Hello guys. I'm 19 years old. Ive been taking Vitamin B5 10g/day for almost a year, maybe even more. It was from 17-18 years old I think, I cant really remember.

Im pretty sure I had a long break this last summer but this autumn I started to break out again and bought some more vitamin b5, didnt help at all, I think the dose I was taking now was 5G/day, and now ive have not been taking vitamin b5 for atleast 3-4 months.

Well the problem is, I started shedding hair 4 months ago. I think my hairlines have recedeed a little bit, but I lose hair all over my head. I remember when I played football and I grabbed the hair in my neck, 3-5 small hairs could follow.

I also have dandruff, itchy scalp, Ive had it for like 3 months now, it doesnt get better. I always thought I lost hair because of that, but now when I saw this thread yesterday and read all of it, it must be because of the vitamin B5. And I literally cried, yes first time I cried since my grandmother died 5 years ago, I dont know what to do if I'm gonna lose my hair because of this.

I still live with my parents, I havent told them about this. Ive just talked with them about my problems with scalp and ive been to the doctor, they think its seborrhoeic dermatitis.

For the last month, I also experienced strong fatigue and my eyes are tired all the time, its like its hurting my eyes when I look at movies or playing games that requires much focusing.

Ive seen you guys talking about adrenal fatigue, thyroid and mpb. I want you to help me now, I'm gonna talk to my parents about this and I wanna know what test I should get at my doctor, to see if everything is right in my body. So please, name the most important tests about this problem and I will try get them done and share my results with the rest of you!

Hey bud I literally have the exact same symptoms and I've had them for the last 3 years, the fatigue is horrible and I know exactly what you mean about the eyes. I took a blood test myself but I can't remember what it was I think it was just a normal one checking vitamin deficiency and stuff. Itsoveryes is the best person to speak to about what to test for. I bought a home thyroid test kit but that can back normal aswell as the blood test, I think you need to check for.....

Dht level

Thyroid

Vitamin deficiency

And adrenal fatigue if it's possible.

I've been shedding for 3 years and the receding is getting worse and worse it sucks, but if you do get these tests done mate please come and share your results with us as you may just find the answer were all looking for. Good luck

Thanks for fast answer man. The strange thing is, I started to take vitamin B5 when I was 17, and now im 20 in 2 months. And its the last 5 months ive noticed shedding. I never had a single problem with my hair when I was taking 10g/day Vitamin b5, every barber ive been to have commented my hair about how thick it was etc.

Ive seen some guys said propecia works, have you tried it Blue09? I might aswell just order some on the internet if thats available and take it in precaution.

I got 2 brothers, 1 who are 100% my brother and the other one is the son of my mom not my dad, and they are 22 and 32 and both have great hairlines, but my dad is maybe a norwood 4 at the age of 50.

But yeah, first thing I'm gonna talk to my parents and try get these test done. Cause im pretty sure a normal MPB doesnt make you more tired and all that

Honestly guys...like others have said you have to treat this the same as MPB. It is pretty obvious that this vitamin causes early shedding in the same style.

I said I had success using stinging nettle before and maybe that was right but DHT blockers make me feel like a zombie. So for the last few months I have been using Nizoral and more recently Minoxidil 5%.

I definitely have some good regrowth to the point where my hairline will be receded by 1cm as opposed to 1-2 inches.

The best advise is not to wait around but just take some action, the same way as any guy going bald would.

So I've been re-reading this whole thread from start to finish now, and as it is now it seems pretty hard to get an overview over regimens that have actually been succesful. Itsoveryes seems to have good news with the RU and ketoconazole.

Could anyone else who seem to have found a succesful regimen recap/update, so we have the latest and best info collected.

For me personally nothing has worked so far, I still have diffuse shedding all over the scalp, and all my bloodtests have been within the normal range as I have previously posted.

Since we believe it is MPB you would treat it with what's called the big 3. That is an internal DHT blocker such as fin/avodart (stronger), rogaine, and a shampoo containing keto. RU is an alternative DHT blocker which is supposedly safer due to it blocking DHT only at the scalp, not systemically. Remember there is no cure, all this will slow down the hair loss until hopefully a real cure is developed.

I personally have focused on other areas in my life. Gained ten pounds of muscle, put more stye in my wardrobe, great haircut can make it look like you have zero loss.

