I am thinking of decreasing carbs... and a bit of protein.. and go very high on vegetables.
Because I am going to work as a part-time soon.. which I will only make $100-150 a week.
I want to at least save 50$ a week..
So I am going pure vegetable. hope that's OK! Mostly green smoothie
i have just made my first one. think its gna take a while for me to perfect it because it was horrible but i forced it down.
1 green apple, 1 banana, 1 passion fruit, 1 handfull mixed berries, 2 handfulls spinach, large piece of ginger and 2 glasses water
the berries and ginger will be getting swerved next time! im on accutane aswell for another 3 months but everything iv read in this topic seems to make sense so why not hey!

does not sound bad.. do you have a good blender? 😛 If so... try cutting out the ginger
Eddie, If your worried about saving money buy good cheap sources of protein like chicken fish and meat, not too expensive, cut out protein powders dude no need for them but if you want try get a brocolli or pea one which is much cheaper, healthier and has the same protein which is a higher qaulity protein.

Thanks. I will try pea from www.trueprotein.com ;P
Waiting until I get fired... ha ha.
Then I will start buying cheap healthy foods.
Yeah I was looking at that it looks good!!
Tell me your results
Also what kind of carbs are you buying because stuff like oats, rolled or steel cut are exactly the same but steel cut or more expensive so buy rolled.
sweet potatoes, quinoa, brown rice and 100% wholewheat sprouted pasta are all fairly cheap.
hesitation,
If you have acne, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, a medical doctor I highly respect, recommends no more than 2 ounces of nuts/seeds at one time. Too many oils at once can contribute to acne. It doesn't seem to be a problem for you though, so I'd say just dismiss that!
Eddie,
I'm glad you're doing so well! Just doing veggie smoothies for a while is fine! It's definitely good to get some fruit daily as well, so maybe you can add it back in soon.
g2e,
Have your smoothies gotten any better? It can take a while at first to find what works for you. Maybe try a more simple recipe with less ingredients, and you might leave out the ginger unless you're doing a vegetable based smoothie with some lemon thrown in. Good luck!
MJ.23,
haha, well what's great about green smoothies is that because it's all blended, you get four times the amount of nutrition! Woohoo!! They're also fast and easy to make and drink, which makes getting your fruits and veggies easy. Also, for you can eat your greens without having to add salad dressing.

Thanks! I actually need protein. 😛
Beans,lentils, nuts, what else? 😛
I hope I am fine with nuts/seeds. 😛
I will be applying for UPS soon which I will make so less compared to my current job... I have to do this for my future.. I am doing bad in college.. and I hardly have time for myself. 🙁
I stress too much...
So I want to spend at least $50-60 a week.. even though that might not be enough for bodybuilding. I don't want to grow anyway.. 😛 so I will be fine ^^ I will be ripped !

Sounds good, I am going to increase the intake to twice a day soon. I will get some fruit daily^_^
Also, I will be adding beans, and nuts/seeds. NOMORE whey protein isolate after this one. :D:D
I will just get pea powder, or brown rice powder. I hope these are OK.

ye the ginger was definately an overpowering flavour so i will be cutting that out next time. im really into cooking so am gna experiment an see what i can make! the passion fruit definately added a nice flavour. next one im thinking is mango, pineapple, passion fruit, one of the milder green leaves (prob gem lettuce) and water. oh and the blender is decent, made it into a nice consistency, just went a bit too far with the ingredients ha

iv only tried one up to now but when iv used up these ingredients then im going to try out mango, pineapple, passion fruit, gem lettuce or another mild tasting green leaf and water! im determined to get ginger into a smoothy tho because i love it an it goes really well with deserts so im sure there will be a way ha. thinking of lightly cooking it in olive oil and honey first!
Eddie,
I so hope the UPS job works out for you!!! Really glad you'll have more time for college. I don't know about pea powder or brown rice powder, but neither sounds necessary. Do you like sunflower seeds? They are cheap, delicious, highly nutritious, and an excellent form of protein.
g2e,
Glad you're going to keep experimenting!! There are some veggie-based smoothie recipes on the first page using apples/pears and lemon juice in which ginger tastes great in. Let us know what you come up with!
Yeah Eddie i get a good amount of protein from sources such as; some meat, pumpkin seeds, almonds, almond butter, wholegrain basmati rice, chickpeas, apples, organice natural goats yogurtand loads of different types of wholegrains.
I think its best to avoid stuff like weight gainers, because its not natural you know igf you want muscle eat loads and get good prper sources of protein when working out. Chickpeas are nearly a perfect protein and when combined with brown rice it is an amazing source amino acidas and protein which is brilliant for building muscle.
Does anyone know if it's a good idea to use chunky coconut milk? I think chunky doesn't necessarily mean it's bad since the taste was exactly the same.
Also, how long do you wash your veggies for? I usually let them soak for 5 minutes and then rinse. I wonder if it gets rid of all the chemicals.
kforkate,
Glad your first smoothie went so well! The more you make, the more you'll discover what flavor combos you really like. Keep it up!!
hesitation,
That coconut milk sounds like it might be a little spoiled?
AdamDolce10,
So glad you get your protein from real food rather than protein shakes!
Has anyone tried green powders (sold in supplement sections of natural food stores)??
I am thinking of trying Green Vibrance
http://www.vibranthealth.us/?p2=/modules/v...amp;category=52
You can check it out there, but don't buy it from them. You can find it much cheaper...
I don't think any powder could replace a freshly made green smoothie, but this green vibrance stuff has probiotics in it and I could add it to a smoothie instead of taking a pill! I am soooo sick of taking pills! If I'm going to continue with a probiotic, why not take one with a dose of grasses and vegetables included?!?! Even if those things don't stop acne from forming, they must help the healing process.
If you're interested don't let that price scare you. Go look in your natural foods store - it shouldn't cost anywhere near the prices on the website.
I have heard wonderful things about that powder, and in checking it out, it does sound like an excellent product! I agree that it shouldn't replace fresh greens, but I think adding it could be a great idea! I think alternating supplements, not taking them everyday, etc. is a good idea. As with food, variety is always good.
