Paul25,The tea sounds great, and it fine to take the fish oil after the smoothie - with (but not blended in) would be even better. The fats will actually help you to absorb more of the nutrition in the smoothie. 🙂
About having to use the restroom... I hold off on drinking my smoothies if I know I'll be leaving the house within an hour and might not have access to a restroom, because yes, they do catch up to you rather quickly! haha
Thanks for your help 🙂
I just had a read of the main page again and noticed Dr. Joel Fuhrman says to try and sweat as much as possible. I cant remember the last time i actually did sweat on my face though, when i exercise on my trampoline i rarely ever sweat at all. I have just got our stepping machine out though and it actually got me hot quite quick and have sweat abit. Do you try to achieve this everyday and does it help much at all?
Well I'm going to have to admit that these smoothies are life-saving. My skin is getting better day-by-day. The only thing is I think I have to do them EVERYDAY to stay clear. I skipped this past Saturday and had breakouts. However, if I do two a day, everyday, I am staying clear. I still want to give this a bit longer to make sure that it is working.
For those of you who want to take supplements after the smoothies: I am currently on NdnRomeo's regimen which includes stuff in my signature but anyway I have been mixing in Extra Virgin Olive Oil (2 tablespoons) into each smoothie. Before, the taste of EVOO upset my olfactory senses. Now in the smoothie I can't even taste it! Plus EVOO is so good for you and is also a part of NdnRomeo's regimen. I then wait about 10 minutes after I finish the smoothie and take my fish oils and vitamins. It has been working out great! Hope this helps!
Whipped out my blender and started to make a pretty delicious smoothie. I'm for sure going to the store later tonight to stock up. Thanks for posting this you have officially reignited my love affair with smoothies.
Edit: Back from grocery store, this one is way better than my first. Unfortunately no one in my family would try it because it looked "too" green. It tastes like a pear though.
We have this huge veggie tray in the fridge so I just threw tons of carrots /1 handful spinach / some lettuce from a left over salad / a pear / banana / vanilla extract / cinnamon / ice cubes and some water. Super good, thanks again for posting this.
Paul25,
For me, sweating isn't necessary - just getting in my blended greens is enough, but if you're still having issues, I would definitely give exercise a try. Just getting outside for a walk/jog in the afternoon sun should do the trick. If you have any walking/hiking trails in your area, those would be fun to seek out. You can work up quite a sweat just by lifting weights as well and doing exercises like squats, push-ups, sit ups, etc.
psuboy,
So glad they are keeping you clear, and thanks for the tips! Are you doing cruciferous greens in your smoothies?
Rob2686,
Just read your other post a while ago, and I'm so glad you're going to seek out Dr. Fuhrman's books! I think you'll be really excited by what you read in them.
Really glad you're off to such a great start with the smoothies!!! For your family, you can add raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, etc to disguise the color. I used to make "pink" smoothies for my brother that had spinach blended in, and he never knew. hehe =D

I've coerced almost everyone in my family into trying it now (the green version), my brother wouldn't give it back to me hah.
Rob2686,
Wow, you are amazing!! And you didn't even have to disguise the color! SO cool that your brother liked it so much too! Usually people are close-minded to green smoothies unless they're interested in health or are really open-minded to trying new things for their skin, so my kudos to you!!
Hey, I'm recently trying this out. But is there really a need to stick to recipes? Just today I just blended whatever I seen in my fridge. A cucumber, broccoli, spinach, a tomato, lettuce, a banana, blueberries, apricots, and half a peach. And it tasted pretty alright. So, does it matter what recipe is what? I just throw in as much greens as possible with some added fruit.
Its taking me at least 20 minutes to make my green smoothies, I'm only putting one piece of fruit in and alot of spinach, cabbage and bok choy. Maybe almost 3 handfuls of greens, and washing them is the problem. I try to make sure to pull the leaves apart and thoroughly wash them before putting them in the blender, and this makes it takes agessss. Has anyone got any advice?

