A more dangerous way of using benzoyl peroxide that studies show works a bit better than benzoyl peroxide alone. However, when used properly, benzoyl peroxide on its own can completely clear the skin without the addition of antibiotics.

Pros:

It works really good! Makes the pimples go away really fast which is a great thing!!!

Cons:

It did bleach almost every towel and pillow I own which kinda sucks!

I don't think it would be a harm in trying it. If you tried other things like Oxy then there would be no problem with Clindoxyl!!

Pros:

Cleared up my minor to moderate acne fairly quickly. I've been using it for 3 months and I love it!

Cons:

I was crying one night in bed and when I woke up, I realized that it bleached my new pillow case! I also experienced some dryness in the beginning.

I recommend using Complex 15 ceram for oily skin. It's very thin and gentle and it works wonders. My acne seems to come back a bit at that time of the month but Clindoxyl keeps it under control. This is the best product i've used. I've tried Proactiv for a long time, I've tried aloe vera gel, and I've tried Steivamycin which was NOT for my skin type(how frusturating!) I love this!

Pros:

none

Cons:

didn't clear up my acne at all, it made it worse, i ended up with zits in parts of my face that never had them before

i do not recommend this product, and unfortunatly my doctor doesn't seem to agree with me and wont prescribe me anything else. i would recommend dove facial cleaning cloths. they work a thousand times better than the gel and are much more gentle on the skin

Pros:

easy to apply, works good, did the job.

Cons:

i used it on a spot where i really didn't need to put any by accident and it dried it out so bad for 3 days and then slowly the dryness disappeared.

i got about 4 sample tubes from my doctor to try out and a prescription if i wanted more and i loved it! but i accidently used it on zit free spot and it dried it out which was bad and i used the pond dry skin cream which made me breakout...but overall it works good. in 3-4 days my zit/blemishes are gone! :)

Pros:

No smell, gel like texture which spreads easy on face.
Works very well. Within a week had seen a difference.
Great for spot treatment as well. LOW COST CAUSE OF INSURANCE!

Cons:

Dries skin.
Get a good moisturizer.

Great product. have used for a little over a week. May make skin a bit worse before it gets better because it brings the acne to the surface first. STICK WITH IT! It's worth it.

Pros:

Works very, very well. Cheap -- one tube can last you a few months if you apply it well ;)

Cons:

Took three months of daily use, and one month of pure breakouts before it started to kick in. It's been 6 months since it started working and I've had one hormone-related pimple, and one papule

It works. It really does. Stick with it. First thing it's going to do is bring your imperfections (pimples, zits, papules, what have you) to the service of your skin and this process can take a few months. After that, it helps to prevent it. I had papules all over my neck and my lower face out of nowhere - it started right after my 23rd birthday. I tried proactive without any luck, and then this with cetaphyl bar cleanser. Pure awesome. I should also mention that it cleared up these little skin coloured bumps I had on my forehead.

Pros:

smelled better than stronger treatments, nice texture, can use and then put makeup on, doesnt dry out skin

Cons:

doesnt really work for me, didnt help my skin at all...

didnt work, seems best for maybe rather minor cases, or well all skin is different so maybe it just wasnt for me. on stevimycin now and much happier with that. id still recommend trying it out for a while. i was on it a year so i know it didnt work for me, give it at least 4 months...

Pros:

Um well it kinnda helps and i dont have bad acne so i dont know why it cant clear it up but yea.

Cons:

nothing it does not dry my skin out and it does not do much

Um well i have been using this stuff for like two years for the first year it worked BUT for the last year it has not worked as well SO I AM MAD!
July 2, 2007

Pros:

i used Clindoxyl on it's own. i used Differin (another gel) on it's own. neither worked. my doctor put the two together and it's fabulous. i naturally have really bad skin but now it's clear.

Cons:

i'm not suggesting you use Clindoxyl, i'm suggesting you use Clindoxyl and Differin together. the combination dries out your skin REALLY BAD. find a good moisturiser, i'm still looking. also, very expensive. for me the two togerther was about 120$

-good for acne -dries out skin -very expensive for combination -prescriptions for both of them

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
