Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

•Hasn't caused acne
•Refreshing
•Great price for a great product
•Doesn't smell that bad
•It actually works!

Cons:

None whatsoever.

I recently bought the package, Burt's Bees Acne Solutions which includes the Cleanser, Lotion, and the Spot Treament which is to use for the trouble areas. So far, it's been FANTASTIC even though I've been using it for a couple of days! I've been having trouble with acne for a couple of years now... And all the products I've been using just made it worse. I never tried using Proactive - I was too scared to because of all the reviews it got! At least 5 of my friends had terrible results because of this product. So that's why I never used it :) Anyways, the Burt's Bees Acne Solutions package is a definite MUST-HAVE! When I washed my face with the Cleanser, my skin felt so refreshed and brand new! I don't have serious problems with acne at all... Maybe an occasional breakout here & there but not much. This product is really helping me maintain this clear skin I already have - a few blackheads I got literally shrunk & disappeared :D I know lots of you don't like the packaging of this product, but for me it's no biggy. STEPS FOR USING PACKAGE PRODUCT: 1. Squirt at least a nickel-sized portion of the Cleanser into the palm of your hand. Run into your hands until it turns soapy-like & white. Lather onto face & after 10 seconds on your face, wash COMPLETELY off. 2. Tilt the Lotion to its side and squirt a penny-sized portion. If you squirt it straight up, it misses your hand and goes all over the bottle. Rub it on your hand and PAT the lotion all over your face. If you rub it on your face, it'll be too much lotion you're applying. 3. For the small bottle (Spot Treatment), tilt it to its side and squirt about 5 droplets onto a cotton ball or square. DAB it onto the worst areas of your face which has the most trouble spots. 4. Wash your hands! These instructions I created on how to apply the package Acne Solutions (which includes the Cleanser, Lotion, and small bottle - Sp

Pros:

-light
-nice foam
-very gentle
-does what it says it will do.
-i got it for a SUPER cheap price.
-Has salicylic acid but its very calming which i LOVE.

Cons:

nothing really, except that results might take longer depending on your own unique skin.
-if you have dry skin/ sensitive skin, it might make you a little bit dry, so I recommend to have a face lotion with you if you use this, but it's worth it.

I started using this about 3 weeks ago. At first, it seemed that all it did was make your skin feel clean... but after the first week, I did notice my skin to be VISIBLY smoother! My acne breakouts have reduced significantly. I used to use the clearasil overnight wash with this, but i ditched the clearasil (it was WAY too drying when i used them both and i needed a LOT of lotion to make it better). I use this alone now and it's really great! So, with this wash, my face looks incredibly smooth, and at least for me; my acne breakouts have subsided alot. This is definitely a great face wash to try!!

Pros:

-Clears all blackheads on nose
-Shrinks and ultimately eliminates existing acne
-Does not dry out skin

Cons:

-Does not clear blackheads on chin

I absolutely love this product. My skin is freaky: regular Cetaphil dries it out to the point of uncontrollable flaking, but after I use this product I barely need a moisturizer. I think it is because it does not contain sodium laureth sulfates...the super drying ingredient that gives Cetaphil it's foamy lather. In order for this product to work, this is how you should use it!!! : Instead of wetting your face, scrubbing for twenty seconds, and rinsing, wet your face and massage in the cleanser, and then leave it to dry for about ten minutes. Then rinse it off. As long as your skin is not sensitive, this should work wonders because it is given time to actually penetrate the pores. I have no zits and few blackheads after using this product!

Pros:

Smells nice
Affordable
Cleared oil and dirt
Cleans deep
Leaves skin feeling smooth and GREAT afterwards

Cons:

Overdries face slightly if used too often

I've used several other products such as Biore, St. Ives, and Clean and Clear. Don't get me wrong, they all worked great. I've used Clearasil the most on and off for years. And I decided to get back on it. Hey, the product doesn't lie, it does what it says which is "fights the causes of pimples to give you visibly clearer skin.." However, I wouldn't recommend using it twice a day, everyday. It's not exactly good in that case cause its most likely gonna dry your skin out. Other than that, i got no complaints. It works wonders for me. Here is a little tip if anyone wants to try it, first i wet my face with very warm water, almost hot, rub on the clearsil all over my face, then rinse with warm water, after that i take an ice cube and gently rub it everywhere on my face. This is so that after the dirt and oils are removed, the ice dramatically tightens the pores so nothing can get in it:) Your skin might feel a little tight afterwards, but thats normal, you won't feel it for very long. I'm not kidding, the ice cube works like magic for me. So give it a shot. What do you have to lose?

