Eddie,You're welcome! 🙂 The Ezekiel foods are great, but I think you'd have to get several servings to equal getting enough lentils everyday - I'd still opt for cooking either lentils or beans, but you said you're going to start cooking beans, so that's great! Remember to do a variety of beans! It's true that too many nuts/seeds can contribute to breakouts, so that's definitely something to continue monitoring. 🙂
Is hard cause i love Cashew. lol i just wanna eat it all. 😛
you know ittttttttttt lol 🙂 they taste so great.
but how many time u recommend eating ezekiel bread , tortillas and cereal?
I am going to make coconut milk for the cereal. 🙂
I will cook the beans and add it on white rice ( which i add veggies , tomatoes sauce ) Spanish rice!!
I know white rice is unhealthy but eating 1-2 times a week shouldn't hurt 🙂
how many gram of protein a day is good?
i am in a gym and i want Muscle!! lol
and i know i should eat 1 tbs of almond butter raw but will add it on smoothie 😉
and 1 handful or 2 handful of cashew raw a day? :X
yes i need weight. 😉
Paul25,I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't know about this. I know you're looking to not have to keep exfoliating, but Paula Begoun has a very well formulated 2% BHA though that I would recommend. I use it, and it's not drying to your skin. If you go here, you can buy a small sample size: http://www.paulaschoice.com/product/two-pe...-aha-exfoliants . 🙂
Thanks 🙂 I have too many skin products at the moment and am trying to limit buying new ones at the current time. I have a 2% BHA, its this one, i havnt really given it a chance before but as thats something similar do you think that could be quite helpful?
Eddie,
How long have you been doing whey protein? It's dairy and could be breaking you out.
You asked a lot of questions, and I think you'd enjoy reading Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman... he addresses a lot of these questions. I wouldn't worry so much about how much protein you need to get daily but rather to make sure you're eating enough calories of high-nutrient foods, especially vegetables. If you are doing this, you will automatically be getting enough protein. How many starches you should get depends on how active you are. Perhaps 3-4 servings a day for you?? I'd eat "at least" a cup of beans or lentils every single day and focus more on vegetables rather than starches like Ezekiel products (but a couple of these everyday is fine!). Also, be sure to get nuts/seeds everyday as well.
Paul,
I wish I had more knowledge of skin care ingredients and how they work in order to evaluate the product you are using. I did notice though that salicylic acid is listed pretty far down in the ingredients, so it makes me questions the effectiveness of this product. I don't know what the ph range is for this product either. For it to be effective, it needs to have a ph range of 3.2-3.6. You can get ph test strips at health food stores. If this product is effective though, I definitely think it could be helpful! Paula sells her products in Europe: http://www.paulaschoice-eu.com/shop/ She's running 10% off her BHA products right now.

How long does your exfoliating product usually last you? I did use my SA lotion last night and my skin always seems to feel tight afterwards, it isnt a very nice feeling having that all day. Ive just checked the delivery cost for Paulas choice and its put me off a little bit, overall the whole order would cost about 22 and i dont think i can really afford that if its something im going to want to buy quite often.
Paul,
£22 is outrageously priced! Yikes. Didn't realize her products were so much more expensive up there. They are very reasonable here in the states. Having said that though, mine lasts, I would guess, 8-12 months, and I maybe use it 2-5 times a week. Sorry to not be more specific than that. Mine isn't drying. Maybe yours contains alcohol? You might want to check the ingredients of yours to see if any of them are drying: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn/cosmetic...=6&letter=A
Do you have access to Neutrogena products in Europe? Paula Begoun has said good things about their BHA products in the past. This one might be good: http://www.neutrogena.com/ProductsDetails_...roductLineID=13 .
Also, you can get reviews on all kinds of products from Paula here: http://www.beautypedia.com/default.aspx . I think you can sign up for a free trial, so it might be worth checking it out just to see which brands of BHAs, cleansers, moisturizers, toners and sunscreens she recommends that are available to you in Europe.

Thanks for all your help and i shall take a look at those links 🙂 I noticed in your sig it says you use paulas anti blemish kit, what is involved in all of this? Is it just like a cleanser, toner and exfoliant, that sort of thing? Im thinking as i havnt completely sorted my internal problems which could be causing my acne i could at least try and help my skin by using something on my face which will improve it.
You're welcome Paul! I think what we put on our skin is important too - it's important to use products that are well formulated. I wish an all natural line would come out that was really well formulated, but sadly, I didn't have the best of luck with all natural products. Paula has free product reviews on her website, so you might want to also seek those out. This is the kit I was referring to: http://www.paulaschoice.com/category/skin-balancing-system The name has changed since I bought mine. I use Oil of Olay's sunscreen for combination skin instead of Paula's, as that particular product of hers is rather pricey.
I first would like to congratulate you on such a great thread. I'm looking at starting to make my own green smoothies. I was wondering what recipe contains the most beta-carotene? And is consuming too much bad for you? Also will I see an improvement in my acne by having one large green smoothie a day or should I consume several small ones throughout the day? Also will a juicer work with this as opposed to a blender?