Agreed. It clearly started Male Pattern Baldness. It's what every dermatologist labeled my hair loss and I've been to 5 in the past 3 years. In addition, my scalp biopsy came back conclusive MPB.

I am going to try to get RU. Just difficult since you order from China...

ockquote>

http://www.thekaneshop.com/index.php/popular-products/ru58841.html

Order RU there via western union. It's legit, where I got mine.

http://www.mpbtreatments.com/#/shop/4563157000/KB-Solution/1716873

Order KB there, it's the vehicle to deliver the RU into the hair follicle. Never oder pre made it degrades.

Order a small bottle with dropper on amazon to mix the solution. It's very easy.

DON'T go higher than a 4% solution, the KB can only carry that much solution at one time.

http://www.baldtruthtalk.com/showthread.php?t=12391

Complete RU guide

Hey dude how's it going? Couple questions for ya while taking the RU did you get and side effects like libido loss or anything? Also completely off topic what supplements did ya use to help gain 10 pounds?

No side effects from RU, none. I used n-large 2, but it will break you out f you can't handle milk. Now i use egg protein+maltodextrin and peanut butter

What was your RU to KB ratio?

And which KB did you order? For 1,2, or 5% RU?

I order RU 5%. I forget the ratio honestly, I followed the guide I linked too. It works out to 4% of the solution

Drinking hs been mentioned in this thread. Interesting enough Fin which helps hair, reduces the desire to drink.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/baldness-drug-curbs-mens-interest-in-alcohol-study-suggests/

Also found this:

Alcohol-related hair loss can be attributed to the depletion of the bodys supplies of iron and zinc. Zinc is known to play a major role in hair health, and is also used by the body in the absorption of a host of other nutrients needed for normal hair production. Zinc isnt stored within the body and needs to be consumed on a daily basis. Alcohol can prevent zinc from being absorbed properly, so leading to a deficiency and potential hair loss.

Iron deficiency meanwhile, in women particularly, has been shown in numerous studies to be a contributing factor in hair loss conditions such as Telogen Effluvium. A 1998 study by researchers at Oregon University found that out of 153 women with Telogen Effluvium taking part, iron deficiency was the primary cause of female hair loss in 72 percent of cases.

(check iron levels via blood work if you drink a lot? Iron usually isn't tested in men since we don't have menstrual cycles)

As well as these two key minerals, alcohol abuse depletes many other nutrients associated with cell production, growth and hormone regulation, including vitamin A, vitamin B12 and calcium. The net effect is that overall health of hair will suffer, and new hair production may slow down and even cease, as with Telogen Effluvium.

Great work itsoveryes, thanks. Even though my hair loss is most visible at the temples, I have shedding on the entire scalp, not just on the top as with MPB. In the following days I will investigate what further tests/steps could be taken. Will possibly try RU.

Little update for y'all. Hair loss has slowed, but only slightly. This honestly might be due to the fact that I have much less hair. Stool is more regular now so that is good. I developed a weird rash around my mouth for the past few weeks but some cream helped it out. Hair and scalp are still extremely oily but also very dry and flakey after showering. I always have a sore throat in the morning which after looking up is apparently indicative of several things, (CFS, thyroid issues, and adrenal fatigue) all of which have been suggested by others at some point. The CFS and thyroid issues (from what I understand) are generally brought on from adrenal fatigue so I'm focusing on that right now. Another big symptom of adrenal fatigue is hairloss so I think this might be the right track seeing as how pantothenic acid is known to affect adrenals. The only symptoms I'm getting are the sore throat and hairloss but other have reported fatigue and brain fog which are also symptoms of CFS which could be adrenal related. I'm currently taking a multivitamin and milk thistle but am looking into other ways to improve/repair adrenal gland function.

Hello everyone....

I've read the entire post and I may be able to help.

I recently started seeing some MPB... So I looked for old solutions for this problem. Upon my research I was reintroduced to Madam CJ Walker. This lady bassically started the haircare industry. She was also the first 'black' female millionaire. She did much research and came up with a formula that has been working for people since the early 1900's. Her products are still sold today. A simple google search of ' Madam CJ Walker' should lead you to her sight where the products are available.

I have not used the Madam CJ Walker products due to lack of funds, but I did make my own topical formula based on the ingredients Madam Walker used.

