wow a lot of you r messed up in the head.. not insulting....jus u guys seem so psychologically messed cuz of wut you guys are eating. Uve made like a paranoia about food

Food has pretty much nothing to do with it. Unless u have allergic reactions to it or something. Eat wut u want ppl, unless u are capable of eating nothing but greens and losing 30 pounds...and keeping that diet for the rest of ur life... i hope there arent any guys in this topic.

Lol , there are more healthy food out there to eat................

We just saying the green smoothies is the healthiest. We should all add this into our diet.

Even if you get acne from it.You must keep on drinking it. 🙂

and um ya i tried those diets stricly for a while and it had some effect...but it screwed me up psycologically n i became very very thin....and being a guy in high school...thats bad

Hm , you just need carbs.

Sweet potatoes , 100% whole grain oats , beans , LOTSSSS of veggies , chicken breast , cage free eggs, etc.

search for bodybuildings forums in google.

I am training hard in that gym. So far , I've gained 5-10lbs on muscles.

Hi, I have a question relating to the diet section of the post. Does oatmeal count as a whole grain? Thank you.

Eddie,

Great posts, thanks!! :) For the fridge question, the smoothies can last 24-48hrs in the refrigerator. Some people make their smoothies every other day. I used to do this too, but they're so quick and easy to make that I just make them fresh everyday now.

huglife2k5,

Ah..... okay, haha. :) Glad your skin is doing better. I hope you do well on the accutane.... and I hope you might also consider doing green smoothies.... I like to call them the natural alternative to accutane, since they're full of beta-carotene, which turns to vitamin A in the body. :)

iamafreak,

I agree with Eddie - the kind he suggested are a whole grain (I think most other kinds are too.... I forget!!) - just don't buy the "instant oatmeal."

carrie54,

You are very welcome! I'm happy to know you're enjoying the recipes, and thank you so much for your kind post! :)

Just wanted to pipe in that I have been drinking smoothies, and juicing for while now and love it. Actually, I only really juice apples/carrots because it is time consuming to clean that thing all the time. I usually drink one apple/carrot juice with flax seed for breakfast and 1 or 2 green drinks per day. Usually I'll have spinach with peaches and strawberries, or blueberries. Sometimes I do romaine with mixed berries. I buy the bags of frozen fruit (cheaper and easier) and also buy bananas and cut them up then freeze them so they last longer.

It has been a great addition to my diet and so glad I started...I get all the veggies/fruits I need now instead of worrying about trying to eat them (which I was never very good at).

:)

i put 2-3 strawberries, a few blueberries, half a banana, a handful of kale or spinach (i rotate), half an apple, sprinkle some flax seed, and water.

and if you want extra sweetness you can put a little maple syrup

My life isn't that easy. 😐

Btw , I saw frozen peaches and mangoes. Are they healthy?

Which is better , mangoes or peaches?

I had been drinking green smoothies , like 4-5 big handfuls , with some strawberries and stevia

doesn't taste that great. I would like to try mangoes or something.

🙂

I first though the spinach would be overpowering...but that wasn't the case at all. I generally use about 2-3 handfuls of spinach and 4-6 sices of peaches and a handful of either strawberries or blueberries (or whatever else I may have) and you can't hardly taste the spinach at all! Most of the fruit has a stonger taste so it takes over the spinach. Very good!!!!

rand0m,

Sounds like a good smoothie! :)

Eddie,

I agree - mangoes or peaches either one would be great. I find that mangoes have a sweeter flavor though, so they tend to do a better job covering up the greens, but I'd try them both!! Throwing in a few berries, like Heather does, is also a great idea both for taste and antioxidants. :)

My favourite combinations:

Handful baby spinach, juice of half an orange or a tangerine blended with water and strained. I love how spinach lends a creamy, almost pillowy texture to the smoothie. The citrus is really energizing and the blended spinach is good for sustained energy.

Small knob of peeled ginger, couple slices of honeydew melon, handful of lettuce, squeeze of lemon. This is good blended, strained and re-blended with ice on special occasions as it makes a very tasty light, pretty green-coloured frosty. Might be good with a little rum, however the ginger gives it a kick that really awakens the senses and is great when you need to be sharp.

1/4 cucumber, small handful of romaine and a peeled bosc pear (also good with asian and anjou pear varieties). This is a syrupy sweet smoothie that really plumps and moisturizes the skin. I will have this before bed when I need to look my best the next day.

If you tolerate animal products, you can turn a green smoothie into a complete meal replacement by adding either an egg or an egg yolk.
