Got me a natural sunscreen. But is it comedogenic?

I wouldn't worry about the lanolin, if you've never had an allergic reaction to wool ( lanolin is made from sheep ) you probably won't have any. If it's 9th on list, really don't worry because ther's very little in it.

I tried it today! Went to a dog park, and figured that I would need it.

It went on ok, and made my hands pretty greasy (even though it claimed to be "non-greasy"). It feels ok on the skin, and no allergic reaction to it. Whether it is comedogenic to me...who knows? Only time will tell.

user posted image Captain's log supplemental. The crew of the enterprise was nearing the M-Class planet beta scramlon, and due to the proximity of the sun, I ordered the crew to apply Derma Soleil sunscreen for the tough roads ahead.

These are the voyages... user posted image

I was thinking more Captain Kirk, Jc. I think jean-Luc is a little too sophisticated!!! wink.gif

I think we could do a whole star trek episode on this thread:

Captain Jc's universal translator was thrown into dissary whilst perusing the rear of a strange, shiny object known as the "Derma Solleil". A strange, white liquid appeared to be oozing from an orifice on the object, and after analysing the composition of the substance, the captain was concerned as to the presence of mysterious composites known cyrptically as 'lanolin' and 'stearic acid'.

The ship - U.S.S Acne-org-'s central computer identified the 'Derma Solleil' to be a benevolent artificial substance, composed of substances that may be toxic if brought into prolonged contact with humanoid pores.

Captain JC decided to test the liquid to investigate whether its composition was harmless, or whether it was, as he suspected, comedogenic.

Following a short investigation, the captain evaluated the liquid as relatively inocuous, although he retains the suspicion that the substance 'derma solleil', from which the liquid appeared to be issuing, may change its intentions as it becomes more exposed to humanoids lifeforms.

The ships computer logs on 'Derma Solleil' now reads as follows:

May be hazardous to humanoids due to the presence of unidenfied substances in its chemical composition, chiefly, lanolin. (which has been found in the veins of Borg organisms)

May be beneficial in warding off the solar rays that can damage a humanoid exposed to the damaging chemical 'accutane'.

May be beneficial to those who have come into comtact with lactic or glycolic acid-based chemicals.

initially, seems benevolent, but its development will be monitored. As we learn more about this substance, we may discover that it is damaging to humanoids prone to the disease, acne vulgaris.

(sorry - I have WAY too much time on my hands now that exams are over!!!

For me, I would be most worried about the large amount of olive and soybean oil in it. Olive oil is a fairly heavy oil, that a lot of acne prone skin might have problems with. The jojoba and sweet almond oils should be fine. Lanolin should be ok if you're not sensitive to it. The shea butter might be too heavy for some acne prone skin.

I just came across this stuff, and was debating whether to try it (since it's cheaper than my current stuff).

I thought that olive oil would be a great moisturizer for the skin. I'm just glad I have this physical sunblock available in my health food store!
