Has anyone used ACV on their face and got positive results? I know its working well on my back, but I don't want it to be too much for my face. Anything helps, thanks!
I also have stopped using BP on my back since i started ACV. If I would have stopped using BP a week ago without the ACV my back would look like a pizza, no shit. This stuff is a miracle...I just wish the smell didn't make me wanna throw up. It's worth it!
Alas, I suppose we can't expect everyone to read through 10 pages of a thread...
Yes, a few people (me included) have used vinegar on their face. However, I use rice vinegar (just my preference, ACV dried me out too much), and I dilute it 70/30 so it's mostly water. My skin is pretty sensitive and I don't have many pimples anymore. Now that I only have a few here and there, I'm thinking of trying it as a spot treatment. I also haven't been using it every day, so it really just depends on how sensitive your face is and how much acne you have. When I had moderate to severe acne, I was using it everyday, sometimes twice a day. I wouldn't do that now because it would probably just irritate my healthier skin.
I don't know if it's supposed to get worse - mine didn't, but I also had a good baseline because it had been 6+ months since using any medicated treatments. If you're skin is use to benzol peroxide, you might break out after stopping and switching to vinegar. But I don't know from personal experience.
Dude! I read through all the posts here before I decided to go for this. I guess I was just so excited to hear how successful this treatment seems to be, I missed the part where people explained how GOD AWFUL the smell of the Tea Tree Oil is!
I just started today, and will definitely post with my progress. The Rice Vinegar is not so bad, then I opened the tiny bottle of TTO and almost passed out. I guess if it works, I (and my poor wife) will have to live with it.
I poured a little of the TTO into a small bottle with the vinegar at full strength; and the oil/vinegar don't mix, obviously. I am tempted to start over with just the vinegar and see if that works. I'm curious, though, if this does work, why none of the other manufacturers (Neutrogena, Oxy, Noxema, etc) don't sell products with these elements in them. Are they afriad it works too well?
Wish me luck!
hi everyone, congratulations to all those people who the vinegar worked for...
im 19 and i have suffered from acne since junior high...i dont really get it that much but i have a vast amount of cane scars on my face and body...everyonce in a while i do get one cysts but other than that the bumps are really tiny and few in number...ive decided to try this vinegar treatment and hopefully it will work for me!!!...
i was just wondering...i use empson salt regularly, will that effect the vinegar
do i have to use the TTO oils ((wat it its purpose?))
i use a fading cream right now for my face...is using a lightning cream safe??..
thank you guys for your help, im very self conscious about my skin...im gonna be going off for my second year in college and i want to fell comfortable... ..i want to wear camiz and go to the beach...[[REALLY HOPE THIS WORKS]]
So... I haven't been on this site in a while and I came across this post and thought it looked interesting. I've tried the sea salt regimen but it was too time consuming and didn't make much of a difference so I quit that. I've been applying the rice vinegar on my back for three-four days and I can already feel/see a difference. There's only a few small active spots instead of twenty and my skin feels much softer. It's fantastic! The leftover dark spots seem to be lightening slowly as well. I was an early developer, and sadly, acne came with that package so I've been trying to deal with this problem for almost 12 years. Facial acne wasn't as bad as my back and wearing tank tops/anything backless was just out of the question. Maybe this'll FINALLY be the answer and I won't feel so self-conscious wearing my bikini. Here's hoping!
Anyway, it's definitely worth a shot. I use undiluted rice vinegar on my back and just apply it with a cottonball. On my face I use a 50-50 vinegar/water ratio again applied with a cottonball. I also use Gold Bond medicated powder right after I shower.

Sorry, folks, but this solution is just not working for me. I started using this vinegar/oil mixture on my back everyday after my morning shower for about 2 weeks now and have not really seen an improvement. I guess I will just add this my list of topical treatments that have failed.
I don't mean to be a downer, as it seems this actually worked for some people on this board, but I wanted people to know that is does not work for everyone.

I'm sorry it isn't working for you, perhaps there are other things really irritating your skin that you need to get rid of?
I wanted to post on this topic because I've also found ACV to be awesome for really clearing up acne, and keeping it gone, AND reducing the red spots -- even red spots that lasted FOREVER before this.
The only bummer is the smell. But it isn't too terrible, all things considered.
ACV and Manuka Honey are the absolute best all-natural skin products ever. You feel like a salad, but the stuff works.
I also wanted to add that along with using the vinegar topically, ingesting it regularly is very good -- but I'd recommend using only non-processed vinegar. That makes a big difference because it has a lot of nutrients and enzymes that get killed off in the processing.
Braggs sells a great unprocessed vinegar and you can buy it by the gallon! It's usually in the health food stores.
It's not working guys. I am using Braggs Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar and Tea Tree Oil for about a week and a half. I apply it using my bare hands once a day. More zits are forming and the red spots on my back are hideous. I'm pretty hopeless. Nothing ever seems to work. At first the Dan Kern products seemed to work then it came right back.

feel ya, seems like nothing ever works and we ar stuck with this shit forever. only time will tell if we were wrong or right.

