Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

Make my skin feel soft. Nice smell.

Cons:

Makes me break out and get painful cystic pimples.

I used this for a few weeks. After the first week, my face broke out even more with gross, red, and painful cystic pimples. I figured that was the first step in the process for getting rid of them with this product, but boy was I wrong. The next week, I had even MORE pimples and I had red patches all over. So I discontinued using it and the redness eventually went away. Now I use the Olay Foaming Face Wash for Senstive Skin (every night and morning), and the Clean & Clear Persa Gel 10 (once every night). They work FANTASTICALLY. I also use the Purpose face moisturizer a few minutes after putting the BP on so my face doesn't get very dry.

Pros:

Cleared my skin, doesn't dry skin out!

Cons:

Cost, but common... all good acne stuff is pricey.

I used Proactiv the regular formula for almost two years, it SEVERELY dried me skin out so I stopped using it and began breaking out again. I heard about the Gentle formula and decided to give it a try... it is INCREDIBLE! It took about 2 weeks to clear my skin fully and since then I have only had one single break out - it keeps my skin really hydrated, and I like that the night lotion has a tingly zing to it, it kinda feels cool. So far this product has been the only thing where I didn't need another outside brand moisturizer.

I always come back to it...reliable results
I've tried others, I ALWAYS wind up coming back to this. It consistently keeps my acne to a minimum without backfiring and causing more acne a week or so later, it just keeps working. It's actually milder than their "mild" bar, which is good, because that bar can be a little too drying. I recently started using a Clarisonic and chose to use this as my cleanser choice. The Clarisonic can drive your cleanser deeper into your pores and this one I trusted not to cause any clogging. I can also use this occasionally on my back and shoulders with a back brush and it keeps my skin looking healthy, clear and polished. I really love this soap. I highly recommend it.

Worst thing i have ever tried
If i could help one person by writing this review, i will be content. Last year i did not wash my face, not even in the shower. However 10 months ago i came across this wash in the bathroom and my mom had been using it for her acne. I tried it once and i loved how smooth it made my skin. I ended up purchasing over 15 of these and i used this for over 6 months, because i loved how smooth it made my skin. It was the only product i ever used. After the 3rd month of using my skin became itchy, dry and painful. So i bought a moisturiser, and it helped. I continued to use and i remember very clearly i started getting cysts on my cheeks, and i freaked out and starting using this more. 10 months after, i now have moderate cystic acne and i am going back to using water and natural products on my face, however my face will NEVER be the same. Please do NOT use this. If your skin is fine and you dont use anything on it, or if you're using something gentle STICK WITH IT. Less is more.

Pros:

-leaves skin soft
-no real smell

Cons:

-doesn't clear up acne... AT ALL!
-getting whiteheads
-doesn't come off easy
-waste of money

Don't buy this!!! All it does is make your acne worse. I started using it every hour in gigantic amounts and it SUCKED. I wanted to get my skin clear before school started. Now I have bumps literally all over my face and one huge whitehead on my chin that is NOT going to go away in two days. I wanted to change myself before school because I made a fool out of myself last year and didn't want to do it again. I might just get away with the new clothes and hair if I'm lucky, but my acne isn't going ANYWHERE. It's been sitting on my face for a third of my entire life. Thanks for ruining the seventh grade for me, Clearasil. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!

You're an idiot if you seriously thought your acne would go away in two days. Your review is seriously stupid considering you didn't follow directions. It never said to use it every f**king hour. It says use only once a day and slowly increase to two or three times maximum. NOT EVERY HOUR. Your expectations were unrealistic and you're stupid.

Pros:

Clear up the acne
Smells good

Cons:

None

I had a bad break out for the past 4 months, (well, actually i have been struggling with acne for 12 years now on and off) and really run out of the cream that my doctor gave me back home in Indonesia so I tried a few product to ease the redness and swelling with no satisfying result until I found this product. I have been using it for 1 week and it has reduced the big fat acne, small pimple, whitehead and blackhead significantly. I used this in the morning and BP 10% at night and very happy with the result. Yes it cause dryness but it is easily solve with simple moiturizer once a day over the daily face lotion. Really recommended this product to the others who suffers from a bad acne.

Pros:

Keeps skin clean and controls oil
Skin has cleared quickly using the bar soap rather than the foam

Cons:

No cons! I love it

It is a little expensive and hard to find sometimes, but I think it's worth it. It makes my skin nice and clean and controls my oil well. I have noticed my skin get much better after using the bar soap rather than the foam for some strange reason. Not using the whole 3 step Anti Blemish as my skin has cleared. Using this soap in conjunction with the Type 3 - Combination/Oily Clarifying Moisture Lotion as I was finding my skin was getting a bit dry using the harsh alcohol Anti Blemsish Lotion.

Pros:

-saw immediate results
-no acne has returned since using the product
-it's inexpensive
-easy to use
-it fades acne scars
-it WORKS

Cons:

-some may feel the product is a little "harsh" though I kind of liked it because it feels like NO acne could possibly SURVIVE this product!

I don't really have acne problems except for on my chin, however, this has been a problem area for me for some time. I tried many different products and nothing helped. I even tried different brands of astringents which I would have though would have dried them out, but none worked. I tried Oxy on a whim and I am SO glad I did! I had maybe 5 or 6 pimpled on my chin when I tried it. I used the product and went to sleep. The next morning 3 of the pimples had gone completely FLAT. There was nothing left of them. The 2 that had remained took about a week to go away (I think this was my fault though, cause I was picking at them!) Oxy had gotten rid of my VERY stubborn acne and now I am acne FREE! Note: I used one Oxy pad in the morning and one at night, nothing else. I am also really bad for sticking to regimens, but this was really easy for me. I also don't usually right reviews, I actually came to this website and set up an account, so I could specifically right this review!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
