Ok cool.

Another quick question:

I've been using 2 apples, a handful of mixed berries (always blueberries), 1 banana, and 1 kiwi

I then mix in about 2 handfuls of the greens 1-2 leaves at a time.

I've been drinking this all at once for breakfast (sometimes shortly before my next 'real' meal). Is this a problem?

The smoothies definetly seem to be helping, only time will tell :)

No, that's great!! I like drinking mine in the morning too - I'm in the mood for it then and don't seem to be so much later in the afternoon/evening. You're using about 1 1/2 more servings of fruit than I use - you could maybe do a bit more greens, but as long as you're getting in at least 1 large handful a day, that should be plenty - that's what I get a day. 🙂 I'm really glad you think they're helping!! Keep us updated! 🙂

today was my third day of drinking green smoothie.

i just took a shower and as i was washing my face, i noticed that my cheeks have become sooo soft and smooth! atcually, i'm just prone to acne in my T zone especially nose and chin and not my cheeks. however, they weren't as smooth as they were few days ago. could it be that the smoothie is working already??!! :) or is this just coincidence? my pimples haven't seen any improvement though. well, i'm just going to keep making the smoothie and see what happens in another week or so!

I've been making ice/fruit/yogurt/milk smoothies for a couple of years. I use them to hide the taste of some less appetizing things i need to consume.

After reading about the green smoothie, I realized I don't eat enough green leafy vegetables. Regardless of it's effect on acne, it's a great idea.

I threw in a big load of romaine lettuce and tons of other stuff. Basically, I went to the grocerie and picked up everything that looked decent. After blending it looked like guacaomole and tasted quite delicious. It was a little bitter but I'm not a big guy on sweets so it was still very pleasant.

Strangely, it completely masked the taste of all items I used to try to hide in the fruit/yogurt smoothies, but the fruit/yogurt smoothies always tasted a little off when I add the nasty stuff.

Thanks again, Independant Thinker. :)

The smoothies didn't work that quickly for me, but who knows! I'm glad you're seeing improvement! 🙂 I'm excited about what your results will be in another few weeks! 🙂

Aww, you are so welcome really new guy! I am so thrilled to hear you're liking them and that they are disguising the nasty stuff so well for you - that's awesome! I love hearing such positive feedback. 🙂 Since you like a bit of a bitter taste, you might also like adding some garlic and onions... sounds like a strange combination with fruit, haha, but it's actually really good!

independent thinker,

did you apply any cream/medication on your acne after you've started drinking green smoothie?

Thank you to all those who posted the green smoothie information. I always ate a healthy diet therefore didn't think I would see a difference but I have! My skin looks so much healthier, it has kind of glow to it. I also feel amazing. My skin looks nurished.

I've been drinking smoothies everyday since the start of October or thereabouts (when I first noticed this thread anyway). Admittedly, I can't really say it's done wonders for my skin (complexion wise etc). But hey, it's healthy and tastes great to boot haha

Sure! 🙂

independent thinker,

No, but I did switch skin care lines around the same time (to Paula Begoun's acne line), and so at first, I wasn't sure if it was the smoothies or the skin care line. After testing it out several different times though by going several day without the smoothies, I'd start to break out again, so I figured out that it's definitely the smoothies. I think what you put on your skin is important though too, and Paula's are non acne aggravating. However, her products alone don't do the trick - no skin care products worked for me - I have to do the smoothies too.

That is so wonderful!! 🙂 I love hearing such great news!! Thanks for sharing this with us! 🙂

I'm glad you're liking the smoothies so much! How much are you drinking a day, and what quantity of greens would you say you eat a day in your smoothie? How much fruit? Do you drink them everyday, and it the rest of your diet fairly healthy without hydrogenated oils and lots of animal products? Sorry for all the questions - just curious as to why you haven't experienced more positive results with your skin yet - maybe they just haven't fully kicked in yet! 🙂

Well I would not assume that everyone is going to see results, regardless of the unrefutable fact that the smoothies are good for the body as a whole. Everyone has different skin. I, for one, can't tell anything about a glow. When it comes to my skin, I see acne or I dont see acne. At the moment I'm still seeing acne. Then again, I've only been on them for two weeks so I just don't know yet. But these things are great anyway, so I dont see any reason to stop.

Well, Dr. Joel Fuhrman (mentioned on the first post) really advices greens for those with acne, so I think for the most part, they should do the trick for most people. Of course, it helps to be eating a fairly healthy diet as well. I drank about 7 cups the first month I was on them - maybe that why my results showed up within 6 weeks. I so want this drink to work for everyone!! 🙂

It's been a week now and I don't see any improvment. I drink more than 4 cups a day and my ratio fruits/greens is probably 40/60 if not more green. Anyway I don't give up because they're nice anyway!

I didn't see any improvement the first week either! You need to give them at least 6 weeks, but I'm glad you're willing to hang in there! I agree with you that they're nice to do regarless. When I orginially started doing the green smoothies, I didn't do them thinking they'd help my skin - I did them for health reasons - clear skin was a wonderful surprise! 🙂

It's great to hear people are enjoying the drinks. I am too.

This is my third day and my bowel has never been this loose unless I've got diarrhea. I'm scared to sit down for fear of having a reflex shit. I've been trying to dump at work as much as I can because I don't want to burn through all of my TP.

This thread helped me realize how deficient I am of certain nutrients. I think it's a wonderful idea. I hope it helps my acne but, even if not, it's still great to pick up a few nutritional items that I had been neglecting.

The more soluable fibre you consume the more solid your poo

The more insoluable fibre you consume the more liquidy your poo

Green smoothies contain lots of insoluable fibre

How long will you be gone? If it's just a few days, I wouldn't worry too much. Although they certainly can't come close to comparing, you could take green powders with you and drink V8. Also, there are some small, travel size blenders - you could take that and then just buy produce when you get there (that would be my first choice). You could also bring some lettuce into a smoothie shop and ask them to add it to a fruit smoothie for you (while they look at you like you're from another planet I'm sure, haha).

Is it true your skin turns green if you eat to many greens?

I heard that mixing fruit and vegetable juice makes you fart like a hippo. Is this true? I prefer fruit juice in the morning and vegetable juice in the afternoon.

Yeah.... I hope so!! A week would be too long for me, but maybe with some V8 and some green capsules, you'll be alright! Good luck, and have fun!! 🙂

All i had in the fridge was an apple and a ton of mixed organic greens, so I threw in about five big handfuls of the greens and blended it with the apple. it was orgasmic. quick too!
