I'm gonna make a smoothie after a long time... Here's what I've got at home right now that I could use: broccoli, different kinds of cabbage, spinach, cucumber, pasley, some other green leafy veggies meant for salads, strawberries, apples (granny smith and some red ones), bananas, kiwis, coconut milk.

Should I just throw them all in?

Mixing is good 😛 but heck, that's a lot!

Eddie,

Haha, thanks, but I've seen a lot of recipes/ideas posted here that are much more creative than the smoothies I make! I think I could learn a lot from watching all of YOU! :)

hesitation,

If you're needing to use all that stuff up, I don't see a problem with mixing it all in. My mom makes smoothies with a gazillion ingredients, LOL. They don't taste as good to me as say a spinach, banana, cocoa smoothie, but they're at least drinkable.... and very healthy with so much variety! haha :D

I use a lot of different stuffs at the same time, I usually throw in spinach, mixed greens, romaine lettuce, cabbage, blackberries, blueberries, red grapes, broccoli, lemonjuice, cashew nuts, pumpkin seeds, coconut milk, water, stevia, coconut oil and LOTS of cocoa, cocoa makes it all taste really good 🙂

I've finally got the hang of making better smoothies, especially after I stopped using yogurt. By the way, ABG, Fairy, I have noticed a big change in my skin from cutting out the dairy. No new breakouts but today my mom brought me home a sandwich from some shop and forgot to ask for no mayonnaise. By the time I realized mayo was in it the sandwich was already in my stomach...hopefully that won't be a massive problem.

jimpa,

I think we could all learn a thing or two from you!! Sounds like a nutrient packed smoothie to me!

pun intended,

So glad you've noticed a change in your skin from cutting out dairy! I wouldn't worry too much about the mayo, especially if you had your greens today. It was probably just a small amount. :)

It won't be a massive problem. It is OK to eat bad stuff once in a while. I don't do that because I can control it ^_^ Plus, I love the taste of healthy foods I eat.

No problems! Try to enjoy. ^_^

As long as you drink green smoothie, you'll be fine. If you ever intent to eat junk foods, then make the green smoothie twice to be safe. 😛 I saw that green smoothie cleans your stomach... and many more. 😛

That does not mean that you can eat junk foods everyday... NO! not good. 😛

Once in a while! 😛

What's the best way to drink a smoothie during the day? A smoothie is not something that would fill me, so I'd have to eat some solid food after/before it. Right now I've been drinking it on an empty stomach and then I would follow with some protein rich foods like meat.

Also, is it ok to mix veggies and leafy greens? I like to use broccoli everywhere.

hesitation,

Probably the best would be first thing in the morning, as fruits are most cleansing to the body I believe when eaten in the morning. Perhaps a smoothie followed by a little oatmeal? I just always tell people that however/whenever it works best for you to drink your smoothie is fine. The main thing is to just drink it at some point in the day.

Some have noticed digestive issues when eaten with other foods. If this is the case, you may want to wait an hour or two after eating to drink your smoothie and then wait about 30 min before eating anything else. I think they way you're doing it is fine.

It's definitely okay to add in broccoli! Check out the recipe for veggie smoothies on the first page. :)

Thank you Adam. :) Does is say that? If so, I need to fix that. It's fine to use broccoli, but it's not fine to use broccoli in place of leafy greens. As long as you have your leafy greens included, you can add whatever veggies you feel like. :)

Thanks. You said that we can mix fat with smoothies for better absorption. Would coconut milk be fine for that? I don't care about the taste that much since it only takes a few minutes to get it down. I want to maximize the health benefits of my smoothies. Has anyone tried coconut milk?

Perhaps you could try adding oat powder? You can make your own by buying steel-cut oats and blend it. 😛

If only I could find a good coconut milk... because If I have no problem with coconut oil, then I won't problem with coconut milk 😛

I see it canned in health food stores, but I never get it! Fresh would be best of course, but young coconuts are so darn hard to break into - even if you know the "easy" way!!!! LOL

HEhe. When I first tried coconut, I burned it first 😛 then break. 🙂 I'm gonna have to look for young coconut ^^ and burn the hell out of it.

I saw Levi roots get water out by sticking something sharp into one of the three kind of holes at the top of the coconut, on every coconut only one of the three holes are hollow and just stick whatever your using into the one thats hollow and pour out water

 Ive never tried it but it looks good

Fresh coconuts are CRAZY to open.

Hesitation, I've used coconut milk in my smoothies since day one. It makes dark green turn into a nicer green and tastes delicious. I used AYAM coconut cream. Ingredients: 100% coconut! It's $2 for a small can but so worth it. I buy like 5 cans and it lasts me two weeks.

The best I could find was the one with 80% coconut. Taste's pretty good.

ABG, in the first post you said "Limit nuts and seeds to no more than two ounces with one meal". Why? I've been eating like 12+ ounces of macadamia nuts daily, usually I divide them between two meals. I take tons of fish oil to balance out the omegas.
