I have to have my wisdom teeth taken out in a couple of days time. Stupid how one of the things I'm 'worried' over is that there will be people incredibly close to my face under bright light for at least an hour. I know it doesn't matter and they'll be focused on their job, but it's just annoying how having acne makes you overly aware or concerned about these sort of things. I'm sure people without skin issues or concerns about appearance wouldn't think twice about it - the thought probably wouldn't cross their mind.

I feel the same way about any dental visit too! You're right though, they really don't care. I think in all actuality, we see our flaws much more than others. Hope your procedure goes well.

leelowe1, same here with yet another pimple appearing on the side of my nose. One below my nose exploded on its own and I helped it along yesterday. I was just feeling better about that, telling myself it will heal up and be gone in a few days. Now there's a new one so the whole thing can start all over. :( Ugh.

It's a really old clogged pore this time that has turned into a small red bump. So maybe this is the last for awhile? That's probably a fool's hope.

I'm sure optimism would be helpful and decrease my stress and stress hormone levels, but, uh... I'm fresh out.

Like I would do anything to not have this.

I'd happily take a karate kick in the nuts if it meant this stopped.

Lol - its hard to stay optimistic when past experiences teach us a different lesson. But that's life i suppose.....got to keep on keeping on. I find in general when it comes to certain areas of our lives, NO EXPECTATIONS is the way to go so that we won't be disappointed.

First of all, I can't believe it took me so long to sign up on acne.org. Finally I am able to interact with people who feel the same...not the individuals around me in real life who have NOT suffered acne or scars, and don't really care or offer sensible advice.

Secondly, it may sound stupid, but I want to send everyone positive thoughts and feelings. I feel so sorry for everyone here (yes myself included) with the suffering we go through.

Finally, as to how I'm feeling about my acne and scars today: quite good actually. Probably because I'm still in bed, and have yet to get up, wash my face, stare into the mirror and face the day. I've got perhaps 15 more minutes of this bliss. Yay.

:/

Feeling great about my acne since I haven't broken out in 3 months now! Spironolactone is my miracle pill, after years of suffering with acne off and on again I can finally say I'm clear!

Just took shirt off and acted confident, the dark marks from past acne didn't draw any attention at all, was a nonfactor. Really mad at myself for fearing going to pools/beaches this summer.

ugh noticing loads of clogged pores / tiny whiteheads today across my nose and forehead. It's the sort of breakout I'd get from using a new skin product or makeup that my skin didn't like. I haven't been doing anything different with my skin in the past few days or using new products so I've no idea why I'm breaking out like this. It's not too bad though because they're small but they're annoying - especially when they're in addition to my 'normal' larger active spots. Oh well... hopefully it all calms back down again soon. Maybe the antibiotics I have to take after my wisdom teeth removal will give my skin a bit of a helping hand haha

Even though my skin has been improving at a rapid fire pace within the past few weeks since starting the Regimen, I can't help but feel that it's too late. My 20's, the best years for finding a BF/husband, are gone. Those years were spent with many huge red cysts that deterred guys away. I'm 30 now. The prospect of having kids seem bleak now since I'm rapidly reaching the age where it's not ideal to have kids anymore. I'm just feeling depressed about it because I can't help but feel the outcome would've been completely different if I didn't have acne. More guys would've been willing to approach me to get to know me if I didn't look like a monster.

I have resorted to a life of eternal singledom. Being the extreme introvert that I am, I guess that can be a good thing.

As much as you 'feel' this way, you have to break out of that way of thinking or else it will become your reality. My feelings lie to me all the time telling me, 'you're ugly, you're not good enough, no one wants you' but you know what, i choose how to present myself and I am not any of those things in spite of acne. All those things you want are available to you so keep on telling yourself you're worth it even if you don't 'feel' like that.

I am 100% confident that acne is caused by over-cleansing. Especially if face wash or soaps are used, but even if just water and finger tips are used too often or too harshly, or if the water is hot.

My face gets very dirty, sweaty, oily, dusty, etc. etc. all day at work but I've been just rinsing in the shower once a day and my skin has never looked better.