you could buy a salad spinner? My friend has one and they are so fun to use/make it easier to wash veggies!
Oh, you could also buy from a company called "organic girl" they sell cruciferous vegetables and wash them three times, I have seen them in most grocery stores in Missouri, but I do not know where you live. You could look in your salad isle in your grocery store? Ooh, also they have this product that is sold in grocery stores which I have not investigated yet and it could be complete crap, but it is this water system that is only like 30 dollars and it adds an extra molecule of oxygen to H20 to make it H30 which is highly toxic but unstable and it kills all bacteria on food and "turns back" into water in less than 45 seconds so you can sanitize food and surfaces much easier/faster/practically with no chemicals. However, this idea may sound good but it does not sound very logical, I dunno, you could check it out, just a thought. Good luck!
psuboy,
So cool that you're using greens from your garden!!
Souble,
There's absolutely no need at all to stick to a recipe - they are simply there to serve as examples in helping people getting started. The main thing is to get in some fruit and lots of greens!
Tobias,
I'm sorry it's taking you so long - perhaps you are washing too much? The main thing is to rinse your veggies thoroughly with water. This link, which was linked off a page at The Centers for Disease Control, tells how to do it: http://www.fightbac.org/content/view/203 You might consider buying pre-washed greens if you find it's still taking you a long time.
Rob2686,
That's great advice! This would be a great time-saver for people that would like to make smoothies every other day instead of daily.
These things are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! today is my 10th or 11th day I think on drinking 5-6 cups a day and my face has never been this clear ever!!!!! OMG! (also I am applying ACV topically, but I have no idea which one is clearing my face more!)
I am so happy right now, I could dance!
Paul25,I would think taking it with your smoothie would be fine, as I've never heard it should be taken on its own, but I'm not entirely sure. Does anyone know?
GREEN smoothies are the best! :angel:Awesome!!! Thanks for stopping by KingLikeRoy! 🙂
I was having a search about and found this website with this cleansing product. It has this in the Q&A section.
"When I am using Whole Body Cleanse, should I take the fiber and milk thistle at the same time? Will the fiber prevent the milk thistle from being absorbed?
Psyllium will not block the absorption of nutrients, although it may slow the absorption of some compounds into the blood stream. The Super Milk Thistle and Fiber Formula in Whole Body Cleanse can be taken separately or together - it is simply a matter of customer preference. The psyllium in Fiber Formula will not prevent the absorption of the ingredients in Super Milk Thistle."
Would the same thing apply for smoothies then really?
Paul25,
I would think it would apply even more to the smoothies, because my guess would be that the fiber in the psyllium is more potent that in the smoothies. If there's any doubt though, I would take it away from the smoothie. If you're just drinking your smoothie once a day, that should be easy to do?

I want to take it nearish to the smoothie as the fibre is suppose to help the toxins not get sent back to your skin when taking milk thistile, although i dont want to take it to near just encase. Its abit difficult due to my job but i guess getting up abit earlier would make things better, if i was able to leave it for about half an hour from drinking the smoothie to taking the milk thistle then that should be okay i would think.
Just a thought, i know ive read about taking fibre so that the toxins milk thistle gets out from your liver go out the other end instead of going back up to your skin, but would just drinking a fair bit of water after the milk thistle flush out the toxins? If this would work then i would be able to split apart the times i have the smoothie and milk thistle greatly.
I don't understand why but australia seems to just not be WITH IT. I cannot for the life of me find kale or collards over here. F***! So, I was on wikipedia, looking at kale, which it says is of the cabbage family, so I thought "PERFECT, I'LL JUST USE CABBAGE INSTEAD"
turns out is has hardly any nutrition http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=f...ice&dbid=19
see...
What can I use instead
http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=f...pice&dbid=9 - maybe broccolli
*I use bok choy and spinach aswel. THANK GOD we at least have that!!!!!
**just found an autralian site that sells kale seeds!!! GUMBOOTS ON PEOPLE, WEZ GOING GARDENIN
Paul25,
Water would help, but I doubt it would absorb as many toxins as fiber.... this is just my opinion though. I don't know much about it.
tobias,
Sorry you're struggling to find good greens! Have you gone to several different grocery stores?
Also, cabbage is one of the most nutrient foods you can eat, so fear not. I checked out what whfoods says about it, and it gives a glowing review: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=f...ice&dbid=19 . Scroll down to read about all its amazing health benefits, and the nutrient chart at the bottom tells how nutritious it is, which I pasted below. Also, here's a list of foods based on their nutrient scores, and cabbage is at the top: http://www.drfuhrman.com/library/article17.aspx .