Pros:

Makes my skin feel tingly and clean.
Gets rid of most big breakouts.
Drys up my oily skin.

Cons:

You have to wash your face EVERY morning and night, if not my acne will come back.
Can make your skin dry at times.

I am almost 13 and my skin is super oily. I mostly get whiteheads but acasionally I will have a super bad breakout that will form underneath my skin. If you wash your face everyone morning and night with this stuff and then moisturize it should work great! It's the best stuff I have had, and trust me, I have tried a LOT of stuff.

Pros:

No peeling, no red face, skin felt soft and really smooth after washing with it, very hydrating, skin has almost completely cleared

Cons:

Expensive, the night cream smells a bit odd

I've used Acne Complex in the past and the original Proactive and both of them made my skin peel to no end and I still had severe breakouts all over my cheeks. So it was flaking and pimples all at once. This gentel formula is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It cleared my skin almost completely. I get literaly maybe one zit once a month and its really small. It blew me away cause I've been struggling with this for almost 4 years now. I'm just sad that it took me so long to realize this formula was out there. Great product, I will use this for the rest of my life.

Best Product Ever - I couldn't be happier
Pros- o Works amazingly o Better then the foaming cleanser o Cheeper then the foaming cleanser o Lasts forever ( at least 6 months or more ) Cons- o A little drying without a moisturiser I have been on the Clinique 3 step treatment since July 2013. All I can say is the cleanser and toner is absolutely amazing but the moisturiser treatment is really a disappointment. It made my skin more oily and worse. I stopped using that after two weeks and started using the dramatically different moisturising gel. It works perfectly and helped clear my acne in a week. I then started using the soap bar only a few weeks ago as I released that the foaming cleanser was a lot more expensive and I went through it in just over a month. This soap Bar lasts forever. Im so happy. It does dry out your skin a little if you don't use moisturiser but thats what its designed to do. Its made my skin better. I don't really have breakouts anymore only one or to on my chin area monthly. I honestly have never been so happy with a product. I recommend this product ( as well as the toner and dramatically different moisturising gel ) to anyone suffering from acne. THANK YOU CLINIQUE!

Pros:

Clears up acne pretty fast
Blends skin tone a bit
Gets rid of some blackheads
Great product

Cons:

Cost a little too much for a face wash (I think)
May leave skin feeling tight for an hour or two
Might dry skin (Hasn't happened to me)

The product I actually use it the Clearasil Ultra Daily Face Wash. I have had acne since I was around 12 yrs old (I'm 16 now). Acne has been very annoying and i have been off and on different products and medicines. This is probably one of the best products I've used so far. In a week I have had more results with this face wash in a week than I have had with any face wash, scrub, etc. and even some spot treatments and topicals. I have only been using this thing for about a week and a half and can't wait to see whats ahead.

Pros:

- Makes your skin soft and smooth.
- Smells good.
- Easy to use.
- Doesn't break me out.
- Makes blackheads smaller and less noticeable.
- Affordable

Cons:

- Does not eliminate blackheads.
- Microbeads can get into your hair, eyes etc.
- A bit too abrasive.

This daily scrub was very useful by making my blackheads smaller and less noticeable but it did not eliminate blackheads. It says on the bottle, "Results from Day 1" but I could not see results before 2 months of using the product. The scrub can also be very abrasive due to the large amount of microbeads so you must be use a very gentle circular motion to exfoliate your face. In conclusion, a decent product.

Pros:

Clears acne
Skin is instantly softer and smoother
"Clean" feeling, but not drying
Energizing scent
Prevents acne

Cons:

The exfoliating beads don't all always wash off easily (I find them caught in my hair line, etc. sometimes), but that happens to me with any exfoliating beads.

This is my current favorite cleanser/exfolient. I've used it for about 6 months now, and it's done simply amazing things for my skin. I decided to give this cleanser a while to start clearing my acne, because INSTANTLY it made my skin feel really soft and smooth (more so than anything I've used before). I did have initial breakouts that cleared within a month. It's still working for me, so I'll keep using it! Another plus is that it doesn't have sulfates, which tend to break me out terribly. I'm a product junky, but this is a staple for me, and will be unless it stops working, but so far it hasn't. I highly recommend it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