That's too bad. I still use rice vinegar to help control facial acne, but since I don't have a lot of spots anymore I only use it once a week or so directly on the pimples/cysts. ACV aggravated my face so I used rice vinegar instead.
I wouldn't say it "cures" acne, since you have to get down to the root cause, but for me it definitely helped as a topical to "control" acne by bringing them to a head, then dissolving the white stuff, and exfoliating to help clear red spots.

I know! What bothers me even more is that it's possible that my kids, when I have them, will suffer from the same thing. 🙁 I don't wanna pass this bad skin disorder to them. It really messes up ones self esteem huh? shoot man!

fbm, I also take acnrepril. Dude!! What the heck is this crap!?!?!? This vitamin Acnepril is supposed to handle it from the inside out...yeah not. I drink the vinegar and put it on skin...s.o.l.
Hi, i'm gonna try this out, and i'm wondering, how should i start with the Tea-Tree Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar??
i was thinking of applying the tea-tree oil first, drying it, then applying the apple cider vinegar.
also, should i dilute the ACV first with water? if so, how much? thanks for the concern!
Hi, I have a few questions about this as i have back acne aswell.
Ill start out with that im only 15 years of age but i have delt with this back ance for 2 years or so and some on my face. I have started scrubbing my face before bed with soap and rinse it off which is helping my face out but it isnt working for my back and my shoulders. Im going to try this vinegar but I have a few qusetions for someone that used vinegar and it helped them.
- Should i start off with a 50-50 solution of water and vinegar first for a week and see if I need to play with the solution a bit?
- Will the smell go away when i take a shower at night? ( since i go to school early in the morning I'd rather not walk up to my friends and have them asking why I smell like vinegar)
If someone could answer my questions really soon they would be such a big help. I live in Florida and lots of people ask me to go to the beach and hangout but I usually dont because of my back acne. Its just embarrasing when you see people out with such clear skin and then you look at your own. Hopefully this thread can come back alive since its been awhile for post but any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Dustin

I haven't mixed TTO and ACV myself, but other people on this forum seem to mix it together. You could do it either way I think.
Yes, I would dilute ACV w/ water. Start w/ 50/50 to make sure it doesn't irritate your skin. That's the safest way of doing it b/c it will probably be effective without causing sensitivity/irritation down the line.
i.e. if you use it full strength, you might not notice any irritation at first, but you're probably ruining your skin slowly b/c it's not meant to be in contact with something so acidic on a daily basis. Tap water is more on the basic (high Ph) side, so it balances out the vinegar a bit.

Yes, it makes sense to start with 50-50 on the back. On my face, I used 70-30 (30% vinegar, 70% water). But the back is more resilient than the face.
The smell will go away when you shower, but so will some of the benefits of the vinegar. The idea is that you apply it at night so it can soak in and do it's job, and then shower in the morning. If you put it on when you get home from school, and then wash it off in a night shower, it might be a little less effective since it's not staying on for as many hours. But you could try it and then let us know how it's going!

I put it on my back at full strength just because i got anxious. it didnt burn at all and the smell only lasted while it was wet. When i woke up in the morning I noticed some results already as my back was not really red at all. Im going to keep using this for a week and seee if i want to continue. Maybe 2 weeks. But as for my face is starting to breakout now and how should i apply it to my face? i tried putting just a little on last night but i didnt expect to much over one night. But should i just get a bowl and make up a 50-50 solution and dip my hands in and put it on?
Thanks for all the help. Maybe i can finally get rid of this persisting acne.

You could either get some cotton pads/cotton balls and dip it in the bowl, then wipe over face or just on pimples. Or, you can get a spray bottle and put the mixture in there.
a spray bottle seems like it could get a little messy or easily out of hand. I recently have used just some tissue or a few squares of toilet paper folded up and dip it into the cap. Ill just keep trying and hoping for improvements.
Thanks for all the help fbmbassist. I would honestly be lost without your help. Ill keep the updates everyday or so.

Thanks and good luck. The vinegar will probably help get rid of the acne faster, but remember that there might be an underlying cause. Just letting you know so you don't get discouraged if it's not a "cure". =)
I had to figure out that I was gluten intolerant as well as a few other things, but the vinegar helped as a topical.

Yeah I read somewhere that wearing tight shirts holds sweat against your body and that starts bacteria growth and then acne basically. I used to always where those white undershirt tank tops from hanes so i stopped that and see if that helps. We'll just see what happens in a few or two. This morning my face looks great compared to yesterday. It broke out pretty bad with red spots and pimples and today they are still there but smaller and not really red at all. My back looks the same as the past other days from treatment. A strange thing recently that happened like 2-3 weeks ago is i used to only have the acne on my back and then all the sudden it like moved to my uuper back and on top my shoulders. I thought it was prettty strange like it was migrating or something lol. But anyways gotta get ready for school. Its way to early..
Thanks a lot though.
