Pros:

Very inexpensive, skin is doing better, easy to get, easy to take.

Cons:

None thus far. Not even naseau like some had discribed here.

I'd been reading up on Zinc and how it heels the skin. Im a black male and we can sometimes have a problem with acne on the back of the scalp around the hair line called "Folliculitis" and though its not the worst case Ive seen it has gotten worse over the past 8-9 years. Ive tried noxema, alcohol, acne med's, peroxide, etc. I finally went to a Dermatoligist. I was given oral antibiotics, shampoo, ointments & even injections to the scalp. Sounds worst than what it was but nonetheless not pleasant. Well things were ok for a while but never great and with Dr visits and meds I was easily out $250 to $300. I started to go back for more agressive treatment but thought Id try ZINC after reading up on it and Ive been on it for about a mnth and a half now & the skin is better less painful and way less hassle & less expensive! Its so nice to hear all the positve testimonies here about ZINC. Im hoping for more and more improvement and wish everyone else here much success with it too. GOOD LUCK!

Great improvements with taking zinc
I've bought several zinc products from ebay (optizinc) and i've noticed improvement in the skin. I didn't break out as much and the inflammation went down. Zinc addresses the hormones in the body (acne is a result of a hormonal imbalance so it makes sense as to why the zinc would help. I would say try it out and find out for yourself. I've done my research and its good to do a lot of research and zinc does not have side effects from what i know of.

Meh...
From the reviews I can see that Zinc helps guys way more than it helps girls. Zinc made a very small difference for me, but not a big enough one to waste money on it. Vitex helped far more (this is only for women and it is more for adult acne.) It looks like Zinc is good if you're a guy, but if you're a woman, I would probably skip it. There are better natural treatments out there. I would recommend this to a guy, but not to a girl.

Pros:

- Clears acne
- The skin becomes less oily

Cons:

- When I have started I had to take zinc after taking food but now is not a problem to take it in the evening on an empty stomach.

I take chelated zinc gluconate 25mg and I have noticed less oily skin after one week of first taking. After 3 months my face was completly clear. I was taking in the past 2 cycles of Roaccutane and the results were very good but after one year the problem has come again. I was looking for a solution of taking something which is not dangerous for a long time. First time I have read about zinc on this site. Most of reviews were very good and decided to give a try. I am very satisfied and recommend to everone to give a chance to zinc.

Pros:

-Increase mood (you get a mini high like when you eat oysters)
- Somewhat clearer skin, nothing that i've noticed drastically.

Cons:

- Stomach ache/weak feeling if not taken RIGHT after a meal.

Been taking zinc 50mg daily for a couple of months usually after a meal. Have noticed just minor improvement in skin. I do like it because it increases libido(sp). Generally feel better. Make sure you take it RIGHT after a meal. I just took a zinc tablet about an hour and an half after breakfast. As I'm writing this I'm feeling very weak at the moment. So make sure you take this with a meal to avoid this side effect.

Pros:

Reduced acne scaring and spots.

Cons:

Stomach pain

To help me reduce my acne breakouts I started to eat a lot more healthier in early November of last year. This had helped a great deal but I was still getting large Nodular acne (the type you cant squeeze and are really painful!) So after reading some reviews with some scepticism, I began taking zinc for my acne in early December. In the first week it had given me a breakout and I had more spots on my chest. I went from taking 15mg a day to 70mg a day. This gave superb results as I'm black and I have a lot of dark scars on my face but the rate that the scars were healing up was phenomenal. Also the large Nodular spots have all but gone. I do get small spots and if I eat unhealthily I do get small breakouts but my skin has improved immensely. The one draw back is I'm now taking no more than 15mg twice a day as even though I took the tablets with food I did suffer badly from stomach pain. I have had acne for 16 yrs and this is the only product that has worked for me.

Pros:

Cheap.

After the first day, I can see my skin healing. My acne wasn't too bad (mild), but I scar easily, so even when I didn't pick at my pimples, I'd have discoloration. I took 25mg of Zinc after breakfast, and 25mg after dinner. My Zinc pills also contain Vitamin C. My skin is more even toned now. Finally something that works!

Pros:

Noticed that my skin was great everytime I drank probiotic drinks w/ zinc or protein shakes w/zinc.

I've tried everything... roaccutane etc. Nothing works. PLus I'm in my mid 20's so thought I'd be past this! BUt it works!

Cons:

none, although I wish I had been told, rather than through trial and error

I had deep bumps and scattered acne all over my neck, jawline and back. now with zinc it has completely cleared up!!!
