- Hey guys/girls,
As the title says, although I did not want to, over the last year Ive had to find a new cleanser, bp & moisturizer due to the products here being very inconsistent, causing breakouts because a new ingredient has been added without warning etc etc.
Hated the thought of having to try new things on my skin because I had been clear for so long on the ORIGINAL regimen, but the new moisturizer was breaking me out and then the cleanser changed, I had to look elsewhere.
anyway, this is what Ive found & what works for me, hopefully it will help someone else!
I still follow a 3 step routine but now,
- cleanser : CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
I tried their foaming cleanser but seemingly anything that foams up dries my skin out, the hydrating cleanser is a gel, its a feeling to get used to after using a foaming cleanser for so many years but it doesnt dry my skin out at all and cleanses properly. (Im a man & dont wear makeup so Im unsure how well it would work in the makeup removal category)
- Bp : neutrogena 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel
This was one of the only 2.5% bp gels I could find and it works really well. For some reason, even though Id been using dans old bp gel which was 2.5%, this initially felt like it was a little over drying so I began to only apply it in the nighttime instead of am & pm, its been working just as good as the old acne.org one.
- moisturizer : CeraVe PM facial moisturizing lotion
This stuff is amazing. Not sure why its labeled for the nighttime but Ive seen tons of people who use it daily, as do I. Its a very light gel, on application it feels very similar to the original yellow acne.org moisturizer, and it keeps me moisturized all day.
the main difference in these products is that the cleanser as well as the moisturizer both have niacinamide in them (I know some people have a sensitivity) as well as hyaluronic acid. If those things dont bother you, you might be pleasantly surprised with how they feel on your skin.
anyway, just wanted to put some alternatives out there for anyone looking, god knows the acne.org products change like the weather these days so hopefully this helps anyone else looking elsewhere 🙂
all the best to everyone 🙏🏼

Thanks for sharing any suggestions for glycolic acid?

Its because it doesn't contain SPF. The full Cereve regime uses a BHA/AHA serum which increases sun sensitivity, so they recommend their SPF moisturiser for daytime use.
