Pros:

First the science then my opinion. I have been on epiduo for almost two months and my acne is almost gone. To give you a hint how bad my acne was the doctor was talking to me about acutane:-(. The sconce behind epiduo is figment then most acne treatments it's two active ingredients are adapalene /benzoyl peroxide. Adapalene WILL NOT KILL ACNE adapalene is a Prepatory cream it opens pores and does nothing else. Now Benzoyl peroxide will kill acne by bring O2 into pores. This cream works great.

Cons:

Ask you dermatologist for either 2/2 OR 5/2 pads the first number is Glycolic which will prevent MOST of the burning caused by Benzoyl peroxide. And the second number is Salic acid wich will allow new skin to replace the old skin faster stoping the peeling caused by Epiduo

It worked for me I had sever acne and I hope and pray it will work for you

Pros:

EpiDuo phone app, stops breakouts, inflammation, it's light on face not heavy

Cons:

Have to keep using, don't stop, it's expensive without health insurance , dryness

It works. I used it before like 3 months, stopped and breakouts came back. Now I been using since April 2012 at night with Cetaphil antibacterial soap twice daily and my skin is wonderful. I may get zit during period but otherwise it's clear. I even stop wearing face markup, just eyeshadow. I highly recommend this.

Pros:

Clears acne very quickly
Tube lasts a long time
Easy to use
Gets rid of stubborn pimples

Cons:

Dries out face
Slight redness
Itchiness for few days

I've been suffering from mild/moderate acne from the age of 15. In the past I have used oxytetracycline, Yasmin, dianette, doxycycline, quinoderm and duac which have all failed to work. My doc recently prescribed me epiduo and I have to say its an amazing product. My sister is also on it and advised me to use a very smal amount (tiny blob) before bed on each area where I am prone to acne. First miss three days in using it. The following week miss two days in between using it then third week use it every day. I am on my first week and have to say it is already making a big difference. The cysts on my chin have decreased immensely and the pimples on my nose and cheek have totally flattened and going less red. My skin did dry out quite abit but i used moisturiser 10minutes before applying the epiduo. And this reduced the redness and flakiness the next day. Some people may suffer IB But I advise you to wait it out as it will work.

Cons:

I NEVER write reviews on products because most of the time it isn't worth my time, but this time I wanted to share, that this stuff really does work! I am 35 and started breaking out on my cheeks and chin a few years ago. I had a LOT of blackheads in my nose and chin (EVERY single pore), and lots of new blackheads and bumps every single day on my cheeks that I'd try and squeeze out and then create scars doing so. I'd also get a couple of those huge cystic zits every month that hurt and took weeks to go away. Well, I've been using Epiduo along with Doxycycline for a month and I haven't gotten more than a couple little new bumps on my cheeks (that went away quickly) and I just started to form a small cyst on my chin a couple days ago (it's period time) and it's already going away and hardly noticeable. My blackheads are slowly clearing out on my nose and chin and the blackheads on my cheeks are WAY better. The scars on my cheeks are also fading. You're supposed to give this 3 months to fully work, but I'm happy to say it's ALREADY working really well. I didn't experience the initial breakout like some people have reported. It does burn, sting, and itch quit a bit, but after the first week that became less for me. It's definitely tolerable. The most annoying thing for me is the flaking around my nose, laugh lines and chin area. I use the Oil of Olay Cleansing System (the face scrubber with the spinning brush) and Cetaphil, and as long as I do that twice a day, it helps remove the flakes. I also use Neutrogena Clear Face spf 30 moisturizer. The moisturizer seems to burn worse than the Epiduo, but it doesn't make me break out like some moisturizers with spf 30 have done. Anyway, all in all, I love this product and I am SO happy to have found it after years of trying EVERYTHING!! As long as you can get past the first week or two, you'll love it. Give it a chance!

Pros:

Clears up acne FAST

Cons:

Mild stinging and peeling when you first start using it.

This works like a miracle! I was lucky enough to never suffer from acne in High School or college - I had near perfect skin. Once I moved to Manhattan I started breaking out from "adult acne." I tried everything, from duoc to a 6 month round of 80mg a day accutane. Accutane made my skin amazing and did help but some acne still came back about 10 months later. My DR put me in Epiduo and it has been amazing. I would def recommend that everyone try this product and stick with it because it is really amazing!! Keeps my skin clear and glowing!

Pros:

Not that expensive only have to put on once a day it works well for teens ( I'm 19)

Cons:

Don't really have a con but I guess it doesn't work over night.

You should give it a try if you have moderate acne and of course ask your dermatologist if this is a good medication for your face.

Pros:

It clears up acne fast, eliminates dark spots left behind from other pimples, and is the only topical solution that has proven to be successful on my face.

Cons:

I live in the beach... not literally but i go almost every weekend so the only con about this product is that i cant go to the beach and tan since this product makes skin more sensitive.

I have had acne for about four years. Its never been that bad since it was only on my forehead. About a year and a half ago I started getting acne on my checks. This type of acne is much worst since this part of your face scars much easily. I went to a couple of dermatologists that gave me medications that kept my acne under control but never cured it. I would always be getting pimples from time to time and little tiny bumps in my face never disappeared. My last dermatologist said that the only solution was acutane. I didn't want to get that cause i have heard about the horrible side effects. He told me his last try would be epiduo. I thought this is just another creme and balahhh blahhh. But wow this cream is incredible! my acne was completely gone after one week using it. Slowly the dark spots started to vanish. Since i started using it i haven't gotten not one pimple. I really don't do these kinds of reviews but i decided to do it cause if i would of heard such wonderful reviews before i would've gotten rid of my acne years ago. If it doesn't work so fast give it time cause i am sure it will work.

Pros:

Clears up skin
Prevents future breakouts
Works relatively quickly

Cons:

Dries out skin

I have been prescribed Epiduo in the past, but hardly gave it a chance, discontinuing its use after my forehead peeled during my first use. However, after my at home regimen (same as acne.org regimen except only washed face at night, and used a clean and clear benzoyl peroxide), stopped working, I went back to my dermatologist. She again prescribed Epiduo, however this time with a prescription moisturizer, which works deep into the skin (Neosalus). Many people complain that Epiduo burns and stings, and causes dryness and flakiness. This is most likely because they A) use epiduo every night right off the bat or B) Don't moisturize enough. I have been on Epiduo for around a month, and I still only use it every other night. A little goes a LONG way with epiduo. I also mainly spot treat with the Epiduo, or put it on problem areas that are prone to break outs. I do NOT cover my whole face, as I have never broken out on my cheeks. If your dermatologist does prescribe Epiduo, ask about Neosalus, the moisturizer. With it I put it on morning and night after washing my face. However on the nights I use Epiduo, I put the Neosalus on BEFORE the Epiduo. You would think that it would prevent the Epiduo from working, however like I said, Epiduo is strong and by using the Neosalus first and using Epiduo every other night, I have mainly avoided the dryness and peeling from my first experience. Epiduo has CLEARED my skin. I have not had a new break out in a while, after the initial breakout which was no worse than what my skin had been going through before. HOWEVER- In addition to epiduo I have also been doing other things that I believe are clearing my face and will help ANYONE. 1) I have switched to only drinking water, and A LOT of it, which really does help in clearing up your skin and flushing out bacteria. 2) changing my pillow case every night. Before I hardly ever changed it, but now I do so every other night. This prev

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
