Pour some in your hand and add a little baking soda. The result is nearly identical to Pernox and much better than *that* apricot scrub with the all-over-the-place-sized grains in it.
Hello "snmatthis,''
What do you mean by "the house brand of liquid skin disinfectant soap?"Just what is "liquid skin disinfectant soap" anyway? Do you mean a product similar to "Dial antibacterial liquid hand soap" or "Softsoap" hand soap, except to purchase the store brand of one of those national brands because the store brandis less expensive?

When Pernox was discontinued, I tried all kinds of exfoliating scrubs in the hopes of finding a replacement. Unfortunately, mostof the ones I tried didn't work nearly as good.
I eventually I thought of the idea of looking up what each of the ingredients in Pernox did, and came across one ingredient in particular that was supposed to help the product penetrate the skin (I don't remember exactly what it was called.)
Anyway, using this ingredient as a guide for what products to try, I eventually stumbled upon a product called Clearisil Rapid Action Scrub, and it's been working for me for years. It's nearly as good as Pernox and I highly recommend trying it. I usually buy it online from Amazon or Walmart, but sometimes find it in drugstores or Target.

Hi Pernoxusers. There is a new product listed on EBay. It is called Personox. It is a reformulated version of Pernox removing the materials thatare banned ( polyethylene beads)and those no longer allowed in skin care products. Read the story. It was created by a 40+ year user of Pernox. It was just listed over the weekend. Fragrance was also duplicated.
Good luck.

I discovered this thread some years agolike I suspect many of you did - by repeatedly Googling after Pernox had been discontinued, in hopes of finding a reasonable facsimile. I have tried many/most of the recommended alternatives that have been discussed here, but was invariably disappointed. I kept checking back every few months, in hopes that either a better alternative would come up, or that Pernox would somehow miraculously make a comeback.
I had been using a combination of the Yu-Be scrub and sulfur soap, occasionally backing those up with aluminum oxide crystals, but this was still an imperfect solution as it didn't completely replicate the super-clean, "tight" feel that Pernox did, plus with three steps involved, it was a bit cumbersome compared to simply dispensing a small bead of Pernox and scrubbing away.
I have long had a saved search for Pernox set up on eBay that sends me an email whenever a new listing matching that search string appears. Initially it was intended to assist in locating remaining stocks of Pernox shortly after it had been discontinued, then it was more to see if someone would set a new record for highest price paid for a partially-used tube of Pernox. More often than not, in recent years I never got any hits, as supplies had long since dried up.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, when I got a saved search email listing the Personox product described above. After having seen and tried so many other purported replacements for Pernox, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't skeptical, but after reading the description I figured it was worth a try and ordered a tube.
It arrived, and I wet my face, cracked open the tube seal, applied a small dab, and promptly had a flashback to when Pernox was still readily available, a feeling I hadn't experienced in eight years. This stuff is absolutely and unequivocally the real deal, and I can't imagine that any longtime Pernox user would tryit and think otherwise. I can't overstate how pleased I am to have discovered Personox.
Full disclosure: I am not affiliated with Personox in any way except as a very happy customer, but I did write the review that Garyquoted above. It is rare that Ibelieve in aproduct strongly enough to give an unsolicited testimonial, but this is most definitely one of those times. I hope this doesn't run afoul of the forum rules prohibiting advertising, as I believe this is information that will be of great interest to those who have previously posted in this thread, and who, like me, were still searching for a true replacement for Pernox.
