Illegal...but it reminds me of the boondock saints. Might not be the best way to spread the word about GMO's, and it does affect the farmers livelihood...so there is definitely alot of controversy packed into this incident. I can see where advocates of organic crops would be upset by this because it's not the best way of fighting GMO and Monsanto. But on the other hand, there are so many stories of entire fields being burnt in order to get rid of the plague that is GMO crops. Those may have been government authorized though.

Also farmers are much worse off using 'biotech' crops because they have to pay royalties and Monsanto practically owns them and their field. Not to mention the herbicides they have to purchase which crops are now becoming resistant to. Hence why agent orange corn is going to be introduced using the same defoliant that was used in vietnam

The spraying of pesticides by Syngenta near Waimea Canyon Middle school has been suspected in causing children and teachers to become sick on several occasions between 2006 and 2008. In one incident at least 10 children collapsed and were sent to the hospital.An investigation was launched to find out why. Syngenta has denied that their spraying of pesticides was the culprit. Whole Foods has openly stated that they sell GM foods; where am I supposed to shop?! Is it ONLY Whole Foods (and Kroger, Safeway, Walmart etc) or do we know if this applies to ALL stores, both 'organic' and not? Not even being facetious here, but I look at corn with horror now...whether I'm at the farmers market or at the local corner grocery store. I am also scared to eat any meat or poultry, let alone the grains those animals consume. I am developing severe phobias of entire food groups and finding myself not eating at all, if faced with a questionable food. This is a new form of disordered eating.

Look for the Non GMO Project Verified symbol on the packaging. And when it's possible, purchase foods labeled organic. Many food items i've seen at whole foods have both symbols, which is even better.

But yes, when i first learned about GMO's a little over a year ago, i ate organic, non GMO blue corn chips for like a week and that was it. Cause i was so scared to learn about all the shit that i'd been eating over the years. But now i've discovered a whole host of foods that are labeled with the non GMO Project Verified/Organic label.

This genetic engineering is the single most dangerous/corrupt event involving food in the history of this planet. And since this is the only planet we and our future children will have....we really have to spread the word about this or we will be irreversibly fucked.

Whom is responsible for the regulatory standards for NON GMO foods in our grocery stores? The FDA? (Ha!) Yes, it's the FDA. And also individual states have passed laws forbidding local laws requiring GM labels. I don't know what you mean by the Non GMO label being bullshit. False labeling is illegal.

And not buying boxed and bagged processed foods is a great way to avoid most GM foods.

The FDA is not independent of Big Ag, hence my statement, "I am under the impression that the NON GMO label is bullshit".

The Non-GMO Project Verified label isn't given by the FDA. It's a non-profit organization, and companies want their label to appeal to those who are aware of the crap that is making it's way into our food. At least this is how it is currently
