Yes it's making much more sense. thanks
So I guess the main point of the drink is just so you get the two handful of greens correct? Because I kept thinking the importance was in the amount of drinks I had.
Because if so I got more than a 2 handful of greens LOL. and it was only like 5 cups.
And your such a big help I'm sorry if my constant questions are annoying

No worries Mate! hehe 🙂 Yes, for you starting out, I would keep the focus on 2 handfuls of greens. If your skin clears up after a few weeks, you can then go down to 1 handful a day. Too funny that you were getting in several handfuls. haha It certainly can't hurt though!!
Don't worry about the questions. I'd rather people ask if they're confused about something rather than give up on the smoothies. I'm glad you're wanting to get the most benefit that you can from them. I sure hope they work out for you!! 🙂
Let me know how you like them when you start making them! 🙂

LOL I actually started making them on monday LOL. I just kept asking questions because I was so confused because my two handful of greens comes out to two smoothies LOL. I guess my hand is small? LOL xD which is why I asked all those questions. Well I find spinach with orange so far is the best I'm gonna try it with apple later. I tried with cantaloupe but it doesn't taste as good as orange I guess it's the sweetness of the orange that makes it taste good. But yeah the main reason I kept asking questions was because I get 2 handfuls but it comes out to two smoothies possibly because you use a smaller cup? I dunno lol either way I you're really great help!

Sorry! I do remember you mentioning a while back a spinach/orange smoothie you made. Don't worry about the questions - no problem! The main thing to concern yourself with is that you're getting two large handfuls a day of spinach along with some fruit... I'm guessing one handful is about a cup.... mine vary all the time I'm sure. 🙂 Oh, and by cup, I don't mean a drinking cup, I mean one cup size according to a measuring cup: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measuring_cup . You're probably used to the metic system of measurement, so you would use pints instead, but again, no need to worry about that anyway.
Keep experimenting with the smoothies - you'll soon discover what flavors you like. 🙂
My personal fitness teacher told me that lettuce doesn't have any or little nutritional value , maybe putting it in a blender will give it more .
So I bought Lettuce , I don't know what kind of lettuce it is but it looks like a big green brain in a wrap in plastic . How much lettuce do I need to put into the blender?

I'm SO glad you asked me about this!! I hope the comment by your fitness teacher wasn't said to the whole class, because it's sad that such misinformation would be given out about a nutritous food like lettuce. Iceberg lettuce (which is what you bought) is virtually void of nutrition, however, dark greens lettuces, like romaine have lots of nutrition. Most lettuce has good nutrition - just avoid the "iceberg" variety. 🙂
My my look at all these people getting such good info about smoothies through this post. Since most of us have a hard time getting enough veggies and fruit into our diet the smoothie method is perfection.
Frozen blueberries+ raspberries+ kiwi have taken my #1 smoothie spot.

Thanks for such an uplifting comment! 🙂
Thanks for your smoothie recipe too!! I have yet to try that one but will soon! 🙂 I looove kiwi, especially after it become really ripe, because then, it tastes just like candy.
I dunno but I haven't seen any improvements =/ but here's the thing I'm gonna TRY my best to stick out for at least 6 weeks but the one problem I have is I'm wondering if it's not really working because I'm drinking the green smoothies with fish oil and b5. Do you think it's because of those pills? (mostly it could be just the B5 burning the nutrients? I dunno just a thought) I just wanted to see what was your insight on it. But if this doesn't work out I guess I'll just try other ways lately there seems to be a lot of new methods although I guess you have to try to see if it works.