i feel that 2 large green smoothie a day works best for the skin [2 large handful]. one in the morning, one in the evening. expect at least 3 weeks of consistent usage of greens though. good luck =D im sure a juicer works jst fine. if im not wrong.. carrot and spinach are rich in beta-carotene. since its fat soluble vit, you might want to include some fats in the smoothie.
mysteryman,
Thank you! I'm happy to hear you want to give the smoothies a try! Your best bets are the cruciferous veggies mentioned in the first post - I'd stick to these. I don't think you need to worry about doing too many greens, and I wouldn't know how much "too much" would be actually. If you have a juicer and want to use it, I would use it along with the smoothies. Juicing should bring you excellent results - even faster perhaps than doing smoothies. I'd opt for a smoothie and 2-4 ounces of cruciferous greens mixed with carrot/apple juice if you're looking for quick results. Several throughout the day would probably be best, but just do what works best for you. I usually drink mine all at once.
Paul25,
My mom puts garlic in she and my dad's smoothies pretty much everyday - she loves it! My dad drinks it without complaining, so I guess he's okay with it too, haha. I'm not too fond it in mine though, but my mom puts all kinds of different veggies, greens and fruits in her smoothies, so often, the garlic compliments them well. I'd opt for this if I were drinking more of a veggie smoothie vs. one with lots of fruit. If you want to add it, I think it's a great idea, as garlic is very healthful. Just be careful not to use too much!
AltaPGT,
I do use kale. I wash the leaves, tear them from the stem, throw them in the blender and discard the stems. Whether you use the stems is a personal choice. I personally find them much too fibrous! haha My sister, on the other hand, is fine with using the stems!
everyskyisblue__,Turmeric Dressing
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup cashews (optional)
1/2 cup lemon or lime juice

and it helps me , gives me good energy to exercise etc.

but i really need protein =\ but thx i will eat veggies alot more
I usually eat Romaine , sliced ( broccoli , carrots and red cabbage ) , with avocados and Extra virgin olive oil Or cashew raw dressing 😛
Eddie,
Glad you found a recipe you really like! I used to make mine with all cashews, but it actually tastes about the same with sunflower seeds, and they're more nutritious and have more protein as well. They are a little harder to find, but a local health food store should carry them.
As for protein, you can get plenty of protein from beans/legumes, nuts/seeds and even vegetables. If you're eating enough calories of plant foods, you'll automatically get enough protein. Protein from real food is preferred to isolated proteins, like the whey protein powders. Are you not still doing hard boiled eggs? That would be a good option for you if you're looking for a quick protein source, and I like to get at least a little protein from animal sources. I don't ever wish to be completely vegan.
For your dressings, the cashew dressing is a better choice than the oliver oil, since the olive oil is processed, high in calories and virtually void of nutrition. Your cashews sauce on the other hand is a high-nutrient dressing.

🙂 thx lol , well i have egg whites 100% liquid. , i drink it
yeah i make scrambled eggs with a bit of coconut oil , is that good?
Well i finish the whey protein , so wont buy anymore. 😉
which veggies have protein? 🙂 i should buy more leafy greens? like kale , collard ( all this has protein? )
btw with what i should eat beans? I should cook it in boiled water , would be ok to add Sweet potatoes and Tomatoes Sauce? and just eat it like that.
or eat it with white rice since i eat white rice like 1-2 times a week i add veggies on white rice
and i buy the organic one which is not refined.
i need weight ,
so i eat plenty of cashew , prolly bad to do that.. >_> i will just use cashew for dressing only
instead of eat like 3 handfuls a day!
btw i use Organic extra virgin olive oil. hehe. not olive oil. sry for typing "olive oil" ;(
I will try ur recipe 😉 since gonna go to shop now.
Eddie,
I would just use regular eggs. I'm not a huge fan of coconut oil, being that it's a saturated fat, but if you're just using a tiny amount, that should be fine.
As for the amount of protein in veggies and how much extra protein you need for weight gain, you will find this excellent article very, very informative. Below is a quote taken from the article about weight gain: http://www.diseaseproof.com/archives/healt...onutrients.html
You can cook beans (cheaper) or buy them canned. Eat them with whatever healthful foods you enjoy them with. I add them to soups, but a lot of times, I just eat them with cubed avocado, lemon juice and spices like chili powder, cumin our turmeric. It's a fast, easy and nutritious snack.
Eddie, have you tried making brown rice? It really is very delicious, fills the entire house with a wonderful aroma while being cooked, and is much more nutritious than white rice.
Whichever olive oil you're using, you're still better off with the nut based dressing.
I would guess a 1/4 cup is 2 handfuls, but to be sure, you might want to stick to a measuring cup.

Even a professional body builder who wants to build one-half pound of extra muscle per week only needsabout an extra seven grams per dayover a normal protein intake. No Complicated formulas or protein supplements are needed to get sufficient protein for growth, even in the serious athlete. Exercise increases hunger, and as the athlete consumes more calories to meet the demands of exercise, they will naturally get the extra protein they need. Many world-class athletes thrive at world-class competitions on vegetarian and vegan diets.

thx , They don't sell cashew raw anymore i need to wait till they get more 🙁
i have a bit of Cashew dressing anyways =\
I tried to make brown rice like 10 times and all came oujt bad had to put it In the trash!!
>_> dunno how to cook it. 🙁
Eddie,
Aww... yeah, brown rice can be tricky. Mine has come out bad before too! haha You have to cook it exactly as the directions call for. Perhaps a rice cooker would help?
heres johnny,
Use lots of cruciferous leafy greens like spinach, kale, collards, etc. in your smoothies - those are the most powerful at balancing hormones. Something as simple as a couple handfuls of baby spinach with a banana or two would work.
I've been using a lot of bok choy in my green smoothies lately, and it seems that the innermost leaves have a very bitter, pungent taste that makes the smoothie taste quite unpleasant. Has anyone else noticed this? I've never come across this with the outer, greener leaves-- only the bunched up, "middle" part of the bok choy. Obviously this could probably be avoided by using less of the whole bok choy, but any concrete tips are welcome.
