appleworm said:alright, here's an update. I'm not posting a picture because it looks just like the last picture if not, a little worse. I took about a week break since the last picture, and did the bath soak everyday this week with around 20oz of salt in the bath. I stayed in the hot water for around 25 minutes. I'm not sure if it's not enough salt or the water isn't hot enough, but it's not really working for me.
One theory I have is that I think having some sun directly on the back is actually a benefit to the skin...I'll have to test that theory when summer comes around. So far, I've spent around 50 bucks on a lot of salt. I'm going to try around 36oz of salt this week and if I don't see any improvements, I'm done with the salt thing.

Put in more than 1/2 cup but a little below one full cup. You really got to get alot in there. Trust me, this system works. Also, wash before your body before you get in the shower. Then, what I do is I don't even dry my back with the towel. I let the salty water stay on my skin, b/c then, the salt will sink in my pores.
I can't get over what a difference this had made in just 2 days! It's insane. I bought alessi sea salt for 4 bucks in wegamans. Here's the link to buy it from alessi- [Edited link out]
I bought some Dead Sea salts from the health food store today and used a little on my face in the shower. It burnt like hell!! I used about a teaspoon in the palm of my hand and then pumped some of my face wash into my palm and mixed them together. I started to wash my face with it but it burnt so bad that I had to quickly rinse it off. So then I used about 1/4 of the original amount and my cleanser and it felt tolerable. I REALLY like the way my face felt afterwards (very soft) and after I got out of the shower, my face was soft and not shiney like it usually is.
Here is my plan that I thought up: I have a water bottle with a spray on it that I have been using to spray my cats when they jump on the counter and I'm going to put a little of the salt in there (after washing it out well, duh) and add hot water to it after I get in the shower. Then I'm going to spray it on my face, neck, back, and chest and let it sit there while I shampoo my hair. I figured why should I waste so much salt in the tub if only certain parts of my body have acne? I hope it works.
By the way, here is the salt I bought for $2.35 for 4 ounces (which should last a week or 2, I hope):

I did the spray bottle thing tonight in the shower and I liked it. Just put a couple of teaspoons of salt in the bottle and filled it up with hot water, about 16 ounces. Shampoo'ed and washed with my body wash and then sprayed it on my back, chest and face for about 5 minutes. I have to stress to anyone doing this that you have to dilute it so it won't burn your skin. If you spray it and it burns, add more water until it doesn't burn (duh lol).
Has this helped with raised scars (soft red bumps that take FOREVER to go away), Keratosis Pilaris (sp?) (the red dots on the backside of the arms) or pimples that lurk under the surface for a long time? Thanks!
Yes, the biggest difference it has made would be the reduced redness. It will probably take a while, but I don't doubt that this will work for scars. Put alot of salt in, make sure the is really hot, and don't towl your back off, let that salty water stay on your skin for the day. I can't believe how great this has been. Thanx alot Ratherbesurfer guy!
Yo how much salt should be used ????????????
I m in UK so i m thinking when u saying 30 ounces thats like 840grams????????
how many grams or better still is 3/4 a mug measurement ok????
I use 4 generous filled teaspoons of dead sea salt in my tub with hot water, becasue of the hot water, the pores of your skin will open so the salt can the his job
at the moment i'm experimenting wether or not rinsing of with water after the tub...
i saw the first improvements already after two sessions when i started!!
i'm looking forward to the summer holiday so the sun can harmonize my skin tone

Pores are not a working mechanism, they do not open or close. Glad to hear that the sea-salt is working though.