Internally, I think the only thing that can affect your skin is actual allergic reactions to food. If it makes your face flush and/or itch, I could see that inflammation leading to bad skin.

hi everyone, hope you're all coping well. I don't post on this thread that often anymore, but today I'm having a particularly hard day. My career and everything I worked hard for is falling apart, and I feel that everything else in my life will soon fall apart as well no matter what I do. If you have any motivational quotes, no matter how cheesy or cliched, feel free to throw them at me. I'll take anything at this point

Hi WishClean,

I'm new here and don't know how helpful I can be, but here are some quotes for you that may help.

Thomas Edison: our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

CS Lewis: there are far, far better things ahead than we leave behind.

Vivian Green: Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...but learning to dance in the rain.

I'm really sorry about your hardships with your career. If it is a case of something going wrong, or having made a mistake, maybe you just need to stop, re-evaluate and think of a new way of getting what you want out of your career and life?

I know how something going wrong can make you apprehensive of other things that you depend upon (or that make you happy) falling apart, but if you have suffered hardships before, remember you have dealt with those and come through. If it is the first of significant tribulations you are suffering, then dealing with it positively, and realising that it CAN make you stronger/more determined/open new doors, will help.

But most of all, I can only say chin up, stay strong, we are all more than the immediate. It will get better.

Sometimes cliches, quotes, and positive words don't do much more than kick start a realisation inside the suffering person. That in itself is powerful I believe. So I hope the above quotes can help you somewhat.

Sending you positive thoughts and vibes. Like Vivian Green says...go dance in the rain!! (Unless it is winter or cold....then maybe just dance in your room lol. Dancing makes me happy)

:)

Sorry to hear things are tough for you at the moment. Hope it improves and you're feeling better / in a better frame of mind soon.

As for quotes:

I've always liked this one and found it to resonate with me. I suppose some people wouldn't find it as encouraging or as motivating as I do or compared to other quotes but I thought I'd share it anyway: "In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It Goes On." - Robert Frost.

A few more too...

"Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert H Schuller

What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you. Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them".

You'll be ok regardless of what happens - hang in there

I agree completely with this bit in particular. They can trigger a realisation in some people - probably why I like quotes / finding some nice ones when I'm having a rough time myself.

Love this quote!!! I haven't come across it before, but it is definitely going inside my book of quotes.

I don't have any quotes off hand but know that you are not your career. You're a beautiful child of God and whether or not you believe, he'll provide you with all that you need and help you get through ANY struggle if he doesn't see fit to take it from you . You are a survivor of teh greatest kind so know that This too shall pass and you'll be all the more stronger for it

My heart goes out to you hun

Today I'm feeling hopeful. I have an appointment at a beauty salon next week, maybe they can remove some milia and clogged pores and give some tips to make my skin look better. I'm still pissed that I can't get a decent treatment like a peeling because I've only recently quit accutane.

I was stood in the supermarket queue with all my greens, wheat free products and fruit looking in people's trolleys. All these people with beautiful 'normal' skin with not one green in sight and frozen pizas, fizzy pop and cakes galore. And there I stood with my disfigured skin, head down, thinking "life is such a bitch".

Feeling sad. This battle is never ending and there is no end in sight for me. Thank God for keeping me afloat or else i would be hiding out.....alone. I never thought i would still be dealing with this15 years later. Such is the state of my life.

I'm glad that this worked for you but I have to disagree and say that I highly doubt that most peoples acne are caused by this. There are so many different factors that go into acne that to simplify is as only 1 or 2 things is misleading.

Been there and actually still there. Don't stress it though as eating healthy should be something we all do in spite of our skin. A lot of people will go down the unhealthy route and will never manifest consequences of their lifestyle until its too late.

I'll pay you $100 if you find someone with bad skin who doesn't wash or moisturize it. Think about it - what is bad skin but damaged skin? What is more likely to damage it, the things you put in your mouth or the things you rub directly into your face? When you get something in your eye, the worst thing to do is rub it, as that just irritates it and makes it worse. When you pick a scab it bleeds and takes longer to heal. Why would the skin on your face be any different? The reason some people find success switching to a gentle cleanser and very gently massaging it in has more to do with their gentle approach than the cleanser. They would be just as successful without the cleanser at all.

I'm not disagreeing with you that for some people, cleansers are an issue. That is probably true. But for any of us (I have done water only before), that may not be what is driving our acne.
