I was happy to see this thread because I have been considering soaking in a bath with sea salt.
I do get acne on my back, but I think the humid weather had worsened the case, and there were pimples on my legs and arms too. Another thing is that I went waxing, and I think there is a bit of a reaction on my arms especially - redness, lots of bumps (which now look like whiteheads), and some itching and soreness.
I did not browse the entire thread yet, but do you think sea salt could help in this case, or make it worse?
I feel disappointed because I really hoped to be able to wear something sleeveless or a skirt if I would have liked, but the way it is right now bothers me.
Thank you for posting that KotBegemot. I will look into this further.
Why would you not recommend epsom salt?
Edit: Just doing some research and will post what I find but here is a little something for now:
QuoteHow is sea salt different than epsom salt?Epsom salt is rich in magnesium, but lacks calcium. While magnesium is necessary to maintain the health of both the cardiovascular system and muscle tissue, the effects are more beneficial when combined with calcium.

OK, I did the sea salt bath 2 days back, didn't notice any improvements. My back is a mess, too much acne. I stayed in the water for 35 minutes (very boring process). I used Mortons Coarse Sea Salt. I put in 36 ounces.
Im going to do it again right now and will put an extra 17 ounce, that will make it 51 ounces of sea salt in my tub. Im trying to make it more concentrated.
Wish me luck...but I doubt any drastic improvements will take place.
Hmm sea salt. Might be a great idea. Anyone from canada know where i can get some cheap?
30 oz is quite alot of salt..do you fill you bath to the rim. what about putting it in a spray bottle and spraying it on.
Also taking bath help acne alone. when i re did my shower in my other bathroom i had to take baths for like 2 week and it cleared up quit a bit. it was also at the end of winter which helps(me anyway) and i quit smoking (pot and cigs..went nuts but doing better now)
Hi all!
Long time no post =D
Anyway, you were talking about Epsom Salt?
Its only Magnesium Sulphate and its in most sea salts I think in smaller quantities.
Did anyone try taking Epsom Salt? I took a teaspoon each night before bed with a glass of flavoured water and it had some pretty cool results. The red inflamed acne heals up quickly, but also the whiteheads and blackheads under the skin dissolve away. All within a few days for me. Not had a breakout since, only the odd little bump.
Did anyone else get these results and do you know why it works?

Cognitive, just put the hot water and sea salt in a spray bottle and use it after you shower at nite and let it dry, leave on overnite and then wash off with plain water in am. Thats what I have done for the past 5 nites and it is starting to really help my skin. I break out on my neck and it seems thats the only thing to work for me so far.
Hello elf Girl ( and everyone else !! ),
Do you do this every night . ie put 1/4 salt and the rest hot water in to a spray bottle and spray on while hot ??
If so , are u not wasting alot as you cannot spray on the whole bottle at once
Do you use the spray when it has gone cold or only when its hot ??
the sun + salt has a much more profound effect than salt alone.
about 2 months ago I spent a couple of days up at the beach with my ex... spent about 1 to 2 hours in the water per day and just lay in the sun a bit (with sunscreen on).
over the week that followed my cysts went into total submission. I kid you not it was close to a miracle. I have not been able to replicate it with salt baths.
I am considering buying a lamp and completing my artifical project - salt + sun lamp. if I do go ahead with it ill tell you how it goes

sounds cool, man!
though isn't it because the sun provides some vitamins or something to the skin? the sun lamp provides the same stuff, too?
I'm going to take in some info from my aquarium hobby... you can buy 16 pounds of salt from a pet store for around $18. 16 pounds is 256 ounches, that's around $.07 per ounce, instead of like $0.10 if you get 15 oz for $1.50. Might save you money. Example: If you get 15 ounces for $1.50, then it'll cost like $25 for them to add up to 16 lbs/256 oz, which will last around 8 days if you use 30 oz a day. Using Aquarium salt will cost around $18 instead of $25 for 16 lbs, and will run around $2 per day opposed to $3.
My math is probably wrong. Oh well. It's still probably cheaper, depending on how much you are paying for your salt.
Is there a difference between the sea salt people bathe in and sea salt used for aquariums? Probably not but using aquarium stuff sounds kind of.. weird.
It's all dissolved ocean water, ain't it? I know a lot of aquarium salt is advertised as being phosphate and nitrate free, don't know if any salt comes with that stuff though. I'm asking in an aquarium forum right now what the difference is between marine salt and "sea salt" table salt, if there are any.

over-the-counter "sea salt" just contains sodium. Marine aquarium salt contains the sodium plus more of those other ingredients, although not all. So I guess marine aquarium salt is inbetween natural ocean water, and "sea salt". And if both the ocean and "sea salt" work for acne, then wouldn't marine salt work, too?