Beeswax

Petrolatum (Vaseline) petroleum jelly

Coconut Oil (olive, canola, jojoba, seasame, or mineral oil can be used as well)

Copper sulfate

Cumcumber juice

Not sure about what amounts to use for all ingredients, but a 50/50 mix of beeswax and petroleum is agood base to start with. I added the cumcumber because of it's anti inflammatory properties and because females like the smell.

I already had these ingredients and that's why I am using these. She also used precipitated sulfur.

Apply your formula daily or as needed and be sure to wash your hair 1 to 2 times per week. I will wash once a week.

I would also try to get my vitamins A & E from a raw food source. This way you could attack from too different angles.

I will start my regimen and report back...I hope this helps somebody.

Please excuse any typo's I may have made I'm on my PS3.

Peace, Paz

Except for brittle, curly and thin hair, that started to fall out, I also had burning feet for about two weeks. And knob cheese. I hadent had knob cheese for 15 years and now Iv hade it for two years straight. This all happened after quitting b5.

The burning feet and hairloss could be a sign of b5 deficiency. And the knob cheese Im sure is related to the megadosing somehow.

Has anybody had the same problems? (except for the hairloss that we all have)

Did your hair get curly?

Has anybody checked their b5 values, are they high or low?

An update on my current hairloss: Im still losing hair but its happening pretty slowly but defintely noticable. On minoxidil still, I dare not take finasterid (altough its prob better).

Weve messed up our "system" with the megadosing. For a while I thought that my body might be needing more b5 than a normal person because I hade been megadosing for so long. I started taking b5 again but quickly chickened out so that mad theory hasent been tested properly.

Im gonna call and order a meeting with the doctor myself soon, so I can explain better how the situation is. Will keep this thread updated whenever ive done it.

Hi mate there the exact same tests I took aswell and they also came back fine, so I'm guessing we defrost need to get tested for dht, adrenal gland and thyroid. One of these must be the answer were all looking for. Good stuff tho mate and keep us all posted.

Itsoveryes what is your current situation and regimen? Is the hair loss still stopped? Any regrowth?

I have started using Kerastase Densifique. Have only used it for 9 days, so too early to say anything on that, even though my hopes aren't high.

Interesting stuff Churchill I was very close to buying kerastase but the price put me off, how much did you pay? It was around 300 when it first came out. Definitely keep us updated with this, it supposedly can regrow around 3000 hairs I think.

Well I've come to realize all the problems/symptoms I've been experiencing (including hair loss) are due to dry skin/dry everything. Oil production slowed down considerably (was very welcomed) while I was on b5 but for whatever reason it continued to dry me out until my scalp dried out and caused hair follicles to dry up as well. Strange thing is why it's still dry after 5 months without any b5. My only guess is that it took time to shrink pores and stop oil and it will take time to reverse (hopefully) the effects. I'm concentrated my efforts on moisturizing and treating dry scalp. If any of you are experiencing dry skin and/or dandruff accompanied by hair loss I suspect the same thing is happening to you. I cut my hair very short to minimize the appearance of hair loss and it makes it easier to manage scalp by oiling it and applying product. I'm off the minox. because even if it does help with growth, it will just fall out again because the scalp and root is dry.

Good luck y'all

Hello!

After reading through every thread regarding B5 hair loss, I have finally mustered up the courage to post here myself.

I'd like to tell you about my case.

I'm almost 18 and this whole hair loss thing really gets to me.

In October 2013 I started taking B5. I started on a low dose and gradually made my way up to 10g a day.

I noticed increased shedding after 1 and a half weeks of taking B5 and immediately stopped.

At that time I was also going through a lot of psychological stress due to my acne and I lost a lot weight while I was sick and only ate soup for two weeks. I have read that psychological stress and crash dieting/sudden weight loss can cause Telogen Effluvium so I was convinced I had that.

The shedding then continued and gradually got worse. During this time I took Iron, Vitamin B-Complex, Zinc, Copper and Omega-3 supplements to improve my health.

I would say the hair loss is pretty diffuse but is more noticeable on the hairline and top of head as those areas naturally have less hair.

All the hairs have the tiny bulb on them and most of them are long telogen hairs. I also lose a lot of shorter, "new" hair though but I have read that it is possible to lose short hair during TE because your hair cycles through multiple growth cycles and takes some time to get back on track.

