Pros:

Made my skin feel really good at first.

Cons:

Didn't work. Exfoliating Gel BURNS!!

I was won over by the infomercial and the claims of effectivity and all of those people claiming that it cleared their skin better than ProActiv. The first week of use my skin cleared up totally. Then it got worse. Way worse. After 3 1/2 weeks of use I could not leave my house my face looked so bad. I developed HUGE cystic acne. It was truly the worst my face has ever looked or felt. With one day left on my guarantee I contacted Murad and request to return the bottles and get my money back. This product could work for some people, but it was a NIGHTMARE for me. It took me 3 weeks to get my skin back to where I would leave the house-luckily I work from home! I ended up with scarring all over the left side of my face, which is embarrassing considering I am in my late 20's and have always been praised for my flawless skin (thanks to the use of ProActiv or Klear Action for 8 years)

Cons:

Pros:

has massively controled my skin and 3 weeks on it im almost completely clear except for small whiteheads on my forehead but their going away. the only thing that has worked for me so far. i didnt go through purging stage.

Cons:

using the acne treatment gel once a night still dried my skin out so i only use it every other night.

IF YOU WANT CLEAR SKIN WITH MURAD READ MY REVIEW! started using murad 3 weeks ago and prayed that this would work for me because ive tried so many diffrent products and none of them worked to my standards. im 15 years old and i dont care what i have to pay to get clear skin , i just wanted clear skin because i was tired of hearing "oh you should use proactiv it works or other acne products" when in fact i had been using it and it was not working. i tried acne free didnt work, neither did model acne cream, juliets all natural face scrub, clean n clear, neutrogena, carleys clean and smooth. over a period of a year. murad i started using it 2x a day and the acne gel only once a day i was seeing clearer skin in 3 days and on the 6th day 4 new big pimples showed up. so i started using the acne gel only once every other night and the cleanser and lotion twice a day every day. wala i havent had this good skin in a long time. i think people get bad results because they overuse the acne gel.

Pros:

Loved the mask.

Cons:

Expensive and made my skin WORSE.

I use to use proactiv but needed something new. I was up late watching infomercials and saw a thing for murad. I thought I would try it and begged my mom to order it. I started using it and within a few days I got a bad breakout. But I figured that was normal because that happens when you try something new. I was wrong. It made my skin worse and if I could take back using it I will. Honestly, dont try this product. It was WAY to pricey and even when my mom cancelled my account they still billed her. I strongly believe this product ruined my skin and I strongly regret usuing it.

Pros:

You only leave it on for 10 minutes,Reduces your red pimples.Reduces the size of the pimple. Leaves your skin smooth and soft

Cons:

The smell, yuck! If you use it on your whole face you look funny, that's it!

It's a great product! The best i've ever used. I don't know about anyone else, but my face was full of acne, and this really really helped. They should advertise refiner mask more than the cleanse , toner and lotion. This is great!

Pros:

It gets rid of redness fast and brings down the size, its way better than the other products.

Cons:

Its a bit pricey and it uses up fast.

It works but they should have it for cheaper or have a bigger bottle. Dont get the other proactiv stuff.

Pros:

Gets rid of oil; Face feels fresher.

Cons:

Causes more pimples if you use it on your whole face.

I don't really know about this product of theirs. It isn't something I use all the time. When I do, it just seems to give me more pimples where there wasn't any before. I guess sulfur is a no no for my skin. However it does make my face feel a lot fresher after I finish using it. Also gets rid of excess oil on my nose and forehead. (I'm saying not reccomended just cause the type my skin is doesn't like sulfur I guess)

Pros:

glycolic acid is awesome.

Cons:

aloe vera makes me break out bad!!

UPDATE - UGH. DON'T DO IT!! it only got clearer when i used the moisturizing acne lotion instead of the exfoliating acne gel...and that was *clearer* mind you, not clear! when i alternated back to the gel i broke out again worse than ever...then i found out its FULL OF ALOE VERA. some people say aloe is fine for their acne, but for most people its terribly aggravating, and the fact that dr. murad made it the 3rd ingredient in his main treatment is rediculous. so, mystery solved, its not just purging, its the aloe vera that's giving everyone these horrible bumps and pustules everywhere. the glycolic acid combined with the salycilic acid really does give you a lovely even tone, but if you're covered in zits what's the point?? there are other products that use glycolic acid. because of murad my skin has been the worst its ever been for 2 months, i have to go get microdermabrasion, i'm on antibiotics, and i'm praying proactive will fix it because PROACTIVE REALLY WORKS. no gimmicks.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
