Scorpion Vixen,
If I tried to convince you of anything it would be a waste of time and a drain of energy, because no mind can compete with another mind that's already made up.
LOL, how true a statement that is. It works for many of life's situations too. Energy is so wasted on the young 😉
My mind is only made up because you continuously make points and don't back any of them up with evidence. And, when asked to back them up, you simply make an excuse like, "Well... I don't have the energy!"
I'm not asking for you to write a thesis -- one little link to anywhere (besides your online diary) claiming this would be nice.
But if you can't find it, it's ok. I forgive your inability to use precendent knowledge in the medical field.
Scorpion Vixen,
Don't you just love how we have to provide proof, and most of us do, but the skeptics and the hard core "science" people (and I'm one of them but learned to think past the "box"), usually don't "bother" to provide their scientific peer-reviewed clinical studies.
Yes SweetJade...
I just know that providing additional links than what I have already provided, and searching farther and deeper to prove a point will never be good enough for people who feel they already have all the answers. Personally, I don't care what they believe. I have better things to do with my time than tie it up into useless debates. I know what works for me, what has cleared me up, and I have seen these natural and alternative methods bring success and healing to those who traditional western medicine has failed. That's enough for me, it isn't enough for everyone... and that's okay. We all have our own road to China so to speak.
I admire your grasp of science and have been reading your posts for several years now. They are amazing, and I would never have the stamina to dig as deep into the textbooks as you do. I am more right brained, intuitive and experimental.. I listen to what my body tells me and I see how it responds when I treat it a certain way. That is a different type of intelligence than what western medicine promotes, but I love how you seem to have a grasp of both sides of the brain and both ways of thinking. You break down the walls of the box and combine research to reach new conclusions that break the mold on where western science has gone, speaking their language and using their doctrines. Seriously. You are awesome.

See, the issue though is that el Scorpio hasn't provided evidence. She has simply claimed that water dillutes enzymes without a SINGLE piece of evidence. It's not me saying, "Oh... that's not recent enough in a science journal." She simply hasn't provided anything but what seems to be her "logic" thinking into the human body. That is not evidence but BS theorizing.
And I don't give you textbook evidence becasue the established scientific community has better debates to take part in than with people who create theories on Acne.org.
i think the soy milk alone is definitely ok, but im not sure about the soy milk with a protein supplement, i would think its ok as well, im getting ready to add protein shakes to my diet, so ill be able to let ya know soon. but honestly, if you are drinking the protein drink far apart from the time you eat solid food, i would think you would be ok
I've been doing this for approximately two days now. However, unlike yours my acne doesn't consist of large spots, it is more pimply. I have actually noticed an improvement though, my cheeks do seem slightly smoother. Not much change on my forehead though. I will persevere though because you can't really expect a dramatic difference in two days can you?
My eating/drinking pattern so far has consisted of leaving about an hour and a half to two hours before drinking after eating, and not drinking at least an hour before eating. Is this ok? I'm 19 years old and working at the moment so its difficult to keep the schedule that rigd cuz its would end up ruling your life wouldn't it?
Hi sadcaroline...i've been following your thread since you first posted. I decided try out the no liquids for an hour after meals for two weeks now. So far so good. I noticed that i don't break out with my normal cysts anymore. However, a bunch of tiny whiteheads are popping up all over my face. I know in your previous thread you said this also happened to you. I was wondering if you are still having white head breakouts or did they subside? Also, thank you for helping others by sharing and passing on what you have learned. It is appreciated Take care and keep us posted!
Question: Going on this science discussion...
Do you think this will ever be proven scientifically without being part of the pharmaceutical research community? I'm a news junkie (former journalist and constant skeptic) and it seems that most research papers/studies are based upon drugs that make these companies money. For example: the recent snafu at the New England Journal of Medicine on study parameters provided by the pharmaceuticals to prove their drug did better in studies. (NPR 2 wks ago--can't remember the company or drug.)
Alternative medicine/holistic healing is growing each year (look at the growth of the company Whole Foods) but it still isn't in the mainstream and most doctors don't think outside of their MD/DO training. (Personal experience with my PCP/internist, OB, Allergist and Derm -- four out of four.)
