I'm okay I'm doing variety I like spinach with oranges lol. I don't know how much longer I'm gonna go with this plan. This is gonna be my first experiment with acne for my journal if this doesn't work, (which I don't see much results) I'm gonna go on to trying some other things mentioned in this section. but thanks for all your help throughout

To avoid getting bored or tired of the smoothies, you might consider doing more variety. Also, be sure you give the smoothies at least 6 weeks before deciding whether or not they are helping you. It's important to try to eat healthier as well, but it's essential to get in your greens. Greens are the most important food for those with acne.
This thread is long and i just want to know one thing,is it helping anyones acne?
I agree, at this point, I don't think anyone could read through the whole thread, it would literally take hours. Could someone who's been involved in this thread for a while kind of summarize what the results have been for people so far?
It didn't work for me but I didn't get to the 6th week mark. Because my acne was getting worse by the 4th week and I got really upset so I just quit. It might have helped had I lasted but now I'll never know.
It's common to get worse before you get better. You put a lot of effort into the smoothies. Maybe you could try them again but only drink half the daily dose, that way, you'd slow down your detox. If you could get through that initial phase, you might notice a real difference. 🙂
As for peoples' results.... it'd be nice if people would post theirs, but most don't. As a general rule though, cutting out junk food, limiting your intake of animal products, and eating fruit and plenty of vegetables (especially green veggies) will make a noticeable difference in one's skin and overall health. If you don't like the idea of green smoothies, you could make veggie soups (blend half the veggies for higher nutrient absorption), eat steamed veggie, etc. I eat about 1.5 - 2 pounds of vegetables a day. My meals are centered around vegetables, and I love it! 🙂

What was your diet like in general? while you tried the smoothies?

Great question. Eating healthy can be so simple and tasty, and I really think it's vital for having good skin. I made a delicious veggie soup today in under 20 minutes that will last me for several days. It's perfect for summertime as well, because it's not too heavy.
* 1 quart carrot/orange juice (mostly carrot I think) as the base
* 1 lb frozen broccoli blended with juice
* 2 small zucchinis blended with juice
* 1 lb frozen mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) added to soup
* Lentils
* turmeric, cinnamon, vegizest (dried veggie powder) added - these flavorings taste awesome with the base!!
* Cream (equal parts cashews to unsweetened soy milk) Optional - still delicious without this.
my diet was I wouldn't eat junk until on sundays. I stopped eating as much as I used to. My diet wasn't exactly perfect nor clean. I ate vegetables but they were prepared with sauce and stuff and so was the meat or fish. so yeah I guess that's considered unhealthy diet.
it could be part of the detox, which is good, but I'm not sure I can take it because it got my acne from mild to pretty bad.

I'm so sorry you're acne got so bad. 🙁 🙁 🙁 Were the animal products you were eating hormone free? If not, that could be a factor.
For sauces, an easy basic sauce recipe is to blend 1 cup unsweetened soy milk (or almond milk) with 1 cup cashews, and then add whatever spices you want. So, for veggies, you could do the basic recipe with a few tablespoons of minced onions or galic - for salad dressing, add in dijon mustard, lemon juice and garlic (tastes like Caesar dressing!) - for a coleslaw dressing, add turmeric and lemon juice... the options are endless, and this is a very healthy sauce/dressing as you're not getting processed oils. 🙂
could have been the milk but I can't tell now and probably some other foods. I don't think it has made much of a difference since I stopped drinking it though.
Depending on how much milk you had, yes, that could defintely be a contributing factor for sure. Many do better with acne when they're off dairy.
If you really like milk, there are definitely alternatives like soy and almond milk, and by adding nuts, you can make some really creamy dressings/sauces. 🙂
If you like butter, try Butter Buds (found in the spice section) - they're awesome!
Instead of ice cream, I make fruit sorbets with soy milk. For example, I'll blend one bag of frozen cherries with 1 or 2 dates, about 1/4-1/2 cup soy milk, 1 1/2 heaping teaspoons cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Awesome! 🙂
Going out to get some greens from the store to try this smoothie !!Glad to hear that and diet helped your acne.
My family always laugh when I try to make fruit smoothies.
LOL better than me getting looks from my sister and the like when I told them I'm making green smoothies they kept looking at me like wtf and told me not to drink it lol, but i still did.

That's great!! Let me know if I can be of any help! You might want to start with a small handful of baby spinach (it's the mildest tasting green). Hope it goes well! 🙂

LOL!!! My brother always laughed at me whenever he saw me making them - but in a good way of course. haha You can disguise the color by adding dark fruit like berries. I use to make green smoothies for my brother without him knowing there were any greens in them! hehehe
ohh good, this post is back. i tried making smoothies but they never came out real good.i tried different fruits too. like 1 time:
1 banana
handful of strawberries
some yogurt
protein powder
It just wasnt yummy enough. and my "magic bullet" isnt that big.
Hmm.... how about doing:
2 bananas (or 1 banana and a pear, or 1 banana and an apple)
handful frozen strawberries
1/4-1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla soymilk (I like Westsoy, and this really adds some flavor)
1 handful baby spinach leaves
1 1/2 cups water
honey, stevia, or best of all, dates, to sweeten (dates may not blend in the magic bullet though)
It took me several tries before I was able to make great tasting smoothies - the key for me in the begining was using sweet, frozen fruits and mild tasting greens. Good luck! 🙂
Thanks! soymilk sounds good. mmm. there is that conflict that it messes up hormones though. who knows lol
It's really good! Yes, there's definitely a lot of conflict about it. There is also lots of evidence though that those statements are untrue. Regardless, I try not to make soy a big part of my diet...because who knows who's really right! 🙂
I started doing this like three days ago.
Im not too sure itll do anything for my acne but i feel pretty good so far health wise, ive noticed an increase in mood, sleeping a little better, senses a little sharper.
I use alot of spinach and not too much fruit dont want to over do the sugar.
Ill probably do this for the rest of my life now,its so easy, cant see why ive never done it before, better then taking a multivitamin. the vitamins from the smoothie are probably actually absorbed!!!

That is so great - I love hearing that. I do still take a multi-vitamin, but I mostly eat a vegan diet, so I want to make sure I'm getting things like B12. My vitamin is food based. I'm so glad you're feeling better doing the smoothies!!
That's a great idea!! I love how you describe them as fruit smoothies with greens added - that's such a simple way to describe them in which people will understand. 🙂Thank you! You inspired me to drink smoothies and I am very grateful! I have about 1 week worth of different recipes to post, and I thought a group on the topic would be nice, since on forums pages tend to accumulate and people don't want or have the time to read 40 pages...
I am very happy to have inspired you!! A green smoothie recipe topic is a great idea!! I agree.... this thread has gotten *really* long!! haha
i'm sad to say this, but drinking 2-3 cups of green smoothies almost every day didn't help with my acne even little bit. i did this for 4 months straight. i always used either kale, spinach, or romaine lettuce.
but i do believe that cutting down on my sugar intake does have some effect on my acne.
