Ok you a

I don't appreciate your

Meh.. whatever. Let's just say that America has a slightly different lifestyle that the average Canadian wouldn't relate to which is slightly off putting - not necessarily in a bad way either, it's just a different culture. I feel like the U.S is just "really out there" if you know what I mean, and Canada is just sort of under the radar.

I don't have acne.

What's wrong with being different? sad.png

UNDER the radar??? Sweet tap dancing Jesus, my family's gone missing!!! How will I ever get them back??? Hold onto your pineapples, were going north and beyond!! We've already lost Africa and Australia, we are NOT going to loose this one!!!

I think I get what you mean but I've come to assume that when people usually mention "Americans" on the internet (in mostly negative ways) that they're actually just summarizing the entire north continent overall. It's not like they're shoving you under a rug... the very idea of hiding a Canadian or ignoring them because they're Canadian makes me want to burst out laughing and I honestly have no idea why... probably because it makes no sense whatsoever. Everyone knows who and what Canadians are, lol... people go where the warmth and heat is, with is further south of our continent. Canadian's aren't being ignored and if anything some should enjoy the solitude if they haven't already.

On an acne site with no acne... 0_0... ohhhhhkaaayyy.

I meant I don't have acne *anymore*. Grew out of now at nearly 25. Had it for thirteen years straight; very aggressive genetic strain.

Oh shut up please... I am sick and tired of your stupid comments here. How did you grow out of it, if you a few days ago you had cystic acne all over your body?? Stop spreading garbage on this forum ok? I am Canadian and I am ashamed that you are embarrassing us

What the Hell?I never said a few days ago I had it all over my body you silly canuck, I said *I used to* YEARS ago. Learn to read more carefully. I almost NEVER post on this site. And stupid comments? I believe I read a post on this website in the hollistic section a few months ago from a girl that claimed she had one bite of a sugar cookie and broke out into a thousand pimples the next day... ummm yeah. That's the type of grand intelligence you see around this website apparently.

Diet never made a difference for me and I stuck with it for years. Acne has nothing to do with diet "Sorey" mr.canuck.

I don't appreciate your lies and I don't appreciate your insults... To me you are a pathetic human being... If I get a warning for calling you "pathetic" and "rude" and "insensitive B****" then so be it!

and to return to the original topic, I don't think it is true. I am Canadian and I have acne and I am 28. I see people in my community who are my age or younger/older and who also have acne.

Good nite smile.png!

Wow, you sure are hateful. Pathetic human being? for this? come on now. Lies? I never lied about sh*t. What insults? I told you to improve your reading comprehension (which sucks by the way) and that's pretty much it.

28 and you still have acne? Just get some Proactiv, goodness me. Justin Bieber uses it, it will clear your skin.

You are officially a troll smile.png. Ignored from now on smile.png

OOOOooh Yaaaah you Betcha' Eh?

"And you can not get acne from an allergy to "oranges" that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life and medically impossible."

-how can u say that?

of course u can get zits and other skin issues from allergic reactions.

and most importantly, how can u state that its "medically impossible"?

u could check anecdotal evidences if u want but actually u dnt need to.

its something thats taught in bio-science in high school.remember the chapter "immunology"?

there's a sub-topic which explains the allergic reactions?

but i'd like to add that 'growing out of acne at a certain age' is perfectly normal.

there is nothing crazy about it.

also, there is no doubt that PREDOMINANTLY(!) acne is a teenage or young adult issue.

(before anyone jumps on me - i never said adult acne is not a problem.its widespread but still not on the majority side)

also,i'd request people to not be overly 'abusive' no matter what the other person says.

if u dnt agree and are angry protest and point out the bad.

u dnt have to be 'nice' but please do not call names.

We all know that adult acne is not rare. So you can see how much validity there is to darheart's posts.

And just a few months ago, she was absolutely positive that acne was caused by hormones, period. And of course, that diet had nothing to do with your hormones. Now she is just as positive that acne has nothing to do with hormones. So you see what a stable, rational person she is.

Also, in her very first post in this thread, she said that the superior Canadian diet was probably the reason all Canadians have clear skin.

I'm Canadian and I agree with this only a bit. I have acne myself, but I don't really see many people out there who do have it. Even in my high school people generally have clear skin (not kidding). Maybe it's because we have less stress up here in Canada? I'm sure diet goes into it too just a little, we don't have a diet much different than Americans but it's certainly not as high fat and junky (no offense).

I went to Georgia last year with my family and the portion sizes you guys have in restaurants is ridiculous and the amount of fast food establishments are overwhelming. I'm sure that plays havoc with people hormones.