I ve had 3 baths using jus ova half a cup of sea salt and had decent results, i m just left with red marks, will the sea salt get rid of them as well with time or is there something else worth using????
well, i havent posted in months after trying this because i havent been soaking. mainly because its real boring and i feel im wasting water. so what i started doing and have been doing is i got my empty little spray bottle of sa, washed it out and added 1/4 salt the rest water and been spraying in the morning and after my showers. when it dries up you feel like you put sandpaper all over yourself and i just wipe it off cuz it feels kinda weird. but yeah, its been working, i'd say that for the passed i dont know 2.5 months or so theres been about 40% fading with very very minor breakouts. like a zit here and there that goes away quick. unlike the huge cysts. sadly i did this only for my back and my chest broke out because i used bp on that side to see which worked best. so now its just my sea salt spray i use like how u use the vinegar and just spray away and sit infront of a fan until i dry up. 40% is extremely good and from a distance i dont think you could notice it as bad as before. btw ive had severe acne and body acne forever. i was hoping to go shirtless for the first time this summer but i dont think thats gonna be the case, so im aiming for winter because although its a slow process it seem to be heading uphill. as for the keloids that i have, 2 on my chest and 1 on my back, theyre still there. might have better results if i stuck with soaking, but ehh oh well. thought i might share.
Another good thing to do is grind up the salt by mashing some up, in a plastic bag, with a hammer. Then, rub in on your skin and leave it there for the night. I know this might sound like overkill, but for those us who have extremely reasy skin, it helps keep it dry and tight. The name of the game is too just keep the area clean of grease and oils, and your pores won't break out. Who would have ever known stupid sea salt, could work as good, if not better, than a prescription topical!
hey everyone...i've been using the sea salt baths along with washing my body with biore ice cleanser (i think the exmodel guy mentioned it a while back on this post) and it's working great!! that biore stuff is really good for making your skin tight...i went from having a back full to just a couple here and there and i can see them going away already!!

Ok so are you just saying that you have gt a spray bottle add 1/4 salt to it and rest water, spray it onto back and wait till it dries before rubbing it off???
I may try this as like you said a bath can be a long process
For the past three months, I've used BP and AHA lotion on my back, chest, and upper arms daily for moderate acne. I noticed a little difference, but I think it was more that I was washing and moisturizing so much, because while I healed quicker I still got the same amount of new acne. Yasmin birth control hasn't made much of a different either, and I gave up on antibiotics because they didn't seem effective, reduced effectiveness of the birth control, and I didn't want to be putting all this crap in/on my body if the result would be so minimal for my skin.
This is my current back regimen:
Two weeks ago I started taking salt baths, and I've taken five as of now. I also tried the spray bottle method... after a hot shower, towel off gently then spray hot salt water over the affected area. I wait until it dries before getting dressed, then wash it off a few hours later... this is if I don't have time to sit in the bath.
I also use a boar bristle brush to exfoliate in the shower. As soon as I get in the shower I apply Neutrogena's salicylic acid body wash and scrub with the brush-- this way my skin hasn't had time to soften in the hot water yet, and I'm not brushing off necessary healing tissue and scabs. I do this every one or two days.
I still use the BP and AHA lotion, but not every day. When I don't, I apply a vitamin E moisturizing lotion (huge economy bottle for a few bucks) or I just apply the AHA. Moisturizing is a must!
The result:
I am now 99% acne free, and am slowly getting rid of some of thise old scars and healing spots. I would definitely recommend sea salt baths to anyone with back acne.
I found a great deal on ebay for dead sea salt here [Edited link out], though there are many other ebay vendors who also sell it. I only spent $17 for a 20 pound bag, and shipping was free.
i did the salt thingy for the first time tonight but i was only in for about 15 minutes, my skin feels quite alright after the first time...BUT i did feel really dehydrated.
i'm not feeling doing this every night for 30 minutes. i might like, die. haha
has this happened to anyone else?

Ok, well I've been reading this topic for a while and I'm getting very excited about the possiblity of finally getting rid of my back acne. I just need to get a few things cleared up. For one, how much sea salt do I need to use. Because I tried this today with one cup of sea salt and I didnt see any improvements where other people have posted immediate results. It also seems like I've read about some people only using like 4 tablespoons and other people using like 70 ounces.
Also, I started running the water and then I poured in the sea salt when the tub was about half full. I noticed that the course sea salt I used was just collecting at the bottom.
Is there anything else I have to do besides just sit in the tub for like a half hour?
I really hope this works, and I don't want it to be another method I've tried where I got my hopes up and then when I tried it for a while it didnt do anything.
Congratulations to anybody who this has worked for

I actually notice that I get really thirsty after I do this but I wouldn't get discouraged by it. I drink roughly 64-128oz of water a day so I don't think I'm going to die haha.

I use two cups (16oz) and I wouldn't expect immediate results because like RatherBeSurfing said it took time. I poor mine in as soon as a start the water and then when I get in I'll swish my feet around and over the salt left on the bottom and it is gone. RatherBeSurfing also recommended you exfoliate when you're in the tub I think, I would just be careful around the larger pimples that can be irritated because that can be a bizzzznatch. good luck brotha. I have been doing it every night for the last week and a half for 20-30 minutes (sometimes it gets reallllly hot so I will wuss out) and I have noticed a reduction in breakouts but I expect the scars to take longer to go away.
