll and i guaruntee i wasnt missed. Except maybe from the guy to my left who always cheats off me during tests. But today wasnt a test day so he should be fine. Adios mis amigos. Yo tengo sacar un examen para Precal (Farewell my friends. I have to take an exam for Precal ... at least i hope i havent taken Spanish in years tell me how i did spanish speakers)

Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.

PS i have decided that i will be debuting my writing works here for critical review for now on, because the place that i was doing it before apparently claims rights on anything that is posted there. So after this week i should get back to writing and I'll have some stuff up soon in another forum. I'll link it in my sig though okie. Actually ill go do it now and put some old poems i wrote as a 9th grader up. Laters.

Yep, Prednisone is a steroid which is an anti-inflammatory and acts like hydrocortrisone in your body. It comes in dosages of 2.5 mg to 60 mg and is used for many other diseases such as arthritis.

It is good to hear your skin is doing better each day, so you don't even need the steroid. Accutane was made for skin like yours and I'm gonna bet you see a very good outcome after your course.

When you get a chance will you post some pics so we can see how you're doing?

If your Doc ever want's to inject a cyst with a shot you should think twice about it because it may cause permanent indentations in your skin. Just a warning because it happened to me.

Hey Ranger!

Have you read Dan Simmons? I greatly recommend his Hyperion Series. I found I like his work even better than Orson Scott Card's Ender Series. Of course I have many of OS Card's works. And many of Heinlein's and Bradbury, and Niven. I even have some older edition paperbacks from the likes of Niven and Pournelle and Aldiss and Farmer and Piers Anthony and some incredibly interesting stuff from the dawn of SF's first wave. Oh yes, and Asimov. And of course, Douglas Adams. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had me snorting and laughing until I cried in highschool (all those many years ago).

You have exceptional taste in reading. Kudos to you! :D

Prednisone is a steroid; it shouldn't be taken too long (more than a week, or however the doc prescribes it). For most users of Accutane, they do not have to stop Accutane while on a short-term course of a steroid. Perhaps he recommended you stop the Accutane, if you were to take the steroid, due to your lab values?

At this point, you should consider a higher dose if your derm concurs. I was on 80mg a day when I weighed 120 pounds. You're on month two, I think. Do not despair, the improvements come slowly and gradually, but for your type of acne they are almost guaranteed to come.

Does your derm have an esthetician on staff? If not, you could ask your derm to consider incising and draining some of your more painful cysts if necessary. Ask if he thinks you need a short term course of antibiotics to combat your initial breakout. I am very glad that your skin is looking better. It was evident in comparing your first set of pictures to your second set that you are having considerable improvement!

Please do moisturize regularly, and make sure you're using a sensitive skin cleanser so as to protect your poor ravaged skin. Remember also to wash with warm water. A final rinse with cold water will help tone down the redness, too.

You are simply a wonderful young man. Keep up your magnificent chronicles and do try to keep up your spirits.

I'm a technical writer, never could I do creative writing. ;) Your skills are impressive.

Come on without Come on within you aint seen nothing like the mighty Wynne. It's a honor.

I will have to add that to my exponentially expanding to-read list lol. I have read Asimov's Foundation series, and a little but not enough Bradbury. Also I have to throw Phillip K Dick in there. Would you count Jules Verne as SF?

Anyways he didn't tell me why i would have to stop taking accutane if i wanted to take the steroid, but if it had been because of my blood work i would have thought that it would have been brought up (sigh Oh Zoltan you mysterious fig)

I do moisturize with Cetaphil after my shower in the morning, and sometimes in the middle of the day if I deem it necessary. At night I've been lately slathering on Aloe gel, and I've been really impressed with the results as it calms my skin so i can sleep easier, and has had a noticeable impact on redness. As for washing I only use water and no cleansers, or OTC products, I've found that they never seem to agree with me. I dont really wash with water either I kinda soak. I fill up the sink with cold water and do bobbing for apples imitation a couple times patting dry in between. When i washed in the traditional way i would always end up wither accidently catching a scab or I would be driven to pick bc of the feeling of my skin under my hands. I dont know if the soaking method works but I've seen favorable results over the last week and a half. I usually take piping hot showers but i rinse with cold water for some odd reason.

I'm glad you see a difference in my pictures, the real difference is how it feels which is much better as everything is becoming less deep seated, but i am disappointed that my beard is being decimated by the jawline cysts that it was meant to cover up. Hopefully those bad boys will make an exit soon so i'll have time to regrow my beard for my annual christmas party (I had planned to have it big and bushy and dye it white for a dedicated St. Nick impression lol)

I have 2 midterms today, but no classes tomorrow so i imagine tomorrow should be a day of many posts for muah.

A gentle antibacterial cleanser might help you with your jawline and beard problem areas. I do highly recommend the Cetaphil soap that's in my signature. It's also mildly moisturizing and oh so gentle.

If you do decide to use it, just splash your face with water (when you're doing the wash that's not in the shower, unless of course you shower twice a day), get some soap on your fingers, gently massage the soap into your skin, splash to rinse (multiple times) and you might begin to feel even better. A gentle touch of a cleanser can make a difference in getting rid of the dried skin cells and the oil that should come off but won't with a soak.

Well bullocks i wish i had read that before i went to the grocery store today. Oh well i have to go back anyways because one of my bags fell through the moment i stepped nto my room and my milk carton Hiroshima-ed on the floor leaving a lake of wasted 2%. Dang you sacker lady who thought 1 paper bag would hold up with cold items on a hot day. Its not like condensation or anything forms ..... Ugh i'm just pissed bc now i cant have Capt. Crunch tomorrow morning.

I've been falling asleep randomly in the middle of the day and i always wake up and my face feels like its covered in dry glue when i wake up. Its an awful feeling and there is nothing really there so im not sure whats causing it.

Whats nice is I have tomorrow off and thats going to be nice. And its only 19 days till basketball season starts!!! I love basketball above all sports I even gave up a promising career on the Central Texas Olympic Development Soccer team for a four year pine riding career on my highschool basketball team. The problem is that i'm in enemy territory here for the NBA being a lifelong Mavs fan. My friends and family are afraid that i'm going to meet bodily harm due to my outspoken Allegence here in Spur Land. Also college basketball which is the lord of all basketball will not be far behind. Its always an exciting time of the year people.
