BEWARE Niacinamide in new moisturizer

I recently ordered more moisturizer from acne.org and upon reading the front of the bottle, I learned you have replaced the licorice root with niacinamide; however, I was totally unaware when purchasing so I want to make others aware. Ive read about the benefits of niacinamide and understand why Dan made the switch and I think for most folks it will be a positive change, but some people cant tolerate niacinamide and will experience breakouts. Since using this new moisturizer, I have developed many new pustules and cysts and this has been the only recent change in my skin routine, so those with a niacinamide sensitivity, please beware. I dont understand why this change wasnt advertised anywhere. Additionally, the website hasnt been updated and still includes photos of the old moisturizer which lists licorice root extract on the front of the bottle and in the ingredients list- not niacinamide. I do remember that last time there was a change to the moisturizer (when Dan switched from yellow licorice root to a white/colorless licorice root), there was a card included in my shipment package to indicate this, so I dont understand why that wasnt included this time. In the future, if there are any changes to your products, please notify customers in some way and update the product page before selling the new and improved item. I now have a $30 bottle of moisturizer that I cant use and thats incredibly frustrating.

You are correct. Due to the feedback I've been getting on the Moisturizer, I switched out the Licorice Root for Niacinamide in the 16 oz. size of Moisturizer.

I updated the shopping cart to reflect this change. Sorry for the confusion on this.

The bottom line: The feedback I've been getting so far is that this new version of Moisturizer with Niacinamide is extremely similar to the version with Licorice Root, and people want to see more significant changes. Therefore, I have been back in the lab reformulating the Moisturizer literally from the ground up.

My concern about what you are experiencing: There is no reason why the Niacinamide-containing Moisturizer would cause the issues you have noted. It is simply not a big enough change to cause those things to occur. Therefore, I strongly advise you to think about other things that might be causing the issues. I'll PM you as well. There's got to something else going on...another variable at play...that is causing your breakout. Let's figure it out.

I don't get why the formula continues to change. I too received this new stuff with niacinamide which I did not want. The

licorice root was much better. I'm done ordering here. Sorry but it's too expensive to be ordering this stuff and have no

clue what you will get. Very disappointed.

@dan After using a moisturizer containing niacinamide, my skin became very sensitive and small troubles appeared.
Just in case, my skin subsided when I used the product before renewal, and when I used the product again, I had skin problems.
16 ounces of niacinamide
How about keeping the licorice root extract as an 8oz product?
After seeing the product description that the 8oz product will contain niacinamide, I am thinking of purchasing about 100 8oz products in advance.

I have completely reformulated the entire Moisturizer because you guys keep telling me you don't like the licorice one or the niacinamide one now either. I really liked the licorice one and also like the niacinamide one, but I have to listen to you guys and hear you, and I do.

The next iteration will be completely different. I already formulated it, sent it out to a bunch of testers, and it's unanimous that everyone likes it. I didn't receive any negative input actually. So that will be next. It is pretty darn amazing I think.

When we'll have the chance to get it?

I order every ingredient myself to make sure it's the ideal one. Then manufacturing. Then bottling. So I'd say about 4 months.

I have been going through the exact same reaction. I broke out more after using the new moisturizer. It all makes sense now. Im glad I could relate! Ive been using acne.org products since 2016 and was always able to rely on the products to clear out my skin. But, with the new addition of niacinamide, I cant use the moisturizer. Its super frustrating. Acne.org was the only company I could rely on to clear out my skin. Now, what can I do?? Im beyond frustrated. Nothing else works. I now have to use another moisturizer as a replacement, which doesnt even moisturize my skin well. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

Please at least sell another moisturizer with licorice root extract as an alternative option for your customers who cant tolerate niacinamide

I was wondering the same thing with my last moisturizer bottle that I ordered, and was so disappointed. Niacinamide makes my face flushed and irritated, as well as causing breakouts of closed comedones. It has done this with every product that contains it. Ive depended on this moisturizer for many years now and it has been the only one to moisturize effectively without breaking my skin out. Its becoming increasingly difficult to find a moisturizer that doesnt contain niacinamide in it, and most of the ones that dont have oils or silicones which my skin cant tolerate either, and believe me, Ive been looking for another product because the customer service from this company has gone downhill in the last few years. Once I got a bottle of the lotion that smelled like burnt plastic- not the norm at all. When alerting customer service I got a very rude reply back saying that it was impossible and maybe I shouldnt buy the product if I dont like it. This reformulation is the nail in the coffin for me unfortunately

I was a huge fan of the regimen up until the change of formula these past couple of years. I remember the formula with the yellow hue being the absolute best for my sensitive skin, the formulas after that made my skin burn and breakout.

when will the new formula be available to purchase?

Hey everyone! I recently ordered more moisturizer from acne.org and noticed they've replaced licorice root with niacinamide. While I understand the benefits of niacinamide, some people, like me, may experience breakouts. Since using the new formula, I've developed many new pustules and cysts.

For those with niacinamide sensitivity, please be aware! The website hasn't been updated and still shows the old formula, which is misleading. In the future, acne.org, please notify customers of any changes and update your product page. Now I have a $30 bottle of moisturizer I can't use, and that's super frustrating.

I have been using the new niacinamide moisturizer and I've been developing a lot of white heads. I been using it for about 2-3 weeks thinking I just needed to get used to the new formula and it should be fine after 3-5 weeks. I had enough of it and been frustrated due to all these breakouts every single day getting 3-4 new white heads near my lip/chin area so I decided to use the old licorice root moisturizer a try that I had left over from before. OMG let me tell you immediate relief and no break out the very next day. So after that niacinamide moisturizer went in the trash and I have ordered the small bottle that has the licorice root . If you do some research there are tons of people breaking out after using niacinamide (google/reddit).

Dan... your yellow moisturizer from way before was the best one..

To all the people that complain about your shirts staining yellow or bleached from the old moisturizer (Ya don't really have acne, I bet you have like 4-5 blemishes total in your face reason why you guys complain about shirts being stained or bleached) I had bad acne for 20+ years, I would rather sacrifice the shirts or towels being bleach or stained for my face to be beautiful and cleared any day.

I got too many complaints and low ratings to continue with the old, yellow Moisturizer. I always liked it, and I really like the new one as well, but overall I'm still hearing from you guys that you're not happy. Even though I like the ingredients, feel, and performance of the Moisturizer, I'm not making it only for me. I'm making it for you guys too so I need to hear that you're not happy enough with it.

So, I formulated a new Moisturizer from the ground up. Totally new. And I sent it out to about 20 testers and got all positive comments. I literally got no negatives. So we have our new Moisturizer formula in the works. I am working on getting it made for you guys now. I have learned not to quote a date because things can come up with supply chain stuff, but it is on the horizon.

When I do start selling the new Moisturizer I will stop selling the current one, so for anyone who likes the current one, you'll want to get a couple extra I would think.

Please switch back to the licorice root. Having very sensitive skin this change has caused redness and breakouts I havent ever had before the switch of ingredients.