This is one of the silliest threads I've ever read! Canadians get acne. (And we are not 'better' than Americans. Any Canadian who says that is a racist, IMO). I know this because I am Canadian, and I know lots of people who struggle with acne like I do. The idea that we all have clear skin up here is ridiculous. We're not that much different than Americans. The only factor that may play a role is indeed our healthcare. I see people on the Accutane logs complaining about how their meds cost $400 or more. Mine cost $70 a month, so it is much more attainable for your average person.

Canada is not a wonderland - it is just a place and all places have their issues. Like acne. We have that issue too. And the coldness does not help. Trust me.

Please don't start this thread again. You'll bring Darkheart back. She appears whenever Canada is mentioned. And her crazy posts are too tempting, like a scab you can't stop picking. It lures me back many times a day to see what she's posted next. Don't mention Canada. Or health care.

We have issues but the states is harder place to live overall it seems. Most people down there seem to be under a lot of stress compared to the average Canadian, I can't help but think that perhaps affects their hormones possibly. Stress is a BIG factor in acne severity.

Life in the states from what I've read and seen seems really, REALLY hard. They have stresses in their lives (mostly over healthcare) we can't even begin to imagine as Canadians - what these people go through is just brutal. We don't have a fabulous diet up in Canada but in America their food is LOADED with artificial chemicals, preservatives, hormones and other garbage that the government wouldn't even allow in Canada.

Acne exists here in Canada for sure, but I think in the states it's definitely more of an epidemic.

Oh, never mind. I see she's banned. What a relief. But I see there's other nonsense being posted. Sorry, but people eat roughly the same food in Canada.

Not really. The diet is similar in a certain respect but we don't eat as poorly as you Americans.

Oh sheesh. There is a McDonalds down the street from me, and I am certain there are a bunch of Canadians in there EATING THAT CRAP RIGHT NOW. Sorry, alternitivista, but, like you, I find it incredibly bothersome when my fellow Canadians start acting as though they are better than Americans. Even our healthcare system is far from perfect, although I do appreciate it. And I must say - with the windchill it is -29 F where I am right now, so being a Canadian is not always so super happy yay.

Does anyone remember when that "French Women Don't Get Fat" book came out? How about "Bringing Up Bebe" that promises the French have nice, compliant children? I have no idea how these silly stereotypes perpetuate. France certainly has obese people waddling around, and some of the most spoiled, whiny, tantrum-y children I've seen eusa_boohoo.gif

The one real difference is that America is covered by the media 24/7. Americans do have a habit recording others and being recorded, and then posting that information on the internet, the tv, anywhere anyone will see. America is not very private. What came out of America...let's see...Facebook...MySpace...Reality TV...yeah, privacy is not a very high priority.

I don't see a whole lot of "let's make fun of random Canadians I shot pictures of in Wal-Mart" web sites, or "let's gather all the fattest people in France and film them trying to lose weight". It's easy to idealize countries that are a bit more mysterious, just because we're ignorant of their flaws.

There are reasons for this and it has nothing to do with vitamin D. Here we go:

- Canada has a much smaller population, 35 million, less people, less acne in comparison to the U.S.

- Universal healthcare. Canadians at any income can get their acne treated or under control free of charge which is probaby why people are claiming to see 'less' of acne in Canada.

- Cold climate (which is less likely to aggravate acne)

this thread should be closed evidence is anecdotal at best. I am american and I very rarely see other people with bad cystic acne. This is probably more indicative of the psychological impact acne has on people. The worse your acne is the more likely you are to minimize your social interaction.

I also have never seen a paper that provides a pathway for Vit D to reduce acne on its lonesome. It seems, when it comes to reducing acne, there is a stark contrast between sitting on your ass inside and moving around outside in the sun. However, I would be amazed if Vitamin D was the sole mechanism of this reduction.

Also, nationalist silliness that is the first dozen or so replies is shameful to both countries.

I don't think we can really compare canada to the u.s in terms of acne prevalance as I mentioned before because of the dramatic population difference. A country like china or russia in comparison to the united states in terms of how many people get acne would be an interesting comparison.

Apparently many people in china suffer from inflammatory acne (as I've heard here on the forums).

If it was true, I have a hunch that it has to do with different diets. In the US, high-fructose corn syrup and other processed foods are promoted to a higher extent than Canada and these have been shown make acne worse, generally.

But I'm not sure that Canadians really have less acne.

Canada doesn't put hormones in our milk: "Growth hormones to stimulate milk production are not approved for sale or permitted for use in Canada."

Source: http://www.dairygoodness.ca/good-health/dairy-facts-fallacies/hormones-for-cows-not-in-canada

Either way, I cut out milk and have seen amazing results from that.

I see a lot of people with acne here, though!
