Just wanted to pipe in that I have been drinking smoothies, and juicing for while now and love it. Actually, I only really juice apples/carrots because it is time consuming to clean that thing all the time. I usually drink one apple/carrot juice with flax seed for breakfast and 1 or 2 green drinks per day. Usually I'll have spinach with peaches and strawberries, or blueberries. Sometimes I do romaine with mixed berries. I buy the bags of frozen fruit (cheaper and easier) and also buy bananas and cut them up then freeze them so they last longer. It has been a great addition to my diet and so glad I started...I get all the veggies/fruits I need now instead of worrying about trying to eat them (which I was never very good at).
🙂
spinach , strawberries and peaches , how does it taste?
I first though the spinach would be overpowering...but that wasn't the case at all. I generally use about 2-3 handfuls of spinach and 4-6 sices of peaches and a handful of either strawberries or blueberries (or whatever else I may have) and you can't hardly taste the spinach at all! Most of the fruit has a stonger taste so it takes over the spinach. Very good!!!!

I'm going to try it ! 🙂
rand0m,Sounds like a good smoothie! 🙂
Eddie,
I agree - mangoes or peaches either one would be great. I find that mangoes have a sweeter flavor though, so they tend to do a better job covering up the greens, but I'd try them both!! Throwing in a few berries, like Heather does, is also a great idea both for taste and antioxidants. 🙂
Okay , will try it tomorrow. 🙂
Forgot to say that you need to add about a cup or 2 of water (depending on your preference) for easy blending.
meat_pirate86,Those are some awesome recipes! Thanks for posting! 🙂
Eddie,
Mango would taste great with the peaches and strawberries! It would definitely give a sweeter taste.
5-6 handfuls of spinach is fine but not everyday - try to use a variety. 🙂
I drink them daily (well, minus the weekends)...so 5 days a week. Do you suppose that is a bad idea?
I should probably use romaine a little more often I guess.
I have started drinking these and with some aloe vera flavored berry from Wal-mart and coconut juice they actually taste pretty good!
of course that is just an opinion but lol give them a try your face in about two weeks will get softer and more radient oh another good food to try and eat is CARROT i dont know why but my face really likes this one even tho i can only bare to eat 2 At a time lol, but yeah you have nothing to lose and so much to gain (=
alternativista,
That sounds great - I love Kiwi!! Thanks for posting!
I'mHeather,
Yes, I would definitely switch the greens around, though I know how tempting just using spinach can be!! But other options are romaine, spring mix, collards, kale, parsley, etc. Try to at least switch it up every week or so.
Paul25,
Hey! MSM would be fine to add - I don't know how it affects acne though. Anyone?
Dowell,
Welcome! I'm glad you tried out a smoothie, but sorry it didn't work out! Try using about half the amount of spinach you used the first time, or, if you were using frozen peaches, just add more peaches. Were you using baby spinach? It's milder in flavor. Good luck!
rand0m,
Another tasty sounding recipe - thanks for posting!
frankie1,
Thanks for those awesome tips and positive smoothie vibes!!
Hey guys,
I have been experimenting with green smoothies for a loong time and have found the best acne fighting combo:
-mixed frozen berries
-large handful of washed, fresh kale leaves
-large handful of green curly parsley
-spring water
Another tip for some of you is to use 3 drops of oregano oil on an empty stomach before drinking the smoothie for about a weeks time. (make sure its oregano oil for consumption not aromatherapy). The oregano oil is super crazy strong but it will kill all internal bacteria, parasites and candida which are causing acne in a loooot of people.
Ell,
Welcome to the boards and thanks for posting!! That recipe "definitely" sounds like a winner for combating acne. Not only is it a low glycemic-index, but it's full of antioxidants and two super nutrient rich greens - kale and parsley. Thanks for sharing it.
The oregano sounds like a "great" idea. Actually, I'd like to add oregano oil to my daily routine, as we are always being exposed to nastiness (such a funny word, haha), and the oregano would be a safeguard. It works so well that I've heard of people getting over antibiotic resistant staph infections with it!
Well, I drank green smoothies for a week. It did made my skin look better. However, I am breaking out with very small acne. I am sure that is not the smoothies. I've added too much food at the same time.
I am going to add food one at a time, starting with green smoothies.
Although, it upset my stomach. I will need to get used to it.
I've gotten one acne only. I see more that are forming. Is only like 2-3. They're small.
I shouldn't have added too much food at the same time. >_>
I was hoping that it wasn't my diet. I am not too sure if it was the diet.
Polska Laska,
You're very welcome!! Hope you and your husband enjoy the smoothies!
Eddie,
Glad you're doing the smoothies again! If they upset your stomach, you might want to eat them after you eat a snack/meal. I don't know why they would upset your stomach though. The breakouts could be from the smoothies cleansing your body, since you haven't done them in a while? - but who knows - it could be a number of things!

I haven't drunk green smoothies for a year. I might get back into doing that! I felt like it made my skin look great, and I also felt energized!
faithhope,
Yea!!! So glad you like green smoothies! And I agree, they're a whole lot easier than eating salads! And... you get four times the amount of nutrition since they're blended!! Woohoo!!
Eddie,
Wow, a year! I'm glad you're getting back into them! If nothing else, they are excellent for maintaining your health by giving your body nutrients, fiber and fighting off disease!
