I read in this topic that the sea salt bath helps with body scarring as well. With what type of scarring exactly? I have lots of raised, small, white scars that are soft to the touch. Also I have some hard, brownish spots, that feel almost as if there is a small piece of rock under my skin. Thanks!

over-the-counter "sea salt" just contains sodium. Marine aquarium salt contains the sodium plus more of those other ingredients, although not all. So I guess marine aquarium salt is inbetween natural ocean water, and "sea salt". And if both the ocean and "sea salt" work for acne, then wouldn't marine salt work, too?

Refined table salt is simply NaCl, 99.8 percent sodium chloride. If you get the unrefined, grayish salt crystal sea salt used for cooking, you're getting a lot more minerals, trace amounts of course. But if you take one crystal and put it in your mouth, it tastes just like the ocean... Anyways I get bottles of this shit at Trader Joes for 3 dollars a big bottle, I use sea salt for cooking because it has a better flavor and it's healthier then table salt. But I'm about to try using it in my cleanser, just dump some in there and hope enough dissolves to make a difference.

I think that you can put some sea salt on your body wet, wait 10 minutes or so and wash it off.

I got mine at Walmart. At my local Walmart it was at the bottom right of the acne care area (pharmacy). Here in Canada it costs about $3.97 a bag.

Bumpity bump bump bump. Sea salt has turned my thick, creamy coconut milk cleanser into pure water, so I know it's dissolved. Every time I wash my face, I taste the ocean now. As for whether it's doing anything, it's too early to tell. All I do is wash my face as usual but keep the cleanser on for 30 seconds to a minute, instead of rinsing it right off...

By the way this is not any type of anti-acne cleanser, just a regular, gentle, organic one. So results would not be due to SA or BP or AHA or any of that.

I had created a post but no one has responded yet. I guess I can put it here which I should have done in the first place. My question was I went to salt section to get Sea Salt. They had two kinds: One was course Sea Salt and one was without the Iodine. They were by the same company. I did not get it, because I did not know which one to get. The problem is on the web it says that Iodine aggravates your acne. I think they were talking about ingesting it, but what about putting it on your skin. If you all don't mind, could you tell me if you have Iodine in your Sea Salt.

What you want is unrefined, grey sea salt. This is the closest you can get to ocean water. You want no additives, either. Iodine overdose can create an acne like rash internally, but externally it's a disinfectant and can only help your skin.

 @ smell like the ocean. No, you leave it on your skin for a few minutes (30 minutes I think was suggested). Then, you wash it off. I think it was suggested that a loofah be used as well to exfoliate.

How are you planning on using the sea salt? What I plan to do is try the Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with Sea Salt. Keep in mind this is what I plan to do meaning I haven't started yet. As for combinations with other medicines, I haven't tried it yet, so I can't answer that.

Thank you rubber sheep. I feel weird calling you rubber sheep. I had the one with the Iodine in my hand but put it back. I should have trusted my instincts. But, I'm glad I got the information first. Yeah, my mother was telling me that people once used Iodine for cuts and abrasions and then it slowly dawned on me that maybe it's okay externally, but not internally. I plan to create the spray bottle mixture, that is Apple Cider Vinegar and Sea Salt. The sea salt is 8 oz. I don't need the sixteen oz. and these extremely large bags. I need to try to see if it works first, so if I need more than I'll just buy and create more. I'm using the leftover to create me a steam facial in a boiling pot and I will use just vinegar and water without the sea salt.

Keep in mind vinegar = acidic, and sea salt = acidic... both are used to preserve foods like olives. Anyways, the combo of the two could create something overly strong. Straight vinegar alone, sprayed in someone's face would be enough to get an enemy out of your face if you got it right up in their nose / eyes... whew.

I just added sea salt to my cleanser and it took a few days to dissolve, but already my face slightly stings and I taste salt everytime I wash.

Thanks for the information. I'm glad you told me and I knew that vinegar was acidic but didn't didn't really realize what the mixture of the Sea Salt would do. I think I'm going to stick with put it on my back and maybe use the mixture of just vinegar and water for my face. I will make sure it's mixed up well so it won't burn my face. But, I gotta do something, I'm sick of wearing makeup to cover my spots and people pointing out something I DON'T want to be reminded of. "What wrong with your face?" I so desperately want to blurt "Well, obviously I'm having acne problems. DUH! Don't point out something I can already see!" 🙄 But, I restrain myself. Anyway, my face is healing so well with the H&S. So every other day on my back I will alternate between the vinegar and water and the vinegar and sea salt.

What cleanser did you add the sea salt to? Your vinegar and water mixture or something else?

Alba Organics Coconut Milk cleanser. It used to be a cream, now it's watery thanks to the salt. A persitent cyst that wouldn't go away that I had healed up and disappeared... but maybe that would happen without the sea salt as it is. Cuz I'm breaking out with more nodules due to slip ups in diet.

This sounds very interesting and I would like to start it real soon. The trouble is I am currently about a month in to taking Roaccutane, so obviously my skin is pretty dry at the moment. Should I wait till i'm done or would it be safe to try this now? Thanks in advance!

hmmm the first time I went to the beach was on 16th of this month

what I did the firsdt 4 days was just pour the water all over my body and let it dry , since I dont have a bathtub...then I came up with the idea of making the water warm or bit hot and put it in a bucket and I put my arm there for 30 mins.... then I do that at like 3 pm and leave it all afternoon till I bath with a normal soap at night ( 11 pm) and while I bath I scrub my arms

my arms <re less red and less bumpy and less everyhing

and I've done this for what? a week

oh and the water is sea water :)

I hope to continue improving

Good job. Thanks for telling your regimine. My H&S is working for me. I just get so angry when I think that I've gone to Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and all these other stores. I stay in the shampoo aisle and I could have bought this a long time ago and saved myself a lot of grief. Argghhh! :wall:

I have the Sea Salt and the Vinegar, but the sea salt was way too course and I just messed it up and now nothing won't come out of the spray bottle. The sea salt is at the bottom of the mixture. So I just open the bottle and pour it onto cotton to put it on my back.

They are selling Dead sea salt on ebay, because I can't find any stores that sell it nearby here so far. Is this the same as regular sea salt?
