ABG Fairy, I'm appreciative of all the time and effort you take to promote and help people who are new to green smoothies. It is very kind and selfless of you to carry the momentum throughout over 100 pgs and counting.
Through consuming green smoothies, my family and I had better digestion. I noticed my brother's skin got clearer. My little sister been vying for green smoothies and wonders why I don't make them when she comes back home from college as if it was intentional, lol. I slacked off since the summer and now that spring is here, I'm going to pick it back up.
silxcite,
That is so nice of you to say, thank you so much. I feel responsible for this thread since I started it, and I definitely want to encourage anyone who's possibly interested in starting green smoothies. They have been such a huge blessing in my life! I'm really glad you're going to start doing them again! Thank you again for the kind words! It is very appreciated.

because of you, we drink green smoothie 😛
You posted this a few years ago, and it's always on top... 😛 So many views.... 😛
leafy green is vital.. so nutritious for our body, and skin.
I am proud of you though. 😉 I wish i knew you in person. lol
Hi
Sorry this is off topic, but I have read through a lot of the pages and somewhere near the beginning you said you made your own almond butter. I have checked it out online but there are so many different recipes-how do you like to make yours, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks in advance
I made my third smoothie just now - it is v nice
1 banana
1 kiwi
Few frozen red berries
Cooled green tea
1 tsp ground flax seed
Blender-full (Magic Bullet) of mixed leafy greens
I think bananas are the key for me although eventually I want to try a variety of fruits.
I asked the question before, in my bag of mixed leafs there is red chard & baby red leaf. Are these fine?
Thanks!
Nicola x

Have you tried mangoes? It will increase the flavor. 😛 Even if you add a bit.
I usually add 4-5 small piece and I could taste the mangoes.
That's it? red chard and baby red leaf?
You should consider spinach, kale, and collard and mix them up occasionally, or just spinach 😛
I usually do spinach only... and sometime, kale only.. or mix them 🙂 Note that you have to add more fruits when you do kale only... because you won't taste the fruits at all.. its flavor is powerful. 😛
Eddie,
Thank you! You would be fun to meet too! haha And, thank you so much for those very kind words.
Nicola,
Perhaps it was someone else who said they make almond butter? I may have mentioned making almond milk. Some people make almond butter with high powered blenders, like a Vita-Mix.
Red chard and baby red leaf are fine - they key is to get a variety of leafy greens.... those may not be "green", haha, but they're still a good pick!
Sounds like your smoothies are going well so far!

We would hang out a lot.. ride road bikes, and many more. 😛 You name it, we will do that. lol
Anyhow, I wonder if it's OK to do drink this 3-4 times a week? I could save some money 😛
Because I am going from a full-time job to a part-time due to college. However, good news is that my skin looks nice! Not too oily, feels nice when I touch it.
I know that I had to break-out because this happened for many people who tried green smoothie initially, then they saw good result within weeks.
I think I've been stressing a lot.. 😛 Math screw me up big time.
Has anyone experience gas from these smoothies?hahait seems like ive been gettting gas lately ever since i started these
Me 😛 It takes time to get used to. If I drink this at night, my room will smell bad. 😛
So I try to drink this in the morning. Plus, I've decided to drink this sometime... until I get used to it 😛 I am breaking out with little bumps.. but I don't mind as my skin looks nice.
I bought a seasonal four leaf salad pack because it was on sale - I just saw green leaves & thought a-ha! Reading what's in it, mixed multileaves: four of the following; green batavia salanova, red batavia, greenleaf, lollo rosso, lollo bionda, endive, green oak. I was like wtf? I bet they're not even that nutritious, I'm probably eating the equivalent of iceberg lol. I need to google these bad boys
I can't taste peach in my smoothie what a waste of a lovely peach, I'd rather just eat it!
P.S. Sorry about the nut butter, I just assumed it was you ha ha
Yeah, I find four leaf and salad types to be pretty (and taste good as salads) but although I've never tried them in smoothies, I think they'll taste like nothing or foul like you're drinking ... lettuce (ew) and I don't think they'd have a high nutritional content because we all know that iceberg has none.
I'm sticking to spinach because it's so convenient and cheap (frozen) and one day I will be game enough to use kale, romaine, bok choy or collard greens - I can't even find them anywhere!

Not a waste. 🙂 peach is nutritious
Eddie,
I love riding bikes!! That would be fun! haha
3-4 smoothies a week are better than no smoothies! Not sure if 3-4 is enough to keep your skin clear, but you can experiment and see what you think. Maybe you could try frozen spinach, as Brissyguy has suggested before? He gets his really cheap.
Sorry you're having troubles with math!! Is someone helping you?
436,
It might help to drink these alone and not eat right before or after (30 min.). Also, if you're not taking a probiotic, I would suggest that as well!! They are very helpful for good digestion.
NicolaJMP,
Peaches can get lost in a smoothie if you only use a small amount of peaches, but otherwise, they are awesome in smoothies!!
Let us know what you find out about those lettuces, but my guess is that they're very nutritious. I think iceberg is about the only green that's not nutritious. It's great to get a variety, so I think these "mystery greens" are probably great! hehe I use spring mix a lot in my smoothies, which has a very wide variety of greens. I normally do the mixes with apples, pears, lemon, or just frozen fruit mix.
Brissyguy,
Do you have any health markets, like Whole Foods nearby? They usually have a good variety of greens. It'd hate for you to just limit yourself to spinach!
Has anyone tried to make pasta sauce this way? I tried tonight, but I didn't have all the ingredients I wanted, so it didn't taste that great.
I used tomatoes, basil, oregano, onion, olive oil, water, and crushed red pepper. That would have been OK, but I used too much onion and thought maybe adding avocado would make it more bland. Unfortunately the avocado made it terrible.
So, does anyone have a specific pasta sauce recipe for the blender?

Yes, I deliberately wanted to get suspended from my job.. and I did.
Trying to catch up. 😛 My goal is vital for me, and I will succeed.
My dad is telling me to keep doing that so I could collect for a year.. 😛 they are sweet.
I wanted to do that so I could study harder... By the time I am done collecting, I will have my nursing degree.. or what ever. I want to be a CNA, and that takes a few months.
Where I live, they are looking for nursing assistant. 😐
I think I will just do 4-5 smoothie a day.. sounds better? lol
amyelizabeth94,
Ugh... I "should" know of a recipe for tomato sauce!!! One thing, you might try canned tomatoes - they will give more of that rich, tomato sauce flavor. Tomato paste would be helpful as well. Maybe some veggie broth? I would also saute some onions and garlic in a little olive oil along with your spices before adding your ingredients. Hope this helps!

OK! But I want to ride bike with you. 🙂
I'm gonna make a smoothie after a long time... Here's what I've got at home right now that I could use: broccoli, different kinds of cabbage, spinach, cucumber, pasley, some other green leafy veggies meant for salads, strawberries, apples (granny smith and some red ones), bananas, kiwis, coconut milk.
Should I just throw them all in?
