Pros:

I didn't find any

Cons:

Made my acne a whole lot worse
Felt unpleasant

I understand that everyones different, but my personal experience of this product was unforunatly not good. A few years ago my acne pretty much dissapeared, so i wanted my scars to go too. I only had a few but i just wanted my skin to be normal again. When i look back i was putting on quite a lot, mainly out of frustration. After about two weeks application i broke out really badly and have lots of scars now as a result. Ironic huh? So my advice is to just be very careful with this product, and that i definatly don't think it's suitable for acne scars.

Pros:

smells good.
lightens scars and spots after acne.
cures dry skin.

Cons:

oily.

worked ok as an all over treatment at first but not too well then i tried it as a spot treatment only. that worked pretty good but not as well as i hoped. so i bought vit e gel and used that as a spot treatment over bio oil which was all over my face that faded them fast like two days not completely gone but much better. use it with another scar treatment morning and night works better than anything else.

Pros:

reduces redness, fades scarring, clears breakouts, prevents breakouts, absorbs quickly into skin, a little goes a long way

Cons:

need to purchase on-line (Ebay is cheapest)

This is my favorite product of all time! I use it on my face, my back, my chest. Under an oil-free moisturizer, this product truly works wonders on my skin. I just suffered a MAJOR breakout thanks to Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Tone Correcting Serum (see my post under this product). Elicina to the rescue! My massive breakout was under control in 2 days! Love this product.

Product used: Emu Oil

Pros:

Softens skin, clears pimples, removes hyperpigmentation/dark spots; essentially, makes skin look younger and it seems to GLOW!!

Cons:

Can only use it at home (when I'm not going out or applying make-up) as it is somewhat greasy (duh it's an oil!!)

For those of you with oily, acne-prone (for me, I call it my Italian-genes skin) skin, please do not be afraid to try this. I have had problems with pimples, blackheads, whiteheads since I was a child (I am now 29) and I know how easy it is for our skin to get these things with products that leave the skin feeling even a little bit greasy (I've used sooo many products that cause blackheads all over, while others claim the product does not cause breakouts). However, I decided to give Emu oil a shot since I didn't have any big plans to go out over the next few weeks and WOW is all I can say! This stuff, even though my face feels greasy as ever while it's on, erased the pimples I had overnight, made the dry areas under my eyes and around my mouth disappear, and best of all- areas where I have problem dark spots (on which I've tried numerous expensive products) are fading like magic. I am a big time pimple picker and have those deep purple spots and they're almost gone on day 3 of Emu Oil!

Works greatly with acne
I have oily skin and was suffering very badly from pimples and subsequent acne. Tried out many creams and face washes. At last bio oil is something which came to my rescue. Now my face is getting clear and I am really happy for this product. Found it online in pretty many sites like Flipkart, Amazon.in, Click on care, Nykaa etc. There are price differences also between them and found Clickoncare has a reasonable price. So got it from them. Now using bio oil for more than an year.

Pros:

Works fast, decreased redness on cheeks, nose, and décolletage with a few uses. With 2x daily use it has started to cleared up newer scars faster than using nothing. I also have noticed that my skin isn't as oily all over, yet is still very soft.

Cons:

I very rarely wear more make-up, other than mascara, because when using the Bio-Oil it tends to slide off after a while. Even the DermaBlend, (which I love!).

Before I used this I read ALL of the posts here. The poster who recommended 3-4 drops is right on when just doing the face, along with the poster who recommended that being sure it was absorbed into the skin. My décolletage has a tendancy to be red from being outside over the summer. I've always had to use foundation to blend with my neck and face, which don't redden. I used 2 drops for this area and after a few days it has decreased significantly. My acne tends to be more hormonal now, but when it kicks in, it REALLY kicks in and I want to hide. The only thing I see that I'm doing different is the asprin mask/exfolliation 1x weekly. I also am using Biore daily wash before and the SPF 30 moisterizer after. Haven't seen any healing with older scars, but I've only just started using this product 3 days ago. I will continue using and post an update if and when my husbands says something, and he will notice. So far I am impressed with this product for the price and visible results in such a short time. Just remember, sometimes a little bit goes a LONG way.

Pros:

Easy to use, fast working, sticks on skin

Cons:

Smelly, thick, greasy

This product is great. I have had acne scars on my back from a recent breakout, I started using this 3 days ago (4 + times a day) and am seriously SHOCKED at how they have already started disapearing. I suggest you purchase this, it was so cheap and I have been telling everyone. If you are suffering from acne scars, get this! The shark liver is pretty smelly but after a bit the smell goes away.

Pros:

cheap, easy to get hold of, gave skin a nice dewy look

Cons:

very oily consistency,, makes your skin greasy

I bought this product because i had minor acne scars on my face, used it for about a month and a half, and at the beginning it did make my skin look nice and was an easy base for make up to be put on, about a month later my skin became horrendously congested! blackheads and little spots erupted all over my cheeks, and when i consulted a dermatologist she said it was because of the oil and that it was clogging my pores. so bottom line, unless you have really dry skin, do not use this, maybe use it on any scars on your body, but definitely not for face! try jojoba oil if you have dry skin on your face, works much better and is cheaper.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
