Well im just over a week in, The first week was amazing. The good part so far about this regimen is the areas that i usually get acne in (chin and above upper lip ) have been soo clear, and i expected a breakout by now in those areas. Bad news, i got a cyst on my cheek that formed like 4 days ago, the only real spot though. I think this cyst may have been in its development stages before i started this regimen, so im not gonna lose my faith. But in general just leaving the really tiny zits that would pop up and were barely noticible alone, they would dry up in a day and be gone. This has been my favorite regimen so far, but the MAIN rule is to not pick at existing acne because this will totally ruin everyting.

Ok, so i didn't have time to read through the whole thread so i'm not sure if this has been asked before but here goes:

How is it possible to follow this "not washing your face (too often?)" regime if your acne is so bad that you cannot leave the house without wearing makeup? :S

Though some members have taken this theory all the way, I can't stand the idea of putting make-up or sunscreen on a dirty face. Just seems wrong somehow.

Ideally, I wash my face once a day. During my morning shower I do the baby brush method with salt water.

On days that I put on sunscreen or wear make-up, I wash it off immediately when I come home with a gentle cleanser. I use Purpose.

If you wear make-up every day, it will be hard to follow this regimen. But perhaps you could give your face a break on weekends when you don't go out. I imagine the point is to irritate your face as little as possible.

i've been doing the no water method for months. it still leads to breakouts, thats probably because my acne is hormonal. i think a combination of no water, low GI diet, exercise, is the best thing you can do. and no milk

to anyone that has skin that has recovered from topicals, i would recommend just shaving with a two blade razor every other day. Ive been trying to use an electric razor and its just too much of a pain in the ass anymore, leads to alot of touch-up jobs and further irritation. Im just gonna shave once every 2-3 days and just not touch my face anyother time for the next week or so and see what happens.

you get used to the electric after some time. I have been using mine for 3 years and will never go back to using a regular razor, they ripped up my face.

i agree with Ratsoff switching to an electric razor was a great decision for me. It's not considered a traditional razor though...I think it's made to touch up sideburns and stuff. Here's a pic of it....

ok i think i been doing this for about 10 days now. I dont have severe dead skin mask maybe not yet, maybe because used emu oil and water regimen before that. I got to say that exfoliating is so over rated and it should be forbidden. I think a lot of acne sufferers take exfoliating for granted meaning that you have to do it. big mistake because one u start doing this u entering into cycle when u have to do it consistently and it becomes problem. I talked to my friends they have good skin and all they do is just use water that it.

Over these 10 days i still have break outs but whats important i think my eczema that i was not able to deal with for like 8 month developed a skin layer over it, so maybe it will start to heal, I am hoping. Does any one else has experience with this regimen and eczema or any type of skin rashes?

I definitely have to include exercising into this regime and cold showers.

I terms of food, this is the best part of these regimen is that i am not that selective as used to before. Which is a great relief being able eat cheese and yogurt. This feeling of not being concerned too much of type of food u need is great. I still dont eat junk food just becasue poor nutritional value

I feel sorry for the girls cuz it would be so much harder for them to do it.

I was actually contemplating going to the cottage for like a month and just being in isolation and focus on working out and staff and see what it would of done to me.

I don't see why everyone feels bad for girls on this regimen. No one is forcing you to wear makeup. Sorry if that seems a little rude but that's how I feel.

Anyway, I am showering once a day with water only and it's doing well right now. I had a big breakout earlier this week but that was my own fault and it's healing up nicely.

I want to take back his statement. IMO, this is the most worthwhile way to free girls from acne and makeup. It just needs a little more dedication for girls.

I'm a girl and I figure I'll try not washing in the morning. Just wash the makeup off at night and then not wash in the shower in the morning. I'm also thinking maybe this summer when I tan and don't wear any foundation anyway, maybe then I'll try the no wash technique. I'll just wear eye makeup and carefully remove that each night.

Just a thought.

i like that thought troop.

In fact i like it alot. I was on a regimen that worked for awhile but like most regimens i start, it quit working a few days ago...or maybe i'm just paranoid. I dunno. But here is an experiment for ya boys. I'm going to stop my current regimen for awhile and see how your water/caveman or in this case cave woman regimen goes. So sorry wexler regimen, im putting you on pause to try this one. If i dont see an improvment in hmmmm lets say 10 days from the water/caveman reg I'm going back to my wexler acne regimen.

i washed my face for the last time tonight and, well, who knows when i will wash it next? I am taking on this challenge. And yea dont forget im a girl.

Note* I have to wear eyemakeup. Mascara eyeliner and undereye concealer. I will wash this off with a washcloth everynight before bed being careful not to get my face wet, just my eyes. As the girl above suggested.

As for the concealer, foundation, blush ect ect I wont wear this at all for the ten days. I have a law school ball I have to attend on day 10 so i will have to wear makeup on my face. If, by then, the cavewoman(lol) regimen works i will wash it off with a gentle cleanser and continue the cavewoman regimen.

If no tho, I will start the wexler acne system up again on day 11.

Thanks for your time peoples.

