that's all you lost in the shower? wow that is good. I could make a wig from the contents of my bath and floor. I don't understand how that could make your existing hair thicker though if its only been a few weeks, hair is dead matter.

I lose more, that is just a few. You could be right maybe the thinning hair shed first and I got the wrong impression. I'm shedding less tho

So still unknown if RU 100% works at stopping the shedding. I do see new hairs coming in which is a plus but I have not been on RU long/consistently enough to have had it stop the shedding. The big issue is the side effects. With 20 mg per application, I experienced very bad side effects such as brain fog, body aches, ear aches, chest pains, shortness of breath. This was after 3 days. I stopped RU and the side effects went away within a week. I then tried 10 mg per application and experienced the same side effects, not as bad as 20 mg but not worth it. I went off RU another week and the side effects subsided and eventually went away. I am now trying 2 mg per application and have had no sides. It has only been 3 days but the side effects were definitely there with 10 mg & 20 mg per day after 3 days. I will keep you guys updated on my progress and if I stop the shedding and have regrowth. I am also applying Rogain 2x per day.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is RU?

Update:

Still getting a bit freaked out and worried by my hair loss but I got my results back from the doctor and my testyorone levels are normal, my vitamin d3 levels are ok, my cholesterol is fine (though a little high) but the bad news is I might be diabetic as I have quite high glucose levels :-( I've just had another blood test and they will let me know next week.

I've added Beta Sisosterol to my supplements just yesterday, so now I'm taking it along with zinc and vitamin d3. Still thinking of trying the more renokwned hair loss shampoos. The thickening shampoo and conditioner is too drying and its not stopping my hair loss.

By the way, has anyone tried Beta Sisosterol or Saw Palmetto?

Update- hairloss continues, mostly at the temples and crown. Medications gave me to many side effects so I am using toppik on the crown. When I graduate university this year I will take my first paycheck and get SMP. I"m tired of wasting time and money on supplements, went that route for three years. Regarding sex, I have lots of it, but don't ejaculate. It makes you strong in the gym and very creative, but it never did anything for my hair.

Toppik- http://www.gll-getalife.com/entry/hair-loss-prevention-guide-part-4

Is there any risk, insofar as hair loss is concerned, in regularly taking a multi-vitamin that contains B5? I am currently considering "Garden of Life, Vitamin Code - Men's Multi," which contains 20 mg of Pantothenic Acid or 200% of one's daily recommended value. Is there any benefit in taking L-Cyestine alongside this particular multi-vitamin? I have a receding hair but it is mostly genetic. Still, I do not want to do anything that could make it worse.

No risk. We took 500X that dose.

Tried very high doses of biotin, I'd did nothing but make my hair grow faster.

Tried beta sitosterol and saw palmetto both didn't really do much

@Blue09

Thanks for replying and sorry they didn't work out. I'll try them for a few months and see but it probably wont work.

I've just bought some Emu oil to rub into my scalp, which has apparently some anti-inflammatory properties that helps hair grow. My daily routine for February looks like this (and i'm going to stick at it for a few months and see where I am at the end of it.)

Vitamin d3

zinc

Beta Sitosterol

Emu oil applied to the scalp twice daily

shampoo three times a week (No more)

Really hope this improves things. If my results from the doctor come back and reveal that I am in fact borderline diabetic then I will have to rethink my current diet again too.

Only thing that works for MPB is propecia, RU, rogaine and nizoral. Everything else is a waste of time

why did you decide that it is MPB? Drop zones are not typical of MPB

What about manuka honey? I thought I read something about that helping. Seems like my receding hairline gets worse every year, and I'm only 26. Maybe one day I'll consider a hair transplant.

I'm 26 too and will be considering a hair transplant in the next few years I think. It's not quite bad enough to go that route yet, the ladies still like me for now.

Manuka honey lightens your eyes

Only hair disease with no cure. There is also complete hair loss, but then our eyebrows and hair on the rest of the body would fall out too.

Don't won't give you a transplant unless you are on proepcia because your hair would continue to recede after the transplant

@ Itsoveryes

Just out of interest why would you recommend Nizoral as a treatment for hair loss? I always thought it was just an anti dandruff shampoo.

Also what's RU?

Sorry for the questions, I've been paying attention to my hair loss in the past few months so I guess i'm at the beginning of a frustrating journey.

Thanks for the links. I'm UK based and the Nizoral shampoo doesn't seem that expensive online.

Later; Have ordered some after doing a bit of research (it is pretty cheap so I don't have much to lose and my scalp has been itching like hell lately)

hm the nizoral thing is interesting, if it is one of the only things that helps maybe we can assume that the problem is in the external scalp? I for one noticed a sudden onset of dandruff when using b5 and still have it. Anyone else found this?

I bought a natural anti dandruff shampoo today as nizoral made me shed drastically from the first use :/ and I don't like the idea of chemicals. will let you know if it works

To be honest, I don't like the idea of chemicals either but then I remind myself that I've been trying natural remedies for acne for years and they didn't do much for my skin until I stumbled on the right facial care routine (either that or I've just grown out of most of my acne as i'm 28 now). At the moment I'm willing to try either chemical or natural products but I'm not leaning towards either side, as I'm desperate for anything to work.

My nizoral hasn't arrived yet so I used my Biotin shampoo today (with supposedly 70% natural ingredients) and I had the worst shedding of hair I've ever had. My hair just feels so weak and brittle.

On the plus side, I've had no side effects from the beta sitosterol so far, and I quite like the feel of Emu oil on my skin as it absorbs pretty nicely.

Used nizoral many times on and off cycle. It's ok stuff but doesn't solve our problem and won't stop your hairloss

The way I understand it is that Nizoral provides a good platform to build on as it just soothes the scalp (so I've heard) and its generally used as a support for other products (rogain etc). It's disappointing to hear that you guys have been on it and not seen improvements though

One curious thing I have to mention is that when I was 26 and still suffering from acne, I was cutting out dairy and gluten in my diet but I was eating a lot of soya based stuff because I wanted a substitute for the foods I would normally enjoy (I know, I know, not a very healthy alternative right?). Looking back at pictures of those days my hair still had the widow's peak but its really quite long and messy, and had a thickness I wouldn't be able to get now two years later. Maybe the soya products were cutting off a lot of the DHT in my body and that was why my hair was growing thick again. I have to say that also I was noticing the usual side effects of soya consumption in men in that my libido was practically zero for a long time. Anyway, has anyone thought of Soya consumption as something they might use?

I should also note that my acne was pretty bad at the time and that soya is generally not recommended for acne sufferers, but i'm curious as to its effects on hair growth.