Maybe there's something to this alternative approach and someone will do a study. Hey, think of all the news lately about hormones in chicken, beef and milk/cheese. This is now all over the news and I'm finding it easier to find hormone free products at mainstream supermarkets.
Any thoughts on this? Am I totally in left field?
partygirl- what you are doing is great, thats plenty of time
namisop- i still have a few tiny pimples, some are so small that they dont even get red, they stay like flesh colored. but this water thing has brought me so close to 100% clear, im now testing supplements to get rid of the 5-6 tiny pimples i usually have. right now im trying flaxseed oil with evening primrose oil, a b complex with zinc included, and just recently added glucomanan (i am badly insulin resistant) sadly the water didnt clear me 100% but its made such a dramatic improvement, that im positive with the right supplements, ill be 100% clear soon, because all i have now is very very minor 🙂 ill post the exact supplement regimen if it gets me 100% soon
bchnyc- honestly i dont think anyone that has anything to do with pharmaceuticals will ever do a study on anything holistic, reason being is because a hell of alot of it truly works. And if they did this study, and people found out all along that safer, natural treatments were working even better than their *gasps* prescriptions, then just think how much money the medical industry would lose. If studies get done on these sort of things, it will probably be done by independant groups . good question!
Scorpion Vixen,
Wow, thank you. Those are some very kind words for you to say. =) Say, how is spiro taking care of you? What supplments are you taking?
Sadcaroline,
We used to talk about an acne camp on another message board. At this camp we dreamed we would have a lot of different specialits and nutritionists, etc so that we could monitor people's diets, blood work, etc. We used talk about something called the "acne institute" where we would do all that hard core acne research from the money we made from the camp. Or something like that 😉 Perhaps one day...
Take care
What about apples, oranges etc with lots of juice inside them, are they safe to eat with normal food?
I'm starting to think this is all bullshit. I've been doing this for a week now and I still look the same. I'll go for one more week though, and if nothing happens, i'm going to eat whatever the fuck I want, whenever the fuck I want, because changing my diet has only made me feel worse.
I've just been eating whatever the hell i like and just following your pattern of the eating/drinking regime and leaving time after meals before you drink etc. To be honest, I've tried changing my diet completely before and it hasn't lasted long. I just feel too restricted and like I'm not living my life if you know what i mean? I am trying to eat more healthily but if i want some chocolate i will have it, everything in moderation.
Well to be honest sad caroline, I haven't really noticed results yet. But I'm still persevering because I've only been doing this for three days! I'm bearing in mind that some of the pimples are still there because they were there before I started this but hopefully this will prevent new stuff from breaking out. I have broken the rules on a couple of occasions by having a couple of extremely small snacks while I've still been drinking such as a sweet or two lol.
That's great if that worked for you! Unfortunately for me, no diet stuff ever seems to affect my skin. I never drink with my meals (I probably don't drink enough in general) and never drink within 30 minutes after or before, either. No change here. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
I'm in the same boat as you Uncle Buck. I've had acne about 4 years now (I'll be 18 in December) and since age 16 or so I've cut out products high in sugar and fat, and more recently I've started cutting back on breads, pastas, etc., and drinking more water (I've actually done Caroline's water approach the last 2 days and will probably do it for the rest of the week). I've been on the Regimen since March, and I guess it's helped my skin, but I'm still far from completely clear and I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever be clear, thus pondering whether or not I should not worry about my diet anymore. I'm still going to stay away from fast food, pizza, candy, soft drinks and the like, but fuck it, I'm going to eat bread and pasta if I want it. BTW, the Nintendo DS is going to kick ass, I just hope it comes out in the US this year.
I've been doing this for five days now and haven't noticed an improvement with the acne but i will carry on for a little while longer.
However.....I have noticed it makes me less hungry. Normally I get cravings for fatty and sugary foods in the evenings but now I'm just not hungry at night. I certainly haven't got a weight problem whatsoever but this can't be a bad thing!
for me its not the diet, right now im off the diet. and the other day i decided to try reducing the time after i ate.. and i only waited like an hour or so.. and sure enough, i began to get a breakout. an once i began doing the water regimen again strictly i started clearing up again. from what ive learned from having acne, different things help different people. for me, diet doesnt help. but stuff like b5 an the water thing work awesome. but everyones different.