@Toop

Well, that is a start. But don't expect any magic to happen overnight. This time it will be the body that will be working to solve your problem and it takes time to do so. Especially when it keeps receiving "crap chemicals" inside out and your makeup is filled with them. I'll be looking forward to your summer though because that is where the real challenge begins. ;)

@Eyes

I read your log and I'm sorry that you went through another breakout.

Here's what I have to say, if your place is hot right now and if you experience oiliness hours later after you wash your face then you will experience oil slick for the next couple of days. If that happens then you won't have any further breakout but will have clogged pores that is not noticeable for other people anyway so don't bother. If all those happens, then around 5th-7th day dead skin will start to build up to renew skin underneath them. It'd be the worse that will last up to 30days but may be longer. If you make it past that then you'd be free of acne for the rest of your life as long as you live healthy. But you will still have some spots form here and there from time to time, the good thing is that they don't last long and will be smaller in size and the best part is that they don't leave red marks at all.

Now, with your 10 days experiment, you might experience good times in the next 3-4 days but after that is the hard times. I guess you'll be back to wexler acne regimen after your 10 days.

Now, to help you out. Eat an apple or two in the morning. Have sun exposure for about 5-15mins everyday. Whenever it starts to burn, you should stop because this is meant to be good and fun. Do exercise like brisk walking, jogging or jumping rope. Continue your healthy diet.

Another thing, about your current break out. This regimen won't clear them out but should not aggravate it too. So it would be like a stalemate on your current breakout. If you want them to disappear then I suggest turmeric root juice as spot treatment.

@All who want to try this

I hope we can do something like a doctor-patient talk to ensure you are in the right track.

well I awkoe this morning and my face isnt oily at all.....which is weird. It feels clean but not dry just normal.

I have a couple of questions that im sure have been answered somewhere in the previous 7832526758784723 pages of this thread, but im lazy. I guess maybe this would be a good regimen for me lol.

ok why will there be a dead skin buildup? That just doesnt seem to make sense to me. If you are getting oily skin due to not washing why would there be dry skin? And why would it last for a month. If I make it to the mask point I shouldn't scrape off the flakes correct? ANd is it that noticable or will i look like a shedding snake??

I do excersize and drink alot of water but its kinda cold where i live right now. However I need to strart going to a tanning bed starting today. Like I said I have a ball in 10 days and i am pasty white, almost purple. I just want some color. I was going to just self tan with a daily lotion but that would involve me putting self tanner lotion on my face and I dont want to do that b/c it would ruin my caveman experiment. Would a tanning bed be a better choice? Yeah yeah i know cancer and stuff but im only going a couple times.

Also, this isnt really a question but I just want to let you know that this is taking huge balls for me to do! I never leave my house without foundation! Girls have it so hard. I will be working and everything without concealer covering up my blotchy red marks. This is going to be really hard for me as a girl. Just want everyone to know that.

Yeah, you got balls than most of the people out there. ;)

The oiliness will come during the day while your up but will disappear every morning when you woke up. It's magic!

We don't have any scientific explanation here but we have our different POVs. Mine is that it's like a protection of your new skin forming below. Think of it as a scab on a wound. It takes 27 days to renew skin. If you have a more damaged skin and if you interfere then it will take more time.

The mask won't be noticeable unless you wet your face. Some flakes would be loose, other fall off. If the flake is not sticking to the skin anymore then you can gently pull them off.

I'd go for the tanning bed. Let me know if you are experiencing oiliness during the day.

hi all. i just discovered something quite important. apparently tap water is causing my acne. when i was on this regimen(and still is), i was still getting acnes so i thought it was hormones. so i went on to change my eating habit and stuff and no effect. the next day, i accidentally spilt water on my face when i was showering. then the next day, i immediately had two acnes on exact the spot where the water touched. without going anywhere near tap water, after a week which is now, i can honestly say that my face is clear. still i have red spots and u know some aftermath of pimples and acnes and BIG TIME DEAD SKIN but keep going to toward this direction. i know i'll be completely clear soon.

now i'm using filtered glacier water that i pick up near safeway to shower, wash hands, drink..etc. i think if u touch tap water with ur hands there is still a chance an acne will end up on ur face somehow. or when u brush ur teeth using tap water to rinse. so i'm not even touching tap water anymore. i always thought there is something wrong with tap water. everytime i shower or wash my hands, my skin always itch afterward. my hands gets super dry too. filtered water doesn't cause any of that. if u think somehow tap water is causing ur acne or some strange problems, stop using it and then try filtered water.

EDIT : i'm on day 38 right now, and yesterday was the first day i poured water on my face. i used filtered water like i said. and today i'm still clear. YEAH. and also, my body acne died down a lot. i only have 1 active acne on my chest. my body skin is smooth like baby. it seems like my body is returning to normal. i think my acne skin is caused by the prolonged usage of tap water and chemical and CLEANSER. yet people are still washing their faces. stop washing keeps u away from tap water.

i get it from glacier vending machines. like these. u can find them next to safeway.

even if u are not on caveman regimen. i think it would be healthy to stop consuming or washing ur body or hands with tap water. notice i always use the word "THINK" because there's apparently no proof to what i said. it's all just observation.
