Pros:

Smells alright.

Cons:

Does not work at all.

I used this product completely correctly, following the instructions and not missing any treatments for 60 days and I saw ZERO change. I wonder with all the negative reviews I see here and my own personal experience how it ever sells.

Cons:

This product makes you break out even more! It leaves your skin all red and burns when you apply the toner.

Don't listen to the people on tv and do not purchase!!!

Pros:

Made my actual skin texture very smooth and even shrank my pores.

Cons:

SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS! This product is way too freakin expensive, it took forever to clear up any pimples I had, it made me get HUGE cystic pimples that scarred my skin, and it just plain didn't work after using it for 4 months. Purge process is a lie!

The bottom line is that the Dr. Murad acne system is HORRIBLE. Do not buy this unless you think you are a part of the 1% of people this works for. I still can't get over the price of this stuff and how little the actual treatment container is. Geez. Just don't do it people. Don't!

Pros:

Family members noted that my face is clearer...

Cons:

The cost.

It all really depends on the person. It worked for me, but it wasn't 100% clear. I still had a few things pop in here and there and the irony of it all was that when I actually had to go out somewhere, my face wouldn't be as clear as it would be earlier that week. And it happens everytime I have an event to go to. I would recommend this, but I'd have to say that you be cautious. 'Cause it might work for some. I started using the during fall of 07' up til spring of this year. And til this day, my face isn't exactly cleared, but it doesn't give me bad breakouts.

Pros:

Didn't dry out my skin
Product went far and lasted long

Cons:

Made acne worse! Four months later and the damage is still visible on my face...

I had heard that Murad was superiour to Proactive (which I am now trying), so I gave it a try. I got the usual "just-began-using-the-product" breakout, which didn't worry me much. Until a month later when it hadn't gone away, and actually began to get worse and more serious. My normal acne was moderate, but not scaring and painful. After a month of Murad, I had less bumps overall, but they were HUGE and deep and painful and scared me. I stopped using it and just used a simple cleanser, astringent and tea tree oil moisturizer for TWO MONTHS to get the pain to go away and to get back to my "regular" acne. Be warned, you actually need to HEAL after using this product it is SO damaging to your skin!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
