vinegar worked for me too. i don't think it fades red marks faster. in my case, it stopped new pimples from forming. i got pics about a month into the vinegar regimen. you see red marks, but no new active pimples. which is good.

well, i stopped using vinegar about a month ago, cuz i'm in college and if i sweat, i can smell it. (i apply it undiluted, and i leave it on all day and night). sure enough, i got new big pimples on my back now.

just get any apple cider vinegar at any supermarket. doesn't have to be anything special. but i guess if you can find the organic stuff, that's probly better.

Soo.

i've been following this thread for a while since I really need/want to clear up all my scars on my back. I've dealed with bacne for plenty of years, and soon it'll be my grad, and i really want to clear it up. I don't get any more acne on my back anymore, but I do have many scars left from it.

I've basically tried anything, and everything. I found this thread, and thought there's nothing to lose, so mind as well try it.

I've used this treatment now for about 2 weeks. What i do every night (not mornings included) is just use a cotton ball and rub in some Japanese Rice Vinegar (it's not Wine..) and leave it on for about a couple of minuites (3~5?) before i hop in the shower and just use a wetted loofah to scrub it off.. so i won't smell.

It's been about two weeks, and .. i kinda have to say i'm a lil dissapointed that there hasn't been anything crazy about the results since everyone seems to be getting very good results. It could be because I have some pretty severe scars, but I do have to say I have seen an improvement and it's getting slighty better.

I'll post in about a month and see if some of the scars are much lighter 🙂

-freshy

Instead of scrubbing it off so it does not smell, try keeping it on. I noticed that the smell almost goes away once it dries. I use it in the morning after I shower, and at night after I shower. My back and chest totally cleared up after a few weeks.

Is there any type of vinegar that doesn't smell?

Does vinegar cure acne due to its acidity? If so, could you use other acidic treatments (such as lemon juice)?

I just tried the ACV treatment for the first time. It kind of tingles, but my skin feels strangely soft. Hmm...I hope it helps!

This thing isn't really working well to clean up my scars at all.. seems to be kinda getting worse lately...

has it been working for anyone else?

i've used it about a month now.. no real changes for the past two weeks.

Hi after getting fustrated with the BP and AHA back regimen i decided to give this a go.

Heres what I found.

I tried Aplle Cider Vinegar at night times only full strength after showering and leave on till shower in the morning. The results where ok I guess still got the couple of spots but nothing amazing happened like mentioned in other posts.

So then..... I went back and read the original post and tried tea tree oil(with ACV) as suggested by thread starter. This broke me out a little....

Then a week ago i thought i would give the japanese rice vinegar a try instead of ACV and the results have been excellent. No new spots since starting and old spots gone and red marks fading. The results were so good that i went mad at the weekend stayed out all friday and saturday on the booze and didnt apply any vinegar and sunday morning still no spots. For the first time in 9 YEARS i took a shower after football with all the lads and no one was aware that i suffer from back acne. I shower in johnsons top-toe every morning and night (i thimk this also helps as for years i have used harsh soaps and acne gels), and at night follow with rice vinegar and leave on till morning. Its so easy to apply and takes seconds to dry. I actually think for once i am going to have clear skin FINALLY. Thanks to original poster and everyone else who posted in this thread. I urge everyone with bacne to try Rice vinegar GOOD LUCK

To those disappointed with the vinegars effectiveness of removing scars.

Keep in mind that it is the dermabrasive process of removing old skin that can take a while.

Results of fading scars will be seen a while after the acne clearing has begun.

One week into this, I use white vinegar, 20% tea tree oil solution and warm water in equal parts, applied with a cotton wool bud and have had no new spots, where normally I'd have expected at least 4 new spots on my back this week. Give it a try!

(I also change my towels and sheets every 4-5 days, rotate my pillow nightly, use a separate towel for my face and drink 1.5 litres of water minimum daily, and eat minimal dairy)

I think I may have to pick up some rice vinegar after work. I have been breaking out like crazy on my back, and now my chest

So how did you apply it? Using cotton balls? Or just using your hands?

I've been doing this for almost a month now and I think it's really working! I still get occasional pimples but they're usually smaller. My back's complexion is already improving and I love the way my skin feels! Hopefully by summer my skin back there will be flawless!

This is what I've been doing:

I've been using apple cider vinegar that's been diluted to 5% acidity (It still actually stings on my skin when applied alone because my skin is really sensitive) and I mix it with one part water, leaving an equal water to ACV ratio. I use a cotton ball to apply it and make sure my skin is pretty wet but not actually dripping with the ACV (I do this only at night) and leave it on overnight. I actually leave it on all the way until I shower again the next night (you can't smell the ACV unless you work out) and I don't put it on again until before I go to bed. I've been doing the same thing every night for the past four weeks or so and I'm loving the results. I'm thinking about using just ACV without any water to see if I get faster results, but I'm going to keep doing what I have been for now just to see how things go. Good luck everyone else!