Yeah, it's hard to say whether it'll work for you this soon - give it some time. 🙂 Adding the fish oil and B5 should be just fine, although I don't know the effects of taking B5 with other nutrients, but I would think it's okay. Maybe just take it at another time of the day if you're concerned. I'm really glad you're going to give the smoothies a good 6 weeks! I really hope they work out for you!! 🙂
Thanks 😀 But I wanted to ask were there any small changes to your skin after drinking the smoothies for a week?
It was over a year ago, so I don't remember too well. What I do remember is that I had a few breakouts when I started the smoothies. I soon started noticing that I wasn't getting any new breakouts. I can't remember exactly when, but I do know it was after I had been doing them for about 4-6 weeks.
6 weeks will go by so quickly for you, and the smoothies are so healthy to do anyway. Are you liking them okay? For me, they taste good, so it's not something I dread doing, unless I'm just feeling too tired to make one! haha If you're not enjoying yours and are having other challenges, please let me know so I can help. 🙂
Nope I can't stand them at all =/ actually scratch that I can stand the ones made from romaine and spinach(not exactly my heaven but it's okay tasting) I don't see much difference and I've actually broken out more but I dunno. Maybe it's because I'm eating both b5 and fish oil combined with the smoothies. I think I'm gonna start a skincare journal and stop the pills for a while. I dunno gotta think this over.

Hmmm.... I'm thinking we just need to fine tune your recipes a bit. You can let me know what combos you're doing, and I'll try to help. Since you're not liking them all that much, I would go ahead and cut down to just one handful a day of greens. Use spinach for now, since it has a milder taste and is "loaded" with helpful nutrients - more so than most lettuce. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=f...ritionalprofile . Spinach is what I mostly used in the beginning, and it's a lot more nutrient dense that romaine lettuce - has a LOT more vitamin A as well, which might be why it's so awesome for great skin! I do NOT want you to get discouraged and give up on the smoothies (that almost happened to me!!!) - I really think they can help your condition. 1 handful a day might be all you need to see an improvement. Down the road, when you get more used to the green flavor, you can add more greens and more variety if you want. For now, let's just focus on you getting your greens the tastiest way possible. You might want to try focusing on sweet fruits as well, as they will really diguise the green flavor. The smoothies really CAN taste good! Ok... so, the following is what I suggest:
1-2 "sweet" base fruits, like apples, pears, bananas....
1/4- 1/2 pint of "sweet" frozen fruit, like pineapple, peaches, mangoes, tropical mix.....
1 handful of spinach
Cinnamon, honey, or liquid stevia
Water
The fish oil should be fine - is it a high quality fish oil without mercury, etc? I don't know much about B5, but I would think you're getting plenty from food. If you're concerned, sunflower seeds are a GREAT source. They are highly nutritious, and I love them with a few chocolate chips thrown in. 🙂 http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=n...=87#foodsources .
What are you doing skin care wise? Paula Begoun, skin care expert, has TONS of great information at her website. She really researches everything out there in the hopes of getting the truth to people. I learned so much at her website. She also does reviews of skin care lines, so that you can know what lines are well formulated and which ones aren't. There are several at the drugstore that she recommends. This article of hers if very informative about how to take care of acne prone skin: http://www.paulabegoun.com/learn/art.asp?ID=138
I don't remember the smoothies making my skin worse before it got better, but who knows - I just remember when it cleared up! Sometimes starting a new healthy diet can make things worse for a short while before they get better, so that could be the case here too.
I used 2 apples, 2 cucombers, and a handful of broccoli. Added 2 cups of cranberry juice to mix it with instead of water. Does that sound right?
As long as you can tolerate eating veggies and fruit together, that is fine. The only thing is that you really need to add some leafy greens to it - leafy greens are the staple of green smoothies. Leafy greens are things like spinach, romaine lettuce, kale, collard greens, chard, etc. The leafy greens are the most important thing in your smoothie.
You might want to make sure that your cranberry juice doesn't contain added sugar. Fruit juices are highly concentrated and are very high in natural sugars. I actually avoid fruit juice for that reason.

My juice says "DOES NOT CONTAIN ADDED SURE". I made sure of that. Thanks for the leafy greens tip, I will go out and buy some spinach. The smoothie tasted pretty good. Kind of like apple sauce actually.

You're welcome! Spinach will be great to start out with - I think you'll like it. 🙂
After reading that new post on how I should wait to drink between meals I'm wondering should I add water? Then again I guess either way it becomes liquid xD
That's a topic of controversy - I would just do whichever you prefer.
How are the smoothies going for you? Are you liking them any better?
