A more dangerous way of using benzoyl peroxide that studies show works a bit better than benzoyl peroxide alone. However, when used properly, benzoyl peroxide on its own can completely clear the skin without the addition of antibiotics.

Pros:

Works well for shrinking zits.

Cons:

Takes awhile for it to work.

Did not work for me, but the only Pro about it is it was free from my doctor (he gave me the whole entire sample box!)

Pros:

Its awesome! I started using it and at first I didnt notice much but within a week I was amazed! I reccomend this item to everyone!

Cons:

It drys out your face just a litttttle little bit, only where you use it, throw some moisturizer on that and your perfect!

I recommend this its a good product and well worth it, you will be happy! I've tried Proactive but I had a allergic reaction my whole face swoll up red and it always burned and dried my face out this is the item to buy!

Pros:

this gel is amazing! I've used this for around a week now and I noticed a big huge difference already! Even my boyfriend noticed the big change!

Cons:

my skin gets really dry after applying this.

Continue to use this gel and remember to put moisturizer on your face in the morning and at night time to keep the dryness away.

Pros:

Less Redness
Clearer Skin
Acne goes away fast

Cons:

Dry skin

Wow, Just wow. I've been on this product for not even a week and I am already getting compliments on how my skin is clearing up! This stuff is the real deal! After being on pro-active for months and seeing barley any results I am glad that this product was brought in to my life. Its been about 5 days and the redness is going down every day, the zits under the skin are almost completly gone and I feel great! This was my face before the treatment: [link removed]> And let me tell you its almost 10% clearer, there is still some redness but its going away more and more everyday! Stick to this product if you have acne like in my picture. It works wonders and has really boosted my confidence. Though some dryness occurs its only at night, use cetaphil after a shower in the morning and it hels alot! Lastly ENJOY THIS STUFF, it really has worked miracles for me.

Pros:

Very cheap, easy to use, doesnt bother the skin

Cons:

All the warnings make me kind of scared. IE: bleaching, flaky skin

I have been using it for a couple days and so far so good, im pretty pleased with the results. Keep in mind i didnt have that terrible of acne but I'm using proactive aswell as this and it seems to be keep everything under control. Hopefully it keeps up! Good luck, I realize acne can be a really big pain.

Pros:

it helps with light to medarate acne. sometimes it can even make your skin glow. while on it you rarely get large pimples only a couple small ones

Cons:

doen't fully clear skin, bleaches clothes, runs out quickly, makes your skin very red and sometimes burns

If you have light acne and you just wan to zap away those couple zits it mostly works. You have to be patient and very consistent however if you want clearer looking skin its worth it. If you have a health plan, you should be able to afford it. Just try it out, can't permanently damage you.

Pros:

very good skin for 2 years now
apply @ night and great skin in AM
i think i might heal the skin too

Cons:

w long-term use will my skin age quickly?

Apply @ night and leave it on all day Also, zinc + lots of water = clear complexion

Pros:

It works better than any OTC regimen out there. It is because of the strength of the benzyl peroxide. No OTC can ever compare, so stop wasting your money and get a prescription.

Cons:

NONE!

This really works... stop wasting your money on other products. I never thought I would have clear skin. I would always wear makeup and fear for someone to see me without it, and then wearing make all the time makes your skin worse. After using this product for a month or two my skin is completely clear. I wish I would have known about this product earlier. Now I do not have to wear foundation, my skin is flawless! It's a good look!

Pros:

Seems to work very well so far.

Cons:

I'm soooo pissed off! The Bleach in that cream ruined my new nice set of towels and brand new 800 thread count (not cheap) Bed Sheets I was as careful as I could but now everything is garbage!!! BEWARE!!!!

Hmm, Most of the cost was covered by insurance, it's helping acne matters. But I'm out $500.00 worth of linen in 3wks!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
