I think this is pretty much the reason for most of my problems.

I developed hirsutism a year or two ago, and I never knew this before but apparently estrogen dominance/ progesterone deficiency can cause hirsutism!

So adrenal fatigue, plus excess/bad estrogens from the environment, can both cause progesterone deficiency... which can cause acne, hirsutism, insomnia, anxiety/depression..... all of which I have.

Edit: Oh, and menstrual cramps! I get SEVERE cramps, and that can be a symptom too.

There is so much info out there if you google "adrenal glands acne".

One thing i read was a medical site that says you must detirmine WHAT is the cause of the excess androgen production: Is it the ovaries or the adrenal glands.

According to the article, the ovaries produce almost half of the androgens. There is a treatment for women... a surgery which punctures the ovaries 12 times...and the amount of androgens drops very low within days.

"In most instances, acne results from the overactivity of sebaceous (oil) glands. This overactivity of the sebaceous glands usually results from either the presence of excessive amounts of male sex hormones (androgens) or an increased response (sensitivity) of the sebaceous glands to normal levels of male sex hormones. It should be noted that male sex hormones are present in both males and females. One approach to the treatment of male hormone-dependent acne is to lower the levels of male hormone production. For this diagnosis, it is important to establish the presence of excessive male sex hormone production, the cause of its excess and the site of its production. This is done by simple blood tests for testosterone, free testosterone, and adrenal hormones such as DHEAS (dihydroepiandrostene sulfate) and perhaps 17-OHP (17 hydroxyprogesterone). There is also a form of excess male hormones associated with insulin resistance-- a new disorder currently under intense investigation.

I know a lot of people have mentioned that they have anxiety/depression... Do any of you guys have panic attacks? I've had them since I was in highschool, but I've been a generally anxious person for as long as I can remember. I go through periods where I'll have a panic attack every day at work. It's awful. One minute I'll be totally fine and the next I'll get a TERRIBLE rush of adrenaline and feel like I'm going to pass out/throw up/etc. They usually last between five and twenty minutes.

I'm pretty sure this puts me in the "adrenally fatigued" category.

But Dotty, I don't think it's excess androgens that are the problem (not for me anyway). It's that the adrenals produce too much cortisol, which lowers progesterone production... and that causes all kinds of problems.

Right! I posted this a while back. You can see how things compete. You have to forget estrogen and progesterone and clean up all the cortisol. You have to lower it, not just find a way to artificially raise everything else. If you don't lower it, your adrenal will lose its ability to do anything right.

LMAO I just read that on Mercola and thought about making somthing like this. It seems stemming from this problem causes Estrogen dominance, thus no need for DIM and the likes. Worth addressing for sure, tbh its not that hard to do.

I don't think anyone has mentioned salt. Simply take a pinch of sea salt in glass of water.

Are there any supplements besides DIM/I3C that help get rid of bad estrogen? I mean, restoring proper adrenal function and using progesterone cream will fight estrogen dominance by raising progesterone, but it won't change the 2-OH estrone/16-OH-estrone ratio, will it??

Edit: I found a few...

Milk thistle enhances detoxification of toxic estrogens from the liver.

Rosemary extract, a potent antioxidant, inhibits abnormal cell growth, and it helps to detoxify carcinogenic estrogens.

Sulfurophane, from broccoli sprout extract, has been shown to stimulate the bodys production of detoxification enzymes that eliminate harmful xenoestrogens.

So the last couple of days, I have been getting to sleep much earlier and stressing less, and I took vitamin C once (about 1000 mg), and all of the acne that I had is rapidly disappearing. I had a few big spots that were there for at least a week or two and just wouldn't budge, and they've flattened out.

Flax lignans

Soya Isoflavones

Both of the increase the good and lower the bad.