it works for me. i got pix in my gallery, but it's not before-after. it's just the after. they're taken about a month into the regimen. i don't think it fades marks faster. i think its magic is that it stops new ones from forming. that's what happened w/ me anyway.

i got marks, from like a year ago. but no new ones lately. patience is key.

somewhat frustrated...

i was pretty excited that this would help my chest and shoulders. I put it on before bed ( not washing it off, besides the shower in the morning). are you supposed to wash it off?

make sure you wear a shirt or somethin too. i used to also put it on my head, after i'd cut my hair, then sleep w/ it in on my head. it dyed all my pillow sheets yellow. so i had to throw them out, cuz people would probably think i'm just dirty

I've had acne on both my back and chest for approximately 7 years. I have been taking antibiotics for a long time now, on and off, but on for the last year along with some Clindamycin mixed with Cetaphil wash. It has reduced my acne but does not completely clear it and i still get pimples. I have a feeling that a lot of the reason for the clearing up is because of the winter and not sweating as much as normal than in the summer. I think that if i can clear it up before this summer it would be easier to control. I think i am ready to try this method but have a couple of questions before i begin.

should i stop taking the antibiotics?

What type of body wash should be used? My dermatologist has recommended that i use Panoxyl Antibacterial Creamy Wash with what i do now, which is a wash normally for the face and even says in the instructions to use only on the face, but he recommended it?? Any suggestions?

Overall, should you not be using any other cream or medication??

Thank You for your response.

this sounds instresting! i'm just wondering if

1. you absolutely HAVE to use the tea tree oil with the vinegar or can you just use the vinegar alone by itself

2. how long did it take to clear your back

3. would regular white vinegar work?

THANKS A BUNCH!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Hello, I've had bacne for 8 years now and up until recently had given up on finding a solution to get rid of it. Thankfully I stumbled onto this website and this post.

What I do is fill the bottle cap of Rice Vinegar (one I'm using is already diluted to 4.3% acidity) full and pour some of it into my palms and work it into my back/shoulders/chest with my hands. I repeat this until the cap runs out of vinegar. I then pour another cap-full of vinegar and drink it (you get used to it eventually).

At night I do this before I sleep without washing off the vinegar (keeping it on overnight). In the morning I work in another coat of vinegar + drink before I step into the shower.

Been using for a week and a half now:

-Smoother skin

-No new break-outs

-Scars fading

It's truly remarkable. The only downside is the initial stinging and lasting smell. Well worth it imo. At one point I broke out because I used moisturizer after application in the first couple days, but after discontinuing that I had no issues at all.

Gigantic thanks to the OP for this, it feels like an eternity since I've gone to the beach without a shirt. Now I'm looking forward to summer!

It probably works without, but unless you have a specific reason not to use Tea Tree oil, you might as well. It is a proven product. Just don't pay the prices you see in stores. Go to Ebay and you can get it far cheaper. ([Removed])

I don't know if it's just me, but white vinegar caused a huge outbreak in <36 hours. I had literally dozens of whiteheads on my chest (test area) appearing between 18 and 36 hours after application.

Well Ive read pretty much everyones posts and replies, and I am sitting here with white distilled vinegar dripping down my back (spray bottle). I don't know if I am the only black guy to try this or even if that matters. It did sting a little, I guess because of some open lesions resulting from my uncanny ability to scratch my own back. However the stinging subsided, and I am getting over the smell. You guys really inspired me to try this as my first attempt to remedy what I thought was something only I was dealing with. I hope this works. Thanks Mikka for the hope. It really sucks having an athletic build and never being able to show off! I will keep posted about a week apart to comment on progress. also I am going for the tea tree oil tomorrow. ;)

so i've tried all the counter products and even tried going to a dermatologist and doctor but nothing has worked.

For the past month, i had been using apple cyder and a few drops of tea tree oil to clear my back and chest acne but i started getting red bumps. I'm not sure if it's b/c i didn't dilute the vinegar or what not but a month later, I still have acne on my back and chest with really obvious scars that hasn't cleared up. However, i'm not saying that the vinegar didn't work..

Now i'm gonna try white vinegar and dilute it to see if it works better this time

Other than lemon, does anyone know any other ways to get rid of scars? I have really noticeable scars on my back and chest and i think thats whats bothering me the most.

Also, does anyone find it hard to stop touching your acne? I have a habit of touching/scratching/popping the acne on my back and i'm trying to stop it but it's hard...

Please help.

As above, I bought the Cider Vinegar and Tea Tree Oil and started using it immediately and it's been almost 2 weeks and I can already see a difference! Usually, I would have had AT LEAST one new breakout if not more. But now I've had no new breakouts and the previous breakouts are healing!! Hope it keeps improving.

Am actually having same problem...I used apple cyder vinegar for few days time, & seems like its getting worse (many red bumps burst out). I applied it with cotton on my back after evening shower & leave it till the other evening shower. I don't know why it didn work for me..May be I leave it for too long??

I just bought japanese rice vinegar to try, hope this work for me....If not, then I think vinegar might not suitable for me....Any kind advice before I use it? Am so upset & hesitate now 🙁