It now seems like the hair loss has somewhat decreased but I still am losing some hair. These past 2/3 months I have also had a severe itch on my hairline and scalp. I also have dandruff and flakes which I never had before. (Could this mean dry scalp, psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis?)

The hair on the sides and back of my head is still pretty full however I have bitemporal recession and thinning of the hair on top.

I've had a blood test done two weeks ago. My iron and ferritin levels were on the very low end of the normal range despite me taking iron supplements. My TSH was 3.13, slightly elevated but still in the normal range.

In 3 weeks I have an appointment with a dermatologist and I'll ask him about scalp psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis and other scalp conditions. Might get a scalp biopsy done as well.

I also have an appointment with an endocrinologist in a few weeks and I'll get my thyroid, adrenal and iron levels fully checked then.

I also noticed that I have dry skin everywhere on the body. Could this be related?

I hope the hair loss is not permanent and am interested to hear your opinions.

I hope someone can help me

Regards, Michael

Edit:

I also have some pretty decent regrowth. I have short hair all over my hairline and scalp and since around 2 weeks a 0.5cm line of very short, tiny white hairs has popped up just below my hairline.

Is this a sign of recovery?

By the way, my moderate cystic acne which used to haunt me has almost totally cleared. I only use a facial cleanser, no moisturizer, no BPO, no creams, nothing. I eat whatever I want, sweat like a pig and I get like one whitehead a week if I'm unlucky.

A few months ago I just had to look at dairy and sugar to get a breakout. Funny how life goes, eh?

Man idk after reading all this it seems like b5 kind of jump starts MPB. Maybe if you have the MPB gene or prone to baldness this kind of like puts it in gear.... Thats the only thing i can think of... b5 hairloss is like an internet phenonium right now.

Mhm that doesn't sound very encouraging. I always used to have really nice, thick hair and now I have the hairline of a 50 year old.

My father, who is 49, still has a full head of hair so I don't think I have the MPB gene.

I just hope that I haven't ruined the rest of my life because I took Vitamin B5 for just one and a half weeks.

Hi. Don't want to get your hopes down, but I have the exact same symptoms as you.

My hair loss started after 10 days on pantethine, and has not stopped or slowed down for just about 2 years now. My hair loss is also diffuse, but worst at the hairline and top of the scalp, which is also very itchy. I have had lots of blood tests done, all within the normal range. Have tried a lot of different treatments, but nothing has worked so far, so still hoping for a miracle.

I would say I probably have 25% of my hair left. Luckily I had very thick hair to begin with, so not completely bald yet. Does anyone know of someone going completely bald from this?

Hi, thanks for your input! That doesn't sound very encouraging haha.

Have you been to a dermatologist and ruled out MPB? How much B5 did you take? Did you take Fin or Minox?

I'm remaining hopeful as I'm already seeing some regrowth and a hairdresser recently commented that I had a lot of hair.

My hair also feels a lot thicker and healthier now than it used to these past few months.

I bought some Nizoral today as I heard it reduces the itch and is good for hair loss. I'll use that 3x a week and the rest of the time I'll use Alpecin C1 caffeine shampoo. I really hope this is either TE or due to scalp issues, iron deficiency, depression or hyperactive thyroid and not something permanent. I'll keep you guys posted

Yes, have been to a dermatologist that ruled out MPB. For the same reason she would not prescribe Fin. I am currently on Minox which have not given any results so far. I am also using Nizoral. But sounds like your are luckier than me, so maybe you don't have to worry.

I didn't take any B5, only pantethine (a B5 derivative), where you don't have to overdose like on B5. I took 900 mg's pr day which is within the recommended daily amount of 300-1200 mg's. This makes it even harder to believe how it could screw my system over like this.

Where did you get this info from? The recommended daily intake of both pantothenic acid and pantethine is 5-10 mg. Just because there has been clinical trials to treat high cholesterol with doses ranging from 300 to 1200 mg daily, doesn't mean it's recommended and without possible side effects.

Sorry my English is not that good, yes I just meant what was suggested by the manufacturers and at http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-1061-PANTETHINE.aspx?activeIngredientId=1061&activeIngredientName=PANTETHINE.
